Because it was an alpha test. It was nowhere near the final release and that was stated from the getgo. But hey we lie in the bed we made so now we have to figure out a way.

riot was labeled as a beta by orbit themselves, and the community is not responsible for orbit's decision to shelve riot instead of addressing any of the massive amount of constructive feedback given

  2. there's a suggestion subforum

the presentation here kind of sucks - the long image strips are resized and it makes them nearly unreadable without opening the original imgur pages one by one

It's APB's vision of zombie mode! Its innovative framework is basically APB. i'm an old player. I have failed to beat other experts and been killed many times in long tournaments. These gold medalists are the masters of the sport. I can't compete with them! So I wanted APB to go into zombie mode, where players like me could have fun shooting zombies with weapons. So I imagined this zombie mode and rendered it. This time, only the rendering of the survivor faction is shown, the rendering of the zombie faction is still being created.

as for the suggestion itself, i think some important stuff has been glossed over

my biggest issue is you want a game mode for less skilled players to have fun shooting zombies and you also want an entirely pvp game mode, but these are conflicting suggestions

    1. pure pvp can have asymmetrical gameplay but it still has to be fair and fun for both sides, otherwise you'll quickly find yourself with no one willing to play as one side and the game mode will collapse
    2. pure pvp means you're going to encounter the exact same issue you complained about in current apb - you'll be playing against other players and many of them will be better than you

what is the core draw of this game mode? what aspect is new and unique among zombie games, or what aspect does it share with other zombie games but perfects and pushes to a new level? why play this game mode over left4dead, or killing floor, or project zomboid, or r6 siege extraction? why even play this mode over current apb missions?

and once you hook players, how do you keep them playing? is there a progression system? how does it work? what are the rewards? there's 25% of a single mission here if we're being generous, what other content (locations, maps, mechanics, scenarios, items, etc) should this game mode have? how can this mode be improved or built upon in the future? what monetization options does this mode provide?

i can appreciate the desire to improve apb and whatever effort went into this post, but it seems like you had a cool idea and jumped to the presentation stage without really considering it from every angle first

the problem I see with matchmaking is that there are solo players and then grouped players. if one faction has no gold solo players and the other faction has all premade groups... it will attempt to pool together some silver and bronze players to match the premade team's threat combined threat level. if it cannot match it it will match them anyways then give them the option for backup... which doesn't help at all anyways as it can just create further imbalance.

how about you make 1 server for financial & waterfront for grouped players and another for non-grouped players? this way it will have an easier time matching since everyone will be in proper size groups (2,3,4 man) no random players with mis-matched threat vs premades.

solo player server will match players alot better also since it will be 40 solo players on each side instead of 4-5 solo players and the rest grouped that aren't using the alliance feature or never call backup anyways.

they removed segregation because of population issues, it wouldn't make sense to turn around and implement another mechanic to divide the playerbase again

and an instance that only allows two, three, and four man groups is probably going to have even worse matchmaking than the current unsegregated districts

It’s been less than a week lol, r u serious?

    why wouldn't i be?

changing the entire dev direction for apb is not a snap decision (or at least it shouldn't be), orbit shot themselves in the metaphorical pr foot with this announcement and i hoped they'd have an aggressive plan to compensate

instead it looks like business as normal, everything on hold until 2.2 1.3

Judging from the names in this thread, None of ya play the game

generally people don't play games that frustrate them to the point of making multiple forum rant posts, maybe take a hint

you're still able to log in the game solely because of LO, so stop this drama threads already. If you don't like it, just don't play it.

just about everyone is way ahead of you on that one my guy

  7. no matter how overhyped the engine upgrade may have been as a fix-all for apb that hype is what's kept a lot of people at least partially invested in apb

i worry many of those people will perceive this news as "the engine upgrade is cancelled" and give up for good on the game, stunting any potential future PR moves

on another note, now that "current apb" is the focus again will there be more frequent work done (QoL fixes, balance, new content/contacts, events, etc) or will the game stay in the same engine upgrade holding pattern until everything on the roadmap is completed?

Also, what about the port to UE4. Is it still happening? Was it ever? @MattScott

These are actual quotes from the official blog.

"...we are committed to upgrading APB Reloaded to the Unreal 4 engine."
"...our 2nd team is working on Unreal 4. This will not be a short project, but it has lots of milestones along the way."

This "2nd team" has been apparently working on UE4 for over 3 years now, anything to show?

the ue4 attempt was announced as halted indefinitely years ago

APB has always been the game where everyone thinks everyone is cheating, but the majority aren't.

Since LO first changed the anti-cheat, every single public APB hack was taken down.

No one can purchase a cheap public hack anymore, as of like 2018. This means the only cheaters left are paying absurd prices for private hacks (which will likely come with a free RAT), or they're coding their own (which requires bypassing BattlEye and some braincells). Sure, if you have a good undetectable private cheat then you're pretty much invincible, but that's the case in any game and is usually the minority. These people probably exist in APB, but I can't imagine there's many. Its not even worth the time for anyone with the development knowledge to code cheats for this game, considering how little money there is to make off of it due to the lack of players.

The APB playerbase's average skill level is a tiny fraction of what it used to be in 2014-2015. Absolute night and day difference to now.

I've seen such a tiny amount of people cheating in the past 4 years. If there's one single thing LO actually did, it was eliminating the majority of script kiddies.

    Bottom line is: get gud.
Or go play a better game instead.

imo the biggest issue with cheaters, or even suspected cheaters, in apb is how present they are

frustration from facing a suspected cheater is multiplied exponentially by the persistent instances and matchmaking mechanics - it can be impossible to escape when they keep popping up in the district or when they keep being placed in your mission, its currently too easy for a even a single cheater to potentially sour entire play sessions

as the pop gets smaller this issue gets worse, removing the option to switch districts until the only alternative is to not play at all
