  1. Ive said it a million times on these forums, threat segregation only works on high pop games. There's a handful of ways to fix dethreating and LO is taking the "Do nothing" route which is hands down the worst way to go about it. And yah, lets ban more people due to the games mechanics being the issue to lower the population even more. Idiots, idiots everywhere.
  2. Man, too many assumptions sir. Who said I was riled up or even remotely angry? All I was doing was stating that not all controller players in multiple gaming mediums aren't as bad as everyone says they are. Again you're dismissing me because of your personal feelings/experiences and not the actual truth of the matter. What about all the worlds best Halo players, Gears players and multiple other shooting games that are played on consoles? To be a world class shooting gamer using a controller on a console requires thousands if not millions of other players using controllers as well. In order to be #1 ya gotta have a #2, etc. There are literally thousands and thousands of amazing controller players out there who play shooting games exceptionally well and you know I'm right. My statements are based around actual truths that you and anyone else can go look up for yourselves. 0 personal opinions, 100% facts that can be researched and seen by anybody who has access to the internet. However, you claiming all controller players are 100% dead in the water vs all keyboard/mouse players in APB if they were to be merged is a 100% assumption based on your feelings/opinions. On top of that, when you add in the fact that the vast majority of APB players on PC are silvers and bronze players as well, that becomes an even farther reaching blind assumption. My favorite part about this conversation is that I actually agree that console players if merged with PC players in APB would get beat up but my opinion is based around me being a PC elitist. But I'm trying to be subjective here and not use my personal opinion to sway my view on the matter. Lastly, the 30% statement didn't help either as it's another made up statistic based on personal feelings/opinions and cannot be substantiated in literally any shape or form. I have no idea where the 30% value is even made up from. But I guess.
  3. Huh?? Are you for real???? What you just said is so absurdly incorrect it literally looks like you're just dismissing it blindly just because I disagreed with you. If you looked into the FGC before judging it saying they require no skill, you would almost immediately see that you're not even 1% correct on this issue. Fighting games are difficult especially at the top tier in the world. Single frame attacks/reaction times is something most people in the world aren't able to do. They literally take hundreds if not thousands of hours of practice to do, because you need to know every single character in the game on a frame by frame basis. There are no shooting games that require this level of detailed knowledge. Hitting pixel shots in a shooting game requires immense skill. Frame by frame knowledge of 15+ characters at any given time in a fighting game is on some whole other level of skill. With all due respect if you're telling me that took no skill, you're lying to yourself. Cmon man. And for the record, no one in a FG tournament has EVER pulled that same feat off other than this one time because parrying that many attacks in a row is virtually impossible to pull off unless you're a god in Street Fighter, which Diago Umehara without question is. Furthermore, last I checked, Fortnite is a third person shooter game just like APB. Hate on it all you want, there's pro players in that game who have already made hundreds of thousands of dollars successfully using controllers and/or phones to play the game. In fact in the World Cup for it a few weekends ago in the Duos Bracket there were 2 teams that placed top 15 including the team who took 2nd place. There were also a handful of players who practiced almost solely on their phones/consoles and used scuff/xbox elite controllers at the actual tournament and they annihilated keyboard/mouse players. And it was a PC Lan event, so they had to use a medium that they weren't even accustomed to and they still beat everybody up. https://www.gameinformer.com/2019/07/28/player-takes-second-place-in-fortnites-world-cup-duos-using-a-controller - He won 2.25 MILLION dollars. That's not exactly a small payout. And let's not even talk about Gears of War players who pull off the impossible with scuff controllers on a regular basis and have been doing so since Gears 1 and are still doing it today. So again, dismissing my response just because you disagree even though you clearly don't know any of the facts behind it, isn't enough. Cmon sir, you're waaaaaaaaaaaay smarter than that. I'm sorry if I've offended you. I'm not here to argue with ya, but cmon man. Cmon.
  4. Not all controller players are bad contrary to popular belief. I heard the guy who took 2nd place in the Fortnite World Cup for solo bracket was a controller player. And he made what, 1.8 million dollars or so in the process over literal millions of mouse/keyboard players to qualify for the tournament before stomping almost everyone in it. Also in fighting game tournaments for games like Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat while most players use fight sticks to simulate arcade gameplay, there are many top tier players who still use controllers like Punk, Snake Eyez and most importantly SonicFox who has won at Evo (the super bowl of fighting games held at Vegas) for at least one game a year for the last like 4-5 years in a row making him the all around winningest fighting game player of all-time already I'm pretty sure.
  5. What's the point of these new rules being added in? The vast majority of the people who post on these forums should be getting warnings/suspensions nonstop if these rules are fairly enforced across the board and not just cherry picked by moderators. The majority of all the threads as well as the posts within them will just be mass deleted and everyone will be on moderator warning/suspensions. It just comes across like you can't say/do nothing on the forums without getting in trouble now, while at the same time for the last like 7 years you can cheat in FC all day and night and no one seems to care. (because no one ever seems to get banned from cheating in FC anymore because it's always the same people over and over blatantly cheating without recourse) Just imagine for one second, if the actual in-game GM's were that efficient we wouldn't have a cheater problem anymore.
  6. Lets be real here, any shotgun is god tier if you're corner camping AND you know how to aim. Also if youre the type who sits in cars nonstop in missions and just drives around and charges people, again, any shotgun works as long as you can aim.
  7. Maaan in my year and change in Ac3s, we never did anything like this haha rip. You posted this in 2014, I left ac3s in 2012 ripppp
  8. Yeah I meant Scotland not Ireland. Im a trash American, sorry for getting them mixed up. I never worked for RTW, just for K2/G1 and was there for the entire buyout and acquisition of APB. Regardless, everybody at RTW was grossly overpaid and fucked off a lot of money. I hope they had a good vacation at least while it lasted.
  9. From RTW: Beating up a quarter of an entire district in a single mission because matchmaking was a hilarious shitshow. From G1 CBT/OBT: Amancia and Cheeball symbol/outfit designs and Breaking Bads.
  10. Imagine trying to build something. Lets use a car for example. It's a 100% new car with all new specs so everything has to be drawn out to scale 100%. Then imagine a group in say, India, creating the entire engine block and bay's specs, but the actual engine is made in Australia. Then the overall body design is made in Scotland but actually made in Korea. Then the transmission is designed in Australia but it's actually made in Scotland. And the interior is designed in Ireland but made in India. And the paint and extra stuff is designed in the United States but is actually made in India, Scotland, Australia, Korea and the UK. And no body talks to each other, not once. You cant ask anybody from a different location a single question. Nothing. No matter what. You just have to assume the translations of the blueprints you were given were exactly correct and you have to blindly hope everything will just work out on it's own. 100% blind faith. They all finish their parts and mail 3/4ths of it to Scotland and a quarter of it to the UK for them to compile and make it all fit into a single car even tho the UK office and the Ireland office have never talked to each other. And before the final result is given, every single person involved gets multiple pay raises, weeks and sometimes month+ long vacations, constant bonuses and are only given the good news and never the bad news. Also no one is allowed to QA the product or review the product as they have such a strict NDA on the car that anyone who says anything about it will get either sued or issued an immediate cease and desist order. What do you think will be the outcome in the end? RTW's All Points Bulletin.
  11. Wasn't MyWorld the only other game they was working on? According to Wikipedia it was like 3 million USD. That's nothing when the budget was 100 million. RTW hemorrhaged money due to mismanagement. Davey Jones back then was hailed as literally the greatest Developer of all-time. He made GTA and Crackdown and everyone knew his past projects had already yielded like a billion dollars therefore he could "do no wrong". Turns out they was wrong and he fucked up a metric shitload. Proof: https://lukehalliwell.wordpress.com/2010/09/15/where-realtime-worlds-went-wrong/ Enjoy the read lol
  12. Also in RTW, the game was under NDA for the entire time until it was released. It had next to no press, I have no idea why Davey Jones was so animate about not having anyone try the game and review it. So when it was released the playerbase was dismal at best. Every single person I talked to about APB had never heard of it. A game where at the time was one of the most expensive games ever made, no one had heard of. APB was destined to fail since before it was ever released unfortunately.
  13. Im not a fan of running with an item... However, that blue armas jeep that was out in CBT/OBT used to be sooooo fun to run items with. Too bad they nerfed the trunk size for it, so it could no longer hold medium items, then followed that up with nerfing the acceleration speed of vehicles holding items. But it was fun for a minute haha. Same vehicle was OP to run in when you was VIP also! ^ that jeep! I want to say it was like 2-3 years before the Guerilla Warfare customizable jeep was released on Armas. Could be mistaken.
  14. Excessive vacations, overpaying employees and greasing hands. They had devs in multiple locations all working on the game and they didn't communicate very well with each other. Hence why some parts of the game are properly made and others arent but when put together causes all kinds of bugs. (like cars flying, etc). I know 2 guys who worked in an office in South Korea that worked on APB, they said their managers were guys in India who didn't have direct access to their work, but regardless they was their bosses. There was also an Australian office that did some of the assets as well. The rest was UK and Ireland I believe. I worked for K2 Networks from 06 to 10, including during the merger with G1. In my time there, they used the same South Korean studio to make a bunch of the assets for War Rock, MU Online, Sword 2, Knight Online and APB. The entire time I was there, G1 had 0 in-house coders, programmers, or any type of developers at all in their Irvine, CA office contrary to popular belief. They still worked with the Ireland office but they also had the South Korean office and at one point during CBT they also got helped from I want to say either an Indian or Australian office to work on some assets also.. aaaand it cost a shitload of money to pay them all. They'd do EXACTLY what they was told to do and nothing more or less. They also didnt QA ANY of their code, they just did what was told of them. So K2/G1 had to QA their own stuff in house in Irvine which was an absolute clusterfuck and nightmare, send the code back to Korea/Ireland/India/Aussieville, get it changed, and sent back. The delays were long, the work hours was long and tedious and the results were very sub-par at best. And more than all of that, it was exceptionally expensive - but still cheaper than hiring American in-house devs because back in 05-08 with games like WoW blowing up, the cost of hiring American dev's was overwhelmingly expensive. Remember they changed the game like 2-3 times before it became RTW's APB. GTA Online, Crackdown Online, and like 1-2 other games. Every single time they changed projects they had to scrap some stuff, keep some stuff, hire/fire/rehire employees, etc. It was just a massively expensive project that barely got released in the end. Fun fact if Rockstar didn't back out around 60% of the original creation of the game, it'd of cost less than 30 million and would've been released as GTA Online. Too bad Rockstar didn't believe online gameplay would've been successful so they bailed last minute. Also the contract with Webzen from what I remember cost an absolute shitload of money. It was originally supposed to be for the XBox 360 only, so reporting the entire game to PC was a pretty big undertaking. Davey Jones didn't want it to be a half-patootie port, so they were forced to recreate almost all of the entire back end. It's like when Diablo 3 came out for console, almost 80% of the entire game had to be completely remade which is why D4 for console cost more to make than D4 for PC. (I worked at Blizzard for almost 15 years.) Also for the record, RTW had 0 security in APB. Every single cheat, triggerbot, etc worked. Everything. Even outdated cheats. They had literally 0 anti-cheat measures in place. I don't want to say everybody cheated in RTW, but if you think APB:R was bad under G1, you have no idea how bad it was for RTW. That';s why when people talk about how great RTW's APB was, I laugh in their faces cus it's a flat out bullshoot story. RTW APB was massively unbalanced, guns took forever to kill, and the vast majority of the top tier players were all cheating. Yay for working in the video game industry! ^^
  15. Phasing is going to take a lot more actual work to implement, as well as requires a lot more actual hardware than what is currently available to make work. When Blizzard swapped to phasing technology for World of Warcraft, they had to improve all the hardware on their servers and in some places had to actually get more physical servers also. Without these updates, the servers would chug super slower than before and the in-game auto updating when a player crosses from one phase to the other would lag even worse. Im not saying LO isn't prepared for that, nor am I saying they lack the money or the hardware to pull this off, but I will say that what Ive seen so far from them is a lot of promises, half-assed gun changes, a new game mode that is extremely buggy and nearly unplayable and Armas store changes. With that being said, I'm concerned that while they throw out the idea of phasing technology like it's no big deal, they also did the same for the engine update followed by months of MattScott apologizing saying "It's been a lot harder than we all originally thought." I dont see that being any different with the phasing technology they're hoping to implement. Just removing the threat system and using OC full time is a LOT faster and dramatically easier to implement. They wouldnt need to get any new hardware or stuff like that. And it's a change that could be implemented in a relatively far shorter timeframe than waiting for the Engine update THEN adding phasing. The game is dying. Everyone knows it. Change has to happen sooner than later or it will be too late. It's been over a year since LO took over and the people who first showed up when LO bought G1 was all hoping for a rapid release of the engine update. I was one of them too. But the reality is, they're barely figuring out what they're actually working with and even when they figured it out, they're still struggling to get the job done. If that wasn't the truth, we'd of had the engine update already. It is what it is.
  16. Oh this old thing? *blows dust off CBT title* lol hey if Zombie gets to gloat, I want in too! Now downvote away! Gogogo!
  17. It proves that OC works and the overall system is why it failed. It was never implemented properly, it was destined to fail by default. With that being said, I'd much rather have popular names/clans that run the mission aspect of the game which is what is already been happening btw, vs some colored logo next to my name that dictates who I am as a player. Who gives a shit about the entire elo system for this game, it was implemented for a reason that was never fullfilled in RTW aka leaderboards and rank play. It holds 0 water and credibility in this game ever, low tier golds are no different than almost all silvers and bronzies/green players are just automatic cannon fodder in missions literally because of their threat level. How many of you have done missions with friends and when the OP is called in you press tab and go "Ok, so we're fighting Glaciers he's a gold hes pretty good, and 2 silvers and a bronze." You dont even assign the silvers or bronze players names, they're just "2 silvers and a bronze". You know why? Because the game has basically forced players who arent casual to address people of lower threat this way. Silvers and bronze players are literally "free" in missions vs gold teams. They never improve, they do the same basic fuzzy bunny tactics every single time and they are the more predictable than the random cars on the street driven by NPCs who always crash into you in missions when you wish they didn't. That's why there are so many 255 or 195+ silver/low tier gold players in this game. They NEVER got better, and lets not lie to each other here, you and I both know good god damn well they wished they was gold threat but they never made it because they spent too much time fighting people of the same skill level or lower to rank up so they will always get smashed by actual gold players. It's not the gold players faults at all this happens; we didnt force the silver/bronze players into bronze districts, the game itself did. Show me a full gold district and Ill never play in a silver district again. Too bad that wont happen, and why? Because threat segregation ONLY WORKS on games with BIG POPULATIONS. Absolute facts. Take anything competitive and tell me you can improve by just playing low skill players in it. If youre low skill also, sure you may get a little better, but in the big picture, you will always be low skill. It's the undeniable truth. Lets use, chess for example. You're gonna tell me a low skill chess player will be on some Bobby Fischer talent level by just playing vs bots his skill level or people barely better than them? Cmon man, they'll never be able to sit at the same table as a pro chess player because they never got better. You only improve in ANYTHING competitive by actually grinding it out vs people your skill level and higher. I dont care if it's sports, e-sports, competitive tabletop games, whatever. It doesn't matter. The moment anyone settles for easier competition in order to feel better about themselves is the literal moment they will be locked at the same skill level forever or until they get their head off their shoulders and actually push to do better. There was a time in APB where ALL servers had super duper amazing top tier players who rolled in full groups or in clans and they all tried their best and put in actual work. Then the cheaters showed up because they was tired of losing all the time to these clans and teams and literally ran all the top tier players off the game. Those who stayed come and go here and there but never play the game full time anymore. From what I've seen on Jericho there are 0 top tier clans/premade teams from say, 2-5 years ago who was still playing full time today. There's only 1 team Ive seen still play and while when they are legit they are amazing, they used to be hardcore cheaters for years under G1 because they couldn't hang vs the best teams so I dont really count them. OC is hands down the only way to fast-track fixing threat segregation. It just removes it all together. Ive been around since CBT on RTW and Ive seen a lot, way too many, methods, variants, tests, whatever you want to call it that "fixes" matchmaking yet at the end of the day 2 factors have never changed: Dethreating and Golds pubstomping silvers. Neither of these methods will ever be fixed unless A. The game gets like a few thousand more players to actually make matchmaking/threat segregation worth using or B. The system itself is removed. People always say they dont wanna throw the threat system away, it's been around for all these years, blah blah blah. My answer to them is this, change isn't always great but would you rather keep the house in it's perpetual constant rotting state or would you rather tear down the foundations and rebuild the house stronger and better than it ever was? Get off that holding onto the past and memories bullshoot and think about the actual big picture, saving the god damn game as a whole. The players are constantly leaving, people are still cheating... and we have Riot mode. Next to nothing has changed. Nothing will change until something major happens. The engine update will be like when LO bought the game; a few hundred, maybe even a thousand people will come and play.... and in 90 days or less they will quit again. Because the basic fundamentals that make APB NOT worth playing for the majority is still present and unchanged. Im sorry but it's the truth. This forum is full of low tier gold players and silvers who have managed to convince @MattScott of their personal agendas. Sure new players are the ones buying stuff on armas, and silvers are the majority of the game. However, catering to the, with all due respect, bottom tier of the game is why this game is at the lowest population right now than it's ever been. LO needs to stop catering to the casuals who don't want change and want to keep smashing other silvers and low tier golds and actually listen to the people who see the big picture of the game. People who want to see the game succeed. All this talking heads bullshittery on the forums is like a giant circle jerk; someone posts something valid and the silvers and forum trolls downvote it and the devs look over it and don't read it. Meanwhile the silvers/low tier golds post dumb ideas and the other like-minded boneheads upvote it and @MattScott and LO jumps all over it. This game is going to die because LO is literally marching to the beat of the wrong peoples' drums.
  18. @MattScott At what point is APB going to stop pushing for threat segregation and realize that bronze/silvers will NEVER improve until they learn to fight against players who are actually good at the game? You dont get better unless you actively go out of your way to get better. Settling to fighting people who also dont have a clue will result in sub par results where neither side improves. Keep whining about segregating silvers and bronzies from gold players and watch this game never improve or get better. Downvote and QQ all you guys want, OC was the single best district in the game because while it was relatively a dead district I admit, regardless, like it or not, it WORKED. The only reason why it failed was because they didn't remove regular Fin and WF first. Make OC the standard and people WILL play it. You want to see full 100/100 districts on every server? Then remove regular districts and replace them with OC and force people to actually put in effort to get better. Stop spoon-feeding bronze players other newbie bronze players forever and ever; it's 100% counter productive, heavily encourages bronze/silvers to hackusate golds because they "win all the time" vs other bronze/silvers so in their minds they "have to be cheating", makes bronze/silvers ragequit and many who dont quit end up cheating to "compete vs golds" or whatever bullshoot excuses they tell themselves to feel like their cheating is validated cus lets face it most cheaters in APB of all-time were silvers/low tier golds who couldn't compete vs the best players. The entire threat system in this game is designed for a game with literally tens of thousands of players. In a game with barely 1k players in NA, segregating the shit out of all of them literally doesn't pass the common sense test. People on this forum may disagree but lets face it, none of them make video games for a living and the majority of them have 0 clue what actual balancing means because they use their personal feelings to judge what is balanced vs an actual real QA Dev for gaming companies know they have to put their personal feelings aside and make judgement calls that actually benefit the entire game not just their personal agendas. Facts. In my nearly 2 decades of working for Blizzard and other gaming companies, I've seen a lot of QA devs get fired because they was too busy wanting changes for themselves and not for the overall benefit of the game. Also, OC is the ONLY PROVEN way get rid of dethreaters which is hands down the biggest issue new players face in this game. Not a single method used or even suggested in APB's history has countered dethreaters in the slightest, except for OC. Like it or not, and I know you forum nerds won't like it, but it's still the absolute truth. You don't have to like it, but you know deep down inside I'm not bullshitting lol. So please LO, stop flopping around all willy nilly implementing crap that is 100% irrelevant and actually DO SOMETHING to save the game. Thanks. Ohshii
  19. Cause complaining nonstop is far easier than making any actual effort.
  20. G1 had no in-house coders. They had to send their shit to Korea to have it done, then wait for them to send it back. QA it, resend, wait, etc. It's the exact same process all KR gaming companies do. LO has guys in the same building as them in California that can do it. So yes, it is a less-than-a-month thing. It's a less than a week thing if they tried. There's coders who are just players who can do it in a day or two. With all the free cheats and modifications for this game, certainly you can probably name a few of those programmers yourself.
  21. They spent a whole year making a game mode that 100% failed front to back. It would take less than a month to make a Gifting system, dont lie to yourself.
  22. Wah people are playing the game the way I dont want them to LO do something about it! hahaha cmon man, grow the fuck up already lol
