  2. forget about 1.2 if it dies so be it LO should only focus on making the new engine as polished as it can be. Some good ideas for keeping player attention though would be: Making dying less punishing, make killing feel more satisfying how? When you die, all you see is your opponent jumping around your corpse and generally you have no idea why. Fix for a less punishing death: APB is a game that would benefit from kill cams, each gun is very unique so the new player doesn't know the difference between the sword and ntec. Show the person who died a replay from their enemies POV with their load out. This will help lower the skill ceiling as well as it will teach just about everyone what they did wrong in a fight. Fix for more satisfying kills: We all know it, killing in APB feels good. Probably because dying feels worst and you know it. It's part of what makes APB such a toxic game. Dying feels horrible -> player gets upset -> player kills enemy -> remembers what dying felt like, and gets a excited because they returned the favor On a subconscious level: The customization in this game allows players to create a unique identity. Dying tarnishes that identity which = a more up-settable death and toxic reaction. There isn't much you can do about this besides doing your best to make dying and loosing less punishing. XP gain should be based on individual performance not team performance. Only cash should be based on if you win or loose. Merged. haha im so quirky commenting the same thing on the same type of posts

  5. I used both, personally, I like the flare gun better A: The way it shoots makes it easier to get kill on people, maybe cause it fires a bit slower? can't remember off the top of my head B: The arch is just more satisfying to watch in the air.

  9. well comparing offline single player games to an always online game isn't exactly fair. I know APB didn't used to be all server side, but HEEHOOHAAA CHEATERS HAD TO GO AND RUIN THAT. I always notice less cheaters in games where getting kills =/= victory If LO can make APB less punishing when you die (kill cams is a start) I imagine less people would cheat. A: now people have a killcam they can record to send into support as proof there is something fishy. B: A player can see what revealed their position/can see how they played and see what they can do different for next time. This will make loosing feel less like being punished and more like a learning experience. I think killcams is something LO really need to add into this game, not only because it's a modern feature in most pvp shooters. But it will also show new players how to play the game from the POV of the person they are getting killed by.
  10. See, what's bizarre is everyone will say how bad APB combat is, yet beg that LO doesn't change it?...It's very backwards logic. Imagine if LO said fuck it, and turned APB into a cover shooter? Allowing for blind fire, vaulting and other doodads I guarantee you, the people who think this game's gameplay sucks will argue not to do this cause it's not APB. And they're right. But if APB combat "sucks" it needs reworking right? I think in APB strafing needs to be nerfed, how? A delay/inertia transition so if you strafe you're stuck in one place for a brief second. Moving in a circle could still work but it'll have to be wider in order to not get any movement debuffs

  15. Who cares if 1.2 dies? 2.1 is the future. New car and grenade will be shipped with the new engine. Honestly the game won't look that much different but the code and pipeline to which the graphics get put onto your screen will make them look a bit better. sure

    You guys are right how foolish of me. The advantage I would get from making the game more vibrant by 5% would be too much. Especially when you compare it to the very very minor tweaks like removing grenade explosions.

    Customize car axles

    I agree and disagree Yea, generally more customization would be nice in this game. But compare the Growl (low ride height) to the Vegas 4x4 (high ride height) The growl tends to get stuck on the smallest of inclines, while the 4x4 can rocket over just about any bump or ramp. If visual ride height can be separated from vehicle handling. Then why not?
  19. So how I imagine it. LO saw APB and thought it would be a piece of cake to finish what GamersFirst had started. After 3-5 beta tests and people are unhappy with how the game is LO is now going through the muck again looking at potential problems. And well? they found some... Rebuilding APB from scratch would be probably easier? Maybe? I think that if they Built APB from scratch in Unreal 4 or 5, something would feel off about it. It wouldn't "feel" like APB anymore. I know that the closed beta streams that's what everyone's main concern was. If they went for the sequel route, myself and I'm sure AT LEAST 1 other person would be upset over the fact that our money investment into the game is now for nothing. The cars, guns, clothing we bought means nothing now. (assuming that the sequel would reset everyone) I also heard rumors APB for Unreal 4 was supposed to be a thing (being worked on by a group of hires off shore) but was scrapped, either due to costs or because 3.0->3.5 clearly wasn't going to be a month project. I keep saying this and hold by it. LO have shown to me that they don't want to put the resources into the people who are playing still. The ones that hop onto 1.2 . I imagine their plan is to get the upgrade as good as it can be. Then begin advertising the game so those who never heard of this game catch wind of it. Then rebuild the new player experience.
