The prices right before LO?
-
Except old prices on sale were cheaper still. 0.80 * 0.80 = 0.64, which is greater than 0.50. In order for current prices to be cheaper than old sale prices there would need to be at least a 37.5% discount, (including premium,) but that's still more expensive than old 50% off sales that coincided with any form of rebate. (It's slightly more complicated than that with the arbitrary, poorly executed price rework, but that's the basic version of it.) Few people bought things without at least a 50% off sale, so I'd say it's hard to say whether ARMAS items are cheaper or not under LO until we see how they handle sales in the future. That said, their black friday sale was far worse than any other black friday sale APB has ever had. Not including bonuses or anything LO sells 500 G1C for 5 USD, I'm not sure where you got your numbers.
-
I wouldn't blame that on the community. Those are things G1 should fix, not things players should be penalized for doing. Lol.
-
I would have probably included a little section about burst and tap firing in the part about getting out-gunned, since that's one of the number one mistakes I see from new players, but good post overall. I do have to say though that you're wrong Mitne, not pledging is a perfectly legitimate strategy, and will always pledge you to someone you can advance unless there's nobody to advance in the district. I pledge to contacts most of the time, but I've never had an issue when I didn't (except leveling holiday contacts I don't care about.)

If I'm to be perfectly honest. . . APB would not be as fun without APB's culture. I'll agree that there are things that need to be addressed, such as griefing, cheating, ghosting, etc., like you mentioned, but I don't think the culture as a whole should change, and I don't think it's really possible to "change" the culture without simply removing half of the playerbase. Half the reason I stick around APB is because I like its playerbase, which, I'll be honest, I actually think is pretty damned helpful to new players. Sure, people are assholes to anyone who's bad at the game, but that happens in nearly every PVP game, and I see plenty of people willing to give new players information and help them out whenever they ask. As for glitch abusing, that's kinda' a fine line. For example, everybody jump-kicks doors, and quite honestly APB would be a far worse game (I.E. defense would be even more overpowered) without jump-kicking. Granted, I can't think of more glitches that really add to the game being abused, but I also can't think of all that many that get abused often negatively. I'd say as far as new player retention goes, I'd attribute far more new player loss to APB being an extremely bizarre, complex game that has an extremely high skill-floor.

Yeah, but they already said that the purpose of them is to re-add existing content. I'm not saying what you're saying couldn't happen, but it's entirely speculation. Wait, are you fucking serious? And to think I almost fell for it. How could it go from looking like one of the most badass titles to actually being one of the worst, lol. *EDIT* Okay, you were trolling.
-
So. . . what was contrary to what I said? Also, the stuff you linked to from Innova clearly has nothing to do with what G1 intended, note how many of the things are already given by other contacts (and that nothing on Innova had anything to do with G1 APB.) Agreed on all points.

ARMAS Store refresh and pricing changes
Kewlin replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
I'm just curious. . . how exactly do you suggest appeasing the people who have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on this game while changing it to a pay to play game? *EDIT* Ignoring the obvious fact that nobody would play a game most people see as a dumpster fire if they were expected to pay for it. -
Not necessarily as huge as you might think. LO had said in a previous blog post that the player progression is different between console and PC, and they were planning on adding two new contacts as part of their plan to fix that. I can only assume that these two new contacts are those, and probably won't add much if any new content to the game (beside missions, which is certainly big, I will admit.)
-
These are the contacts you were talking about before that sound like they're basically just going to contain content that's currently already in the game, correct? Are you planning on using Lucas Van Rooyen and Lynette Casey for the new contacts? While I understand that they both were intended to be post-boss contacts instead of filling in earlier progression, they never really felt like they fit into that role. Devil Dog is an elite sniper who decided the Tigers needed his help and started an elite team. Templeton is a veteran spec ops badass who's been in tons of conflicts and integrated himself into the Praetorian elite alongside the rest of Shadowstrike. Aletta is a psycho hardass who wants to turn San Paro into a full-on warzone in order to end the conflict as soon as possible. Tiptoe is the illegitimate daughter of a high-ranking Rose turned psycho kill-squad badass. Birth is a huge celebrity that was turned into a major backer for the Gs, as well as their branding and mouthpiece, basically the anti-Justin Teng if you will. Gumball is. . . well maybe Gumball doesn't fit in super well, but he's good comic relief, and at least he's Zombie's bro. Lucas is. . . a bodyguard? He has no investment in the conflict at all, he's literally just in it for drugs and hookers. Lynette on the other hand has an extremely boring story that's barely far off from every other Tiger, with the exception that she's lamer than the rest of them because she doesn't have any combat experience (and isn't even a PR genius like Mirri or something,) she's literally just a boring as fuck character that isn't good at anything, who perhaps has the most boring outfit of any Tiger. So yeah, TL;DR: if you haven't worked something else out already, I highly suggest you use Lucas Van Rooyen and Lynette Casey to fill in the gaps in unlocks, 'cause while they have decent enough backstories they really don't match up with the other post-195 contacts. Just change the line that implies Lynette has the best gear available. As for the missions, are you planning on trying to integrate any new machanics into them at all, or are they going to just be a mix of the same old? I personally would love to see at least some returning last stages like the dropoff deathmatch mix that My Gramma, How Young You Look used to have. I totally understand though if you don't want to try anything new (I'm sure you'll get a shit-ton of flak.) P.S. It doesn't appear there's a native search function to your blog anymore, is it possible you could add one?

Actual picture of APB with 100v100 districts:

Decals and preset symbols are not the same thing. These are not and should not be presets.

Yeah, at the start of the event I kinda' resigned myself to only getting my dailies from Beacon. . . let's see if even that works, lol.
-
Only one of those places states anything implying the fact that you need to play 5-10 days. I get that you're coming from the perspective of someone who cares about APB a lot, plays APB a lot, reads and writes on the forums a lot, and is in the SPCT, but you and I aren't the average player. This isn't about whether or not it's possible to have known the way the event works, clearly it was possible, but obviously Raichu did not catch on to how the event works, and he seems to have stated that he would have been happy to put in the effort had he known. I would have figured this would be something you'd agree with since you were the one trying to pull in the average player who doesn't participate in or read the forums the other day.
-
No, if you actually read what he said you'd understand he wasn't saying he didn't have time, he was saying he didn't realize in time that he needed to play over several days to get the rewards. (Fact aside that he did realize in time, though I'm not sure he realizes even now that he can do two dailies a day.) I'm not pointing fingers, I'm just saying that having an event create more player activity by requiring daily participation doesn't realize when someone doesn't realize they need to participate daily. Note that the email doesn't say anything about the reward system, nor does the in-game role description explain it; to understand how the event role works you specifically need to go to the forums. So I repeat, at no point did Raichu complain that he didn't have enough time during the event period, he simply said he didn't realize how the event worked in time.
-
I didn't get an email though? Plus, we're not talking about the event existing, he was talking specifically about the way the rewards work such that you need to play a certain number of days.
-
If he were actually incapable of completing the event, and he had failed to do so because he didn't realize, (as he stated,) then that's just as much LO's fault marketting their event as it is his TBH. Doesn't help to design events to maximize playtime if a player doesn't realize how the event works, lol.
-
If you do the dailies for both event district types you can still do it, 'cause Slay Bells and 12 Deaths both have dailies and both apply to the role. It'll take more time per day, but it's totally possible.
-
We're talking high silvers here, gold isn't really "way above" that, plus there are actually silvers in silver district usually.
-
Once a week isn't that bad, plus matchmaking doesn't treat high silver and low gold that differently TBH, except not allowing golds into bronze but. . . high silvers really shouldn't be in bronze TBH.
-
I'm against hard threat locking districts, but your first suggestion would be worth trying.
-
So the chaos of the event somehow makes you better at aiming vertically? I'm pretty sure knowing your arc still helps, especially at longer ranges. Also, the event isn't chaos 24/7 TBH. BXNNXD, grab the defibrillators, it's time to try turning him off and then on again.
-
You're implying it wouldn't help someone to have a visualizer for the arc of a snowball? Lol?
-
Grenade arc visualizers have existed in the past, so I don't see why there couldn't be such a thing. That being said, I do highly doubt they're used.
-
You specifically said that the new tech of cross-instance matchmaking wouldn't solve the current issues with matchmaking, and then went on to describe the current issues, so unless you misspoke I understood perfectly: The new system pretty much inherently solves the problem of people being in the wrong district.
