Xnetexe 78 Posted November 28, 2019 There's GTA Online, but I'm surprised that game managed to remain somewhat popular when the engine and netcode are complete garbage. I can't think of any other game besides GTA Online where players have the ability to literally crash-to-desktop other players' game clients at will. How can any company think that's okay? I don't think any other game has the customization level of APB because it's probably too demanding on the servers, if the past performance of APB's servers through its lifetime is anything to go by. Stop spreading the 100mil lie. APB did not cost 100mil to make. That 100mil was for the entirety of RTW and all their projects. They had roughly 3-4 projects going on not just APB. APB was certainly the biggest though.

yood 345 Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) official purchase amount APB company G1 is 1.500.000 $ / 2011- 2017 / game sold out . safdfsgkjhdgsjkhs 140 Posted November 28, 2019 the lack of technology really fucked up what APB could've potentially been. if apb had district phasing from the start they could've properly matched players across all districts and they could've even stayed with the old school threat system. if they were smart they wouldn't have to ban anyone, just shadow ban cheaters/extremely good players so that they face only people with similar stats...this could've been done with fairfight and EAC also. customization is very good (themes, symbols, car and clothing editing, character creation, weapon modding) gun play is good with all types of different weapon styles vehicles are good with room for improvement the maps are well designed and thought out the only thing that always made me NOT want to play APB was facing cheaters or just the teams being severely imbalanced due to matchmaking allowing premade groups to vs players who are all solo queuing. along with the poor optimization and game performance on whats considered to be a powerful PC setup. Ai-Zhú 46 Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) 10 hours ago, LAPDAlonso said: um, Saints Row 3 and 4 are similar to APB as for Customization and open world type gameplay and SR is a million times better and the customization is better. The Division is another game, but Defiance D13 is very similar to APB but with PVP. Apb only saving grace is the customization, period. Without it, the game would have been shut down way back in 2011. How the heck can you compare SR to APB?? SR is a singleplayer game with a story. You are playing against NPCs. APB is an online PvP game. That's another dimension. SR has an open world filled with activities that is made for sandboxing. APB's "open world" is a rather small one that serves as a lobby and dynamic arena, because it is PvP-driven. It is not meant to be a sandbox open world to mess around in. APB has better customization options, but it doesn't have that much clothing options. There is a difference. Defiance and APB? Defiance is a MMORPG, it features PvE content, quests and other common RPG elements. APB is a pure PvP shooter. Defiance has an open world. As forementioned, APB's "open world" cannot be really called an open world. And before someone comes up with GTA Online: GTA:O is a true sandbox MMO. Its open world is designed to do all sorts of stuff in it: messing around with the police and pedestrians, visiting locations and stores (strip clubs, casino), exploring, parachuting, flying, running your own business. APB is a small-scale PvP game, it doesn't have this degree of freedom. GTA:O features alot (and also puts alot of weight on) of PvE content. There are heists, coop missions and horde modes along with alot other PvE modes. APB is a PvP game with no PvE features. GTA:O does include PvP modes, they are diverse. But these modes are pretty much straight forward and provide no tactical depth. It often ends up in a deathmatch. Meanwhile, in APB, you are free in your options to win a mission. That is also due to the fact that there is no restricted mission area. There is no map for each mission, instead, the whole "open world" serves as the mission area. GTA:O's arsenal of weapons is more diverse. As mentioned, it is meant for sandboxing. These weapons really don't need balancing. Come on, only because some games allow you to run over or shoot pedestrians, or just happen to be a third person shooter, doesn't mean they are genuine alternatives to APB. There is no other game like APB out there. Edited November 28, 2019 by Ai-Zhú

I don't think any other game has the customization level of APB because it's probably too demanding on the servers, if the past performance of APB's servers through its lifetime is anything to go by. The only other game that i think has as much freedom with character customization is another dead free game called "toribash" Each player uses ragdolls that have different joints i.e Neck , pecs, shoulders, wrists, elboes , glutes(not i a joint i know more like a muscle but they consider it a joint), hips knees, and ankles as well as clickable "hands" which more or less resemble cubes... you can buy several differnt colors to make your characters joints , you can have them be red when theyre relaxed, or blue when theyre in use.. you can change your blood color as well. but the true customization comes when you get a large amount of credits and can buy "textures" which allow you to basically upload images you make in photoshop or painttoolsai or even just grab from the internet. game has just about the same amount of players as apb... the gameplay is nothing like apb though, they consider it a "sandbox fighting simulation" but you basically click the joints while a timer counts down.. the character follows rules of gravity and will move accordingly to what you click on , if youre new youre mostlikely gonna fall on your patootie but people make "mods" for the game which can go from parkour maps to run through a small city map .. skateboard maps, basketball.. it can be PVE or PVP depending on what modes people have on the servers and you can even have your own private rooms and kick people if youre getting your patootie handed to you by max levels too hard . game has a HUGE learning curve which is most likely why its a ghost town. people try it and quit Edit: another reason i think it is dead is because its hard to get enough credits for full customization freedom without winning Tournaments, or being a really good artist .. cuz you only get like 10credits a win in public games and last i checked its like 20,000 credits for a high detailed face texture ( textures have resolution limits so the highest res ones are in the 20k range) so if you want full customization freedom you need like 1million credits and its annoying as hell Edited November 30, 2019 by wetslits
