Gamersfirst Anti-Cheat (GFAC)

 

We're excited to announce that we will be releasing the very first version of our In-house Anti-Cheat in this update. Building this Anti-Cheat from scratch was a major task and we're excited to finally get it out there so it can start to learn and mature and be as effective as combating cheaters as possible. We do not expect this new Tech to be flawless or completely solve the cheating issue from the get-go, it will take some time to mature but we're making a commitment to keep working on and improving the Anti-Cheat until we're satisfied with the results.

 

If you're encountering any technical issues with the new Anti-Cheat please let us know.

 

Leaderboards

 

PvP Games are inherently competitive so we want to lean a bit more into the aspect of who comes out on top, to do so we're introducing our first version of Leaderboards. We're starting out rather small so we can experiment what sticks and what doesn't but overall the system is designed to be for everyone with rewards that anyone can collect by playing the game as well as rewards given to the Top Percentile within the Leaderboard similar to how Fightclubs work.

 

We're excited to expand on this system based on feedback and want to shape it into something that really scratches that itch for those wanting to show off in a more competitive way.

 

Premium

 

Premium has been revamped with new pricing, rewards and benefits and you can read all about it in our Premium revamp blogpost!

 

Game Balance

 

Teleporting into cars

 

In this update we're removing the ability to instantly teleport into vehicles when a player is close enough to the door but is unable to play the animation of opening said door. This mechanic has become an extremely popular tool especially at the top end of play but has created an unhealthy way to play the game leading to a meta that is unsustainable in the long run. Because of this we're removing the ability to instantly teleport into cars if certain conditions are met, instead, players will now walk up to the door and if they can access the door but not play the animation it will show an objective circle playing for 1.7 seconds after which they will be teleported into the car.

 

OBIR

 

  • Effective Range increased from 45 meters to 50 meters.

 

Dev note: The recent nerfs to the OBIR have been successful at making the gun less frustrating to play against but have overshot at keeping it a viable option compared to guns like the Oblivion. To help with this we're partially reverting the range nerf it received during the New Horizon update.

 

OCA-SD

 

The OCA-SD weapon archetype has been redudant for many years primarily due to being unable to use Cooling Jacket which is the go-to mod for SMG Weapons. To help with this we have decided to retire to OCA-SD Weapon Archetype and having all weapons that previously used the OCA-SD Archetype use the OCA 'Whisper' archetype instead.

 

OCA 'Whisper'

 

  • Effective Range reduced from 50 meters to 30 meters.
  • Minimum Damage range increased from 5 meters to 20 meters.

 

Dev note: The OCA 'Whisper' had significantly more range than the other OCA variants as a means to double down on its original design intend of being a longer-ranged version of the OCA thanks to its added Accuracy benefit when crouching. The OCA 'Whisper' has seen a couple of changes over the past years so this added range is no longer required to allow the gun to be relevant, thus we're lowering its range to that of the regular OCA meaning its damage starts to drop off at 30 meters gradually until hitting the lowest damage at 50 meters.

 

Valzipram Tablets 

 

  • Effectiveness reduced from 100% to 75%.

 

Dev note: Valzipram is the clear winner when it comes to the overall strength of Blue Character mods so we're applying a slight nerf to the overall effectiveness of the mod. This will make it so cars will now need a minimum speed of 15.75cm/s rather than 18cm/s to kill a player.

 

Explosives Vehicle Mod

 

  • The Radius increase in which the exploding vehicle does its full damage has been decreased from 15/30/45% to 5/10/20%.

 

Dev note: This change aims to combat the effectiveness of parking cars next to players, getting out and not engaging with the player but rather running away hoping Remote Detonator kills the person. This method of getting kills feels extremely unfun to play against and can often be frustrating so we're reducing the increase the Explosive mod provides to the radius in which a car can deal its full damage with the hopes that it should now be possible to get out of the instant-kill radius of the vehicle before it blows up more reliably which will result in more interactive combat between the two players.

 

Miscellaneous

 

  • Fixed an issue related to weapon accuracy.
  • Increased the spawn capacity for many car spawners in Financial.
  • The ATAC 'Watchman' now has two open slots rather than coming preset with Hunting Sight 3 and Cooling Jacket 3.
  • Mission Task Marker Opacity now decreases by 80% when in Marksmanship mode.
  • Concussion Grenades now unlock at Level 2 of the Grenadier role.
  • Added new LaRocha & Zombie themed Graffitis in specific spots on Financial - Can you find them?

Frankly, these two changes have to be highlighted, as they are the most important change in this patch
GFAC is just another privacy concern, like other kernel-level access AC software, hence I will avoid writing about it (pros vs cons of such software decision can be found elsewhere)

1) Who came up with the splendid idea to add a 1.7 second delay in a fast-paced game, which is predominantly played in the 0.7s TTK range?
This change has the ability to single-handedly kill any serious endeavours in this game for any future player base, regardless of how much you scale down the timer.
Considering this game is now considered a competitive title (as per Matt's words from the AMA), how is this change supporting such crowd in any sense? It's like Valve removing bunny hopping or Apex removing tapstrafing, you only alienate any veteran players and any future, competitive players which you plan on receiving after EGS launch.
I assume there are numerious edge cases which weren't convered, so one has to invest even more time in ironing them out. Time, which can be better spent on much more important QoL changes.
Ironic that in the last 2 AMA's, most better QoL suggestions were scrubbed off as "negative work", while this "change" was pushed... a change which clearly has more downsides than upsides.
The sheer man-power which was invested in this "fix" should've been invested in much more important changes, such as fixing the atrocious >120 FPS sliding bug and the complete lack of a working frametime limiter solution, ideally based on Waitable Timers. The game has absolutely horrendous 1% and 0.1% lows...
Or, even better, allowing the user to place a ping around the area of a player without opening up the large map and finding the location of your character and then marking it.
Absolutely mindboggling change.

2) Why is such a huge change, related to weapon accuracy, scrubbed off and trivialized under the term "a issue"? 
Can you elaborate on what exactly has changed? It's clearly not miniscule, if it seemingly affected all guns.

Very glad to see the OCA Whisper being placed where it ACTUALLY belongs. When you announced making everything on par with  the Whisper stats I really would have loved it the other way around due to the OP range but now that it is nerfed I have absolutely nothing against the change to make everything using the same statline.

I think it's weird to get rid of this without also setting a speed limit on exiting moving vehicles as well.

is the game up? can anyone enter?
I am stuck on trying to start the game. It constantly leads me to scanning and then updating and when start button is provided and i press it, nothing happens. APB doesnt open, just vanishes from processes task.
Each time i start application each time its all over scanning, all over updating and then after pressing start again nothing happens!!!
Can someone confirm that they managed to enter apb?

@MageLO apb.exe keeps crashing on start...after each time starting the apb launcher it updates scans everything then gives start button. After pressing Start, apb shows for second in tasks processes and then just vanishes without initializing or doing pretty much anything else.
I hope you guys will work it out. Thanks in advance ❤️ 
P.S. i am using gamersfirst client not steam so maybe client has some problems
P.S. 2 i got nod32 anti-virus and i excluded GFAC from being interfered so thats not it

In both cases u mentioned it "Apex and CS", it's movement techniques which takes hours to learn and much more hours to make it an advantage.
What we had with animation cancelling to get into cars was straight up an advantage to "Car Gameplay", it's not a technique and it's not movement related so I don't see your point being valid, you don't need to "learn and practice", it doesn't take skill to do it, it's simply "put ur car into a position where your character won't make the animation" and voilà.   
You also said "Considered this game is now considered a competitive title" huh? when APB started to be considered a competitive title? There's no ranked matches, there's no Skill Based Matchmaking, the only thing APB had something competitive related was a Community League that's not active for some Years already. The game was full of cheaters and macro users, don't come with the argument about competitive in a game full of cheaters 🤡

A typical silver with a detonator in a car appears once out of a hundred times.… Oh, yes, this is a huge problem for short-sighted idiots who know how to shoot and do not know how to think and draw conclusions. 
Maybe we should add a sprint delay timer after dropping a heavy object? 
Maybe we should add some kind of restriction when calling escalation by an idiot leader? 
Maybe you should limit the escalation call if the mission timer is less than 2 minutes?
Maybe should I add the task points to the map before entering the area?
Maybe it's worth repairing the OPGL grenade collision, and removing the stupid crutch from the game that changes the trajectory of grenades and missiles near cars.
Maybe it's worth improving the characteristics of shotguns, reducing the unpredictability of damage?
Maybe we should return the bullet collision to the cars of third-party players? And to combat the problem of grifers, make cars vulnerable to bullets outside of missions?  
Maybe it's worth changing how the Piercing modifier works? By adding a wall thickness measurement. This will make it possible not to change the collision of armored glass fences. 
Maybe it's worth prohibiting the use of client modifications and the use of ultra-low graphics settings?
This list can be continued.…
There are a lot of problems in the game that cause the WTF question!!??? These problems have not been solved for years. New problems are being added to these problems, and they also remain unresolved (hello escalation). I am sure that the leaderboards will also cause problems not only of a technical nature, but also problems of interaction between players. And these problems will also be ignored.
You have been running from anti-cheat to anti-cheat for many years, each time claiming that a bright future would come. And then, in a few months, they made their own anti-cheat.… If it works, then you're fu.....ng magicians.

Kinda sad that one of THE golden rules and staples of APB:R survival strategies I've set up out there to the public is being adjusted.
I always felt like these things in particular had SO MUCH APB soul to it.

But alas, I suppose that for new players this would... make sense? It will probably not help them much though. Advanced players will now try to avoid entering like this and newer players I can imagine will fall prone to it.

But if the newbies get a clean kill once in a blue moon cause a veteran tried to enter their car, I'm all for it.

Same problem here, i have my suspicions the game doesnt want me...

same..told my antivirus blockin it but even both(apb directory and GFAC)in ignore/trust list-doesnt change sht
saw on discord another guy also had this problem and hes with win defender so is not AV the problem i guess

You've just described a gameplay mechanic which requires intrinsic knowledge of the game (positioning of car, knowing what angles are appropriate etc.)
That is a tool in the arsenal of a good player. It only raises the skill ceiling.

You're free to direct those questions to Matt Scott, who has uttered the words that "APB is a competitive game" in the last 2 AMA's.

I think that your skill level is questionable, considering the hyperbole in your statements.
Based on what data do you exclaim that "the game is full of cheaters"?
The game currently has a population of ~300 players.
Out of those players, the amount of times I've faced a blatant cheater can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
As for "closets", I think they're a even smaller minority in this 300 pop game. Most of the "closet" accusations are usually worse players baselessly attacking better players for outplaying them.

In the situation you described, there is a huge problem that is caused by a set of disadvantages of various game systems. A silver-level player is less aware of the various loopholes in game mechanics. He draws conclusions based on his gaming experience in other projects. Imagine an opponent with OCA Whisper, graphics configuration, automatic running.  OCA Whisper does not affect the Silver player's health interface in any way. The graphics configuration removes the problem of stuttering. Automatic running allows you to change the direction of movement instantly. This gives a great advantage, but for some reason it is not a scam. How does a gold player differ from a cheater in the eyes of a silver player? Nothing.

@MageLO Tagging you sir so you can see the post sooner. 
i urge those people who are on LO discord that they report the problem with launching apb.exe since I see several other peoples got same issue as me. 
After starting APB launcher each time its scanning all files, then it goes over all updating including AC then start button does nothing and APB.exe vanishes from task manager processes after few seconds after i press start the game.
With nod32 anti virus i excluded both APB and AC folders but it doesnt change anything, so anti virus aint the issue.  I tried updating my graphic driver and am trying to solve apb problem since morning and its frustrating by now to say at least >.> 

@ all people in lil orbit discord -someone pls report that to Lil orbit so that they can be aware of the problem and start solving it.

“all the blue character mods suck except valzipram, so we nerfed valzipram and the other blue mods still suck”

I use the APB advanced launcher downloaded from the GamersFirst website to force everything related to graphics to max possible.  With GFAC etc can we still use advanced launcher?

 I recieved the 1500jt yet my clan title cannot be used or is grey, and on armas it says Subscribe, after the purchase i checked it n it still says im not subscribed, 

and that a cc is needed. 

 Is this for recurring billing? and why is my clan title not usable as a title?
