Why Matt Scott support cheaters?

The thing is, Matt isn’t a gamer. I actually had the same conversation about cheaters with him a few years ago, and I told him back then who was cheating and how you can spot it just by watching closely even without any anycheat. I got the feeling he knew it was a problem but didn’t want to deal with it for some reason.

 

Many players (even cheat developers) have said that at least 30% of the player base is cheating. Ironically, it’s usually actual cheaters who deny this, claiming it’s a lie. It has always been cheaters spreading misinformation, defending ridiculous decisions like unbans, and insisting on false ban narratives. In reality, false bans account for less than 0.1% - I personally know a guy who was unbanned after loudly claiming he was falsely banned, even though he was blatantly cheating. He was using program that many players from this forums are still using and they were also banned and unbanned after.

 

So yes, this game is cheater-friendly. In its current state, it’s too late to ban all the cheaters - there wouldn’t even be one full district left. I’m sure Matt realizes now how bad that decision was back then. G1 understood that fighting cheaters is still better than trying to please everyone and mostly listening to cheaters, just because many of them are streamers or very active users. 

 

Creating FFBans brought a lot of players back. People knew that sooner or later, the most obvious cheaters would get bannedwhether they were streamers, well-known players, or paying users. But everything went downhill after they disabled it and started pushing an anti-legit agenda. And here we are. I said back then that it would end like this, but they thought they knew better

 

Since the only way to fight cheaters in the game is to not play against them (just stay AFK), at this point, it feels like the only real way to fix the game is to stop playing it altogether. I quit a long time ago, and honestly, I’m glad I did.

 

P.S. Imagine this - cheaters were actually whining on the forums that staying AFK against them should be bannable. I remember people getting mad in a cheater’s stream chat when he got matched against my team a few times in a row and we just AFK’d every mission. After the fourth or fifth AFK game, he rage quit, complaining that it should be bannable, how lame it was, and throwing out all sorts of nonsense. I still recommend do afk if you face cheaters - its the only thing that makes them mad.

I guess I must be cheating then because while I don’t know if you would actually get banned for it (that would seem harsh), going AFK in missions because you think someone is cheating is griefing. 

It’s better and kinder to just log out and log back in. That way the people who wanted to play that mission still can. 
 

For real just be nice and /exit and then relaunch. We have CDMM now so you wouldn’t even have to spam join if the district is full and there is currently no penalty for doing this. 

I really wish I could ask who the streamer was, but no name and shame so I’ll let it go.

I dont agree with the being afk unless the cheat is on your team and being real obvious. 

Because I wouldn't want to help him screw the other people.  That said. 

Being kind to these hoodlums is not in my programming. 

Cheats are Frauds, Crooks, Thugs with a computer.

Now you have to remember these people went well out of their way to ruin the game. 

So missions are off the table, unless you like getting botted down and running back for another. 

Game is unplayable with such a high percentage of hackers in NA.

Matt has done nothing to create open world tasks for cops or crims. 

So in effect He has no Game, no product.

The only way to make money facing constant hacker stacked teams is to show up but throw. 

Fire off a couple shots there way n die.

No reason to try cuz the gold on your team will outscore you anyway, even if you do well.

Oh I've thought about making an alt account and buying some hax, just to kill the hax we have. 

But thats not gonna make them leave, for some reason this old game attracts hackers by the droves. 

And it's not enough for them to just hack out the missions, they will come n find you and troll you if you aren't a hacker.

So it's best to either uninstall and move on if you dont like the hackers, or go in knowing you are risking your account, 

and torture them. Because they aint going anywhere.

Now if you hack or like hackers this is the game for you, These are Your People

Legits are paying customers too... and more numerous... which is why it's UNHEARD OF for a game company to cater to cheaters at the expense of longsuffering legits... and the crashing collapse of APB's game population is a testament to the HORRIBLE decision making to both cater to the cheaters while ignoring the concerns of legit players.

He's definitely catered to the cheaters since the beginning... and the end result was thousands of players quit playing.. pretty horrible business decision.. since the cheating community... can't be larger than aprox 200,,, and easily 4,000 quit playing because... why play a competitive shooter when you're getting trashed by macroers, aimbots, ESP, no recoil, etc. The only incentive and reward is for cheating.

Hello, I saw that LO was going to bring new anti cheat system to APB and thought to myself why not give it a try.

 

I had 7/10 matches against one or many cheaters in same team and it was awful ... 

 

I'm old school player and I've loved this game soooo much! 

 

First they should have ticket system running and take very seriously every ticket that people send! 

 

We are the ones who will support this game to the end IF LO support us! LEGIT PLAYERS!

 

Second thing that LO should do is that when someone gets banned they get banned from game and also get hardware ban. I thought they already did that, but maybe cheaters can bypass that?

 

These two are main things why people quit not because there is nothing to do or some BS!

 

I spend my time designing stuff because I don't want to battle against cheaters.

 

One thing I like is that if you cannot find matches in your district, game asks you if you want to move districts to find one! Good one LO 

 

i just hope matchmaking should work bit faster. When you press k it should take Max 1min to start!

I think Matt has made it clear that he has no desire to ban people that were identified as cheating.

His concern that he voiced in the most recent AMA, was that he cannot be 1000% sure that they were cheating.

This does explain, I think to some degree, why the two "unban waves" that occurred in the last several years.

 

They are planning on introducing there own "home-brew" antcheat program, and for those player

that use 3rd party tools to cheat would suffer "sanctions" and the loss of features.
(not sure what features they would lose, time will tell)

 

I had another idea that LO might consider, although extremely radical and totally "out-of-the-box" thinking"

Since playing on a "level playing field" is almost impossible to achieve when players are using 3rd party tools,

why not just allow "ALL" 3rd party tools for all players ?

 

Macros with Triggerbots, no-recoil, consistent fire rate, or for those players that

don't mind paying a monthly subscription for some of those elite tools,

like Aimbot, Smooth Aim, ESP and whatnot,

everyone then would all be on a level playing field.

 

Granted, it would remove the "competitive gameplay" from the game, but at least

we would all be playing on a level playing field.

I mean, we're really not afforded a competitive game play experience as it is now.

Kind of like "May the best aimbot win" kind of approach.

 

Ok, ok, so maybe some of the long time cheaters might not like this approach much,

cause, the loss of a distinctive advantage and all.

 

But at least the legit players of today, can enjoy playing on a level playing field.

Hell, LO could ditch their in house developed anticheat, and release a Premium Only

version of their Aimbots and ESP.

 

I think this would be a WIN WIN for both the players and LO.

Okayyyyyy, your out of box idea seems fair after years of pain from cheaters destroying APB... But, I wouldn't do that.

 

Someone told in last ama that this game should have kill cam that would be awesome feature and maybe one button save to your computer so you can show that to future ticket handlers? 

 

Their own anti cheat sounds horrible but at least they try to do something for the game and that's what I like to hear and see UPDATES!
