what is your point exactly? it sounds like you're going to treat the people that voted "no" as hypocrits. lets remember there is a free version of this thing. sure the joker box one has a little extra range but if we consider the free version, i dont really see it as p2w

yeah, i was talking about the division's matchmaking and DZ. i have to disagree about the fun part. some years ago i thought "oooh so cool, crossed missions! its going to be chaos everywhere!" but now im all like "ugh...crossed missions, now i'll have no idea if i have to pay attention to the sounds or not". APB's competitive nature is fun too, and thats what i enjoy. my uninformed guess is that, we will be able to stay away from loading screens with a -really, really big re-engineering of the game- . it will be weird: players and cars will spawn arround us with the default model untill you load the actual character. but hey - its better than what we have atm. -
How is the production of more languages going?
TheOppositePolarBear replied to JellyBOY's topic in General Discussion Archive
quite good actually. in south america chile is producing a new breed of spanish. nobody other than chileans understands it, but they are working on it. in the US, the mexicans and chinese guys started working on english 2.0 already. its a weird mix but talking it can get you good food in some restaurants, also, the lack of connectors simplify the language a lot. the russian community of CSGO is also working on "cyka blyat", this far they can say "throw a grenade on the 3rd tile of the left wall of dark's hallway to B and rush it. then throw a smoke on door to mid and plant" only using 3 "cyka" and 2 "blyat". if i have to answer seriously, i dont think they are working on languages atm, but i know nothing -

just for the record: i know you're just trolling, but somebody might actually follow this disccusion and take everything seriously, so i'll follow up: you're talking like if there are only 2 ranks: noob and pro. if you're not a noob, you're a pro. thats not how it works. put ranks 80-100 in silver district, see them getting stomped and quitting the game. now the game has no players and its dead. thats what happened with golds locked in golds district, thats what will happend with ranks 80-100 locked in silver district (lets remember gold district might as well not exist atm). if you're a hardcore gamer that likes to learn from getting stomped (dont judge you - i didt that to get out of the non-belongingness of apb) great for you - but most players will quit the game. you might be thinkin "we dont need them! those weaklings can quit the game if they dont like it!", i would be on board if we could afford the loss of players. we cant afford a massive loss of players. the playerbase is already pretty unhealthy -

how is a rank 80-100 ready to face max ranks with thousands of hours into the game in the silver district? the lack of a middle ground between bronze district and silver district is the thing i've been complaining for years. but atm, just locking them out of the bronze district might do as much harm as locking golds in the gold district did. -

you cant see white without thinking on racist? nice! that means you finally left the weapons school and got to california i guess. are the lyrics of your song still the same? out of joke, i have no idea what you're talking about. nothing you said contradicted anything i said or made a point about why ranks 80-100 should be locked out of bronze. -

TheOppositePolarBear replied to Jorlak's topic in General Discussion Archive
yeah, but this border is way too big. its not a border created by skills, its a border created by district standards: in the bronze district he is too good to play so the bronze district invites the silver district to drink some coffee, and while talking about life, bronze district goes something like "oh yeah, this guy... xFlame... he is REALLY good like a mad dog on meth. he just drops my other guys like crazy, you should totally match him up against the best of the best you have". and then silver district is like "dang, this guy is going to kill my game if i just let him run amok. here, have a match with some players with 3000+ hours in the game, in a premade, communicated, and 3rd position in the apb tournament for pro swag 360 noscope players...and have a silver as a companion, that should be balanced." and lets not start talking about whats going to happend when he gets dropped to silver, only to find out that the whole district is gold, or how the matchamking system seems colorblind at times. no matter what, there is always going to be people on the border of the threats, but we can do something to thin the border, instead of being in the border between noobs and global elites. -

aaaaah yes, it sucks to be trapped in the "non-belongingness" of apb, too good for bronze, too bad for silver that said, untill they fix the matchmaking system, you only have 2 ways to go: you eather beacome a dethreater and beacome a bronze district gold, or you suck it up and beacome a silver district silver. ("bronze district gold" and "silver district silver"; because it seems that both bronze district and silver district uses diferent standars to say who is a gold and who is a silver. generally speaking, golds from the bronze district will have equal or less skill than seasoned silvers from the silver district -enfasis on seasoned-) if you decide to continue your adventure into the silver district, let me give you a couple of tips on how to get better. some of these might look like tips for newbies, but i've seen lots of people not remembering the basics: -be concious of the radar: if you shoot, or if you drive, you're showing up on the enemy's radar. same for your enemies. so dont just park your car next to the door leading to the objective and be sourpriced when all the enemy team was aiming down at the entrance door. -be concious of your surroundings: dont get tunnel vision, look arroudn -be concious of your team: your team can be eather cannon fodder(you sacrifice them to hurt your enemies so you can finish them off), distraction(you flank while they fight), or teammates (you fight along them), but you have to be concious of your team. just spawning and running towards the enemy alone makes YOU the cannonfodder, so wait for your team, and be concious of what the heck they are doing. do not push alone. -do intel: use your 3rd person view to watch arround the corners, rushing without knowing where the enemy is or what they are doing can be... bad for your health -do positioning: if you know where your enemy is, think on where to position yourself to get the best advantage. -do not shoot without cover: if you're not behind cover, dont shoot your enemies. you complain that they can kill you pretty fast, well, if you're behind cover, using Q and E, some bullets will get sucked by the cover, giving you a couple of milisecond extra. valuable miliseconds. -not everything is shooting skills: you'll improve a lot just by following "do intel", "do positioning" and "do not shoot without cover". gunning, you'll learn with practice -ask yourself what you could have done diferent when you die: dont let frustration take your soul - analize the situation, ask yourself what you did wrong, what other options you had. -find a good clan: if you can. if your clan is communicative and focus on improving, it can be beneficial. everything else, will come with experience and practice. good luck getting out as a silver district gold, or staying as a bronze district gold. choise is yours! havent we already talked a lot about how rank is not a good skill level indicator and how forcing players into a district almost killed the game? -
what do you guys want to see in the game's future? for OP's part, new cars and weapons (non-reskins), also more non-paid stuff you can work towards it.

Pick Up mission phase
TheOppositePolarBear replied to Snjezana's topic in General Discussion Archive
sounds like its a problem against oposition, not against the objective itself. as its already been said, the pickups are fine, its the dropoffs the stuff that sometimes needs some working (example: big item dropoff right next to the street for one team, inside a building, up the stairs, behind the toilet in the bathroom at the end of a 20 meters hallway for the other) you get the banhammer i guess. no multiple accounts Lixil said once again, sounds like your problem is with the oposition, not the mission itself. what does your threat has to do with it? a lot. it indicates how well you play, wich, in turn, indicates how well you can get the potential out of a tool, or how well you can respond to a situation. lower skill players might not realize how really easy / hard is to do something, or how to correctly respond a situation. thus, as -the newbie still have something to learn-, balancing stuff by newbie's opinions might unbalance stuff for high skilled games. for a very extremist example, lets take a group bronzies, in their day 3 of playing. their opinions might be arround this: -N-tec has too much recoil and bloom**, bad accuracy after the 2nd shot. its useless. -SR-15 (joker carabine) is too unreliable*. its useless. -SHAW has too much recoil. its useless. ALIG is also useless. -OCA kills faster than JG. JG also gets outclassed by NFAS. JG is useless -DMR is useless. NHVR outclasses it -STAR missess too much. its useless -game is P2W. godly tier weapon: ATAC, no recoil, good accuracy**. -FBW is unreliable* to use, it also kills too slow. its useless. better use S-AS -2nd best weapon in the game: OSMAW, kills in 1 shot. *they might not know that, in apb, shooting a semi auto faster than its ROF might cause jammings. ** they wont control the burst. for they, its full auto or nothing. might sound stupid, but think about guys that come here from CoD, for example. are your eyes bleeding yet? no? great! because i still have something else to say: grab those opinions and try to balance the game with them. you probably will nerf the ATAC, a gun that is not seen THAT much in high skilled games (its not useless but its also not the sharpest tool in the shed), so now, you have another useless weapon to put next to the norseman guns. and thats what your threat level has to do with it not for bragging...but i once carried a team of random silvers vs a premade of golds from the bronze district... with an alig... -

Need a little few tips gitting better.
TheOppositePolarBear replied to JohnNighthawk's topic in General Discussion Archive
just for the record, i want to watch too ditto. i went from nobody to nobody with yellow coating the moment i started learning positioning, flanking and timing /*********************************now, my recommendations***********************************/ 1) golden rule of apb for anybody who is not a total pro mlg: dont shoot if you dont have cover. i dont care if your enemy is aiming at your friends, 20 mts away from you, in the middle of the street, with no cover, you're behind him, and he is not aware of your presence, there is always the chance that you will miss enough shots for him to turn arround and send you back to the respawn screen you just came out of. if you're not behind cover, you're not shooting 2) every time you die, think, why did you die? what could you have done diferently? 3) know and use your radar: every time you shoot or drive a car, you show up on the enemy's radar. same thing happends when your enemies shoot or drive. use it, and be aware of it. if you drive too close to an objective, dont be surprised if all the enemy team is waiting for you. 4)your teammates are 3 things, but you Are not 1: you got companions in your team. these companions can be treated as cannon fodder(sending them first into that hallway with 90% of chances that there is somebody with a true ogre on the other side just waiting for you, hoping he will hurt your enemy enough so you can take the kill), distraction (you flank while they try to survive the incomming fire and grenades) or teammates (you actually fight along them). you'll have to evaluate what is your companion depending on his skill level and situation, and act accordingly. so, those are the 3 things your companions are. but there is one thing you're not: a hero. you're not rambo, you're not superman, so please, dont solo rush a enemy base with 4 players just waiting for you. use your companions. -
N-TEC : Should it be NERFED?
TheOppositePolarBear replied to Zealocke's topic in General Discussion Archive
i mean... i cant even complain if that happends, "healthy community discussions"? they also removed the n-tec's hability to 6 shot kill up to 40mts with heavy barrel on, remember that too -
oh poor soul trapped in the "non-belongingness of apb", we know it sucks, but keep it toghether! there is a way out! contact fluctuators anonymous and start your treatment today! for reference, i'll leave this here: a phasing system would be a pretty powerful tool for incrasing the player pool for the matchmaking system. that said, from what i've heard, apb's code is as chaotic as the game itself. i hope they can put some order in it so they can implement cool systems like that.
-
ah, yes. for one second i thought you meant "lets kill the matchmaking system and replace it with a good tutorial". i was going to suggest to play "welcome to the jungle" at the end of that tutorial some jericho players thinks this has been a BR game since hoplon's server's demise. ... PLEASE tell me you got that joke
-
im just going to use your suggestion to say this: any system we implement should also take in consideration premade teams. i just lost a couple of games, not necesarily because the oposition was better than us, but because they were pre-made, communicated teams, working as teams, while we were a team of randoms with no comms, no teamwork, no synergy. at some point, premade teams do a real difference. are you suggestion to improve the tutorial and then let the matchmaking treat us all as equals? read the whole thread please, we've already discussed how it was attempted and it almost killed the game. dont hate me for this post just after my last one. i just re-read the thread and decided i wanted to answer to a couple more posts. really, im not doing it for the postcount
-
i would, but you'll be unaware of my presence soon enough =P dear Bingo: read the thread beafore giving your opinion. we talked for the most part about option 2. if you cant be bothered to read the thread because you're a busy man playing bingo while reading books, let me summarize it for you: option 2 has been tried. it almost killed the game. regards, with lots of love, The Opposite Polar Bear thank you :3 i really dont know exactly what kind of changes we need, but the whole thing needs to be reworked. i dont really think its a matter of -making it harder to dethreat-, but to -fix the reason why people dethreat in the first place-, i know we like to think of dethreaters as scrumbags who only likes to stump on newbies, but there are lots of players that get gold, go to a silver district, and then they proceed to get destroyed in the most obscene ways. they see how gold players with 5000+ hours in the game play, and they really dont feel like they deserve the gold status. its the "non belongingness" of APB, you're too good to belong to the bronze district, yet too bad to belong to the silver one, so you eather suck it up and git gud, or you dethreat and go back to the dark whole you came from... i mean, you go back to the bronze district. another thing we might(enfasis in "might", as i dont have much experience in what im about to say, and i also only have jericho experience, dont know how stuff is in the other side of the atlantic) need to pay attention to, is the "skill culture" generated by the segregation of the playerbase in different districts (did i sound too SJW?) let me explain: both silver and bronze district uses different standards to rule who is gold and who is silver. i havent played too much in the bronze district, but from what i've been able to see, regular gold dethreaters that plays mostly in the bronze district are a LOT worst than regular silvers that plays in the silver district. its like APB threat system goes like this: bronze -> silver(bronze district) -> gold (bronze district) -> silver (silver district) -> gold(silver district) i wonder if unaware is aware of this little messenge over here :3
-
1) what do you mean by that? i mean - its not like people doesnt connect to the gold district because of performance issues 2) after one of the lasts jericho DDoS attacks (remember that sometimes, after a DDoS, the server loses its capability to create new districts, confirmed by matt) the gold district was active with between 25 and 35 players of each faction IRC
