  1. Big ups to my man Matt for the detailed breakdown and the unconditional apology. Feels good to not be treated like an idiot. The compensation is also a nice touch. 10/10 good PR moves.
  2. Yeah the seasonal reward system leaves a bad taste in my mouth, nothing about that system is consumer friendly. I agree with other posters in the thread. Feels like LO just lifted successful things from other BR's wholesale and dumped them into a game where nobody wants them. The gamemode sounds fun, the reward structure sounds like garbage.
  3. Is this a necro? I feel like it's a necro. Good post, worth necromancing.
  4. I think there's a point where you can fight someone and learn nothing just because they're that much better than you. You can learn from struggling against a better opponent, you can't learn if you just get facerolled.
  5. As a big ol' warframe shill let me tell you it's a good game and that you should try it. But as for its monetization model, it's a two-tier currency model with a cash-shop. The only things that are exclusive to the cash shop are cosmetic and the premium currency is tradeable. It's very possible to play the game 100% f2p and still get everything out of it. Of course, most people who enjoy the game still end up spending quite a bit of money on it. The dev team being great at community interaction is also pretty handy.
  6. A better suggestion might have been League of legends or Warframe, both of which rely on inspiring a desire to purchase, instead of imposing a need for it, but are also both thriving and successful games. Agree with you though. Good ideas.
  7. The JG-841 "Firecracker". It's literally the only weapon I use (occasionally I'll pull out an OSMAW for shits). I don't even think the 3-point sling 1 that comes with it helps in any way, at this point I've just gotten attached to that stupid fuckin' gun and limit myself to only using that.
  8. Gotta admire the dedication though, man's willing to fight for what he thinks is right.
  9. ITT: people post walls of text at a man who refuses to read any of them
  10. I broadly disagree that what you're suggesting would be balanced, but I'm just gonna poke out these little bits and say that the rate of captures to rescues you often see in games does not reflect a self-balancing effect at all. And for the second one, the risk that the capturer takes is not at all similar to the risk that the hostage free-er takes. Being that the absurd amount of time that you're stunned for after losing to LTL is more than enough for any would-be captor to finish up fights or call over allies, able to arrest you at their leisure. As a result, arresting ends up being safer than freeing an arrested criminal.
  11. Hey man, I got silver in my first mission and then that's just how it was. I didn't know I was signing up for this abuse. I want to get off the ride but Mister Bones won't let me.
  12. -You get the entire team's blame for every loss. EVERY LOSS. -People TK you and leave your teams 'cause you're silver -Opponents BM the shit outta you. Man, I get that I might not be the best at this game but damn you guys are fuckin' mean. 1 like = 1 prayer
  13. I love this man with a vigor I did not know I possessed.
  14. Any mission where I get thrown against a group of 200+ cops using LTL Yeah yeah "It's weak" and all that, but more often than not the people using them have several hundred hours of experience over me and the power difference in our weapons doesn't really match up to the skill difference in the fight. Also, I almost exclusively use the JG, so that probably handicaps me too. Nothing says fun like getting /fart'ed on for ten seconds the 8th time in a mission.
  15. Hah, it's alright. You won the forums for actually considering my argument critically instead of blithely spouting your own.
  16. See I don't know if I'd call what LO and paying players are doing as "generosity" since it's entirely fuelled by self-interest and not at all for the benefit of the f2p players.
  17. Are you implying that paying players are being generous towards f2ps when they pay for cosmetics for themselves and themselves only? Or that LO is being generous by running their business? F2P models have never been a charity move, They're there purely to make money (as so many people have said). Also as per the definition. There's still nothing actually being taken. (I know it was a joke but I like stirring shit up, It's a forum, this is what they're basically for.)
  18. Curious term that. The implication is that something is being taken without giving anything back. What's being taken? Gametime? Customisation? Oh no, what shall we do with all these f2p players populating our servers and consuming all our infinite digital resources? Honestly.
  19. I want to introduce you to a concept in game design called "Visual progression". Much like mechanical progression (levelling up, unlocking new skills etc) visual progression is all about the aesthetics of the player's game. In an MMO, this is why the cool looking gear is higher level, and part of the reason that all the coolest looking skills are high-level too. In a game like APB, it's the reason you unlock cosmetics from contacts as you level up their reputation. Visual progression isn't insignificant, it has a huge impact on the player's enjoyment. Often it gives many players a goal (remember seeing people in full-on raid gear playing WoW and wanting it for yourself?) or gives, or takes up several hours of their life just because they want their gear to look that much cooler and more unique than everybody else's (This is true of APB, but you can see it in games like Warframe too). Honestly, it's really underappreciated by a lot of consumers just how much it affects games, when people say that cash shops should be "cosmetic only". They don't realise that they risk having cosmetics be limited to cash shops, which is incredibly damaging to a game. While I agree that cosmetic customisation SHOULD be broader for paying customers (only because their model is f2p and they need to make money somehow). Saying that ALL customisation should be behind a paywall is a bit extreme. And really is a bad idea for the game in the long run.
  20. Oof, Spare me the sanctimony. I'm not sitting here defending the man using an entire race as a slur, neither am I victimizing myself, I decided to share a story that I thought was amusing and lo, some career troll decided to take up arms and whiteknight for the Nazis. You're being disingenuous and you know it.
  21. You had me going for the first few posts but now it's just really obvious bait. Chill on the posting and let this thread die, nobody has anything interesting to say anymore.
  22. Uff, I give up. Can't make fun of people being stupid anymore without a brigade of social justice warriors coming through
