.. Interesting, iv heard people speak about this with other games and around work but know one has actually given hard evidence this is a real thing? Not to challenge your knowledge, help me understand the logic to this.. I can understand that a "bottleneck" of information or "hardware / software stutter" situation can happen if it drops too low. but we would be talking below 10% of which windows alone is the 10% .. but then we are in the realms of system stability of your hardware and os thinks the gpu is faulty/unstable this can cause the system to "temporally stop the card" or worse case the computer. I Ran some random test and screen grabbed my character idle and then moving with explosion to simulate a "load" obviously in an ideal test there would also be a mission and other players, its late I'm not going to do that test right now. Only big difference is my game is running window and stable - ref the other topic about rtx and how . but i was curious if i can make it unstable below the "1500mhz" . This is Idle standing around. for a few minutes people joined the server and left. This was the "load test" again few minutes of jumping around firing grenades off and shooting civies.

So further playing tests this NvC tweak was (for me, this is very important to keep in mind,) But because I want this game to keep being populated and for people to enjoy it I have taken the time to screen grab and make this mini guide if you choose to try.. BUT => This is at your own risk/doing, take your time to follow onscreen instructions, and keep in mind that if it does not work you can simply reverse the steps and remove the profile. Also this is running the game at the mentioned settings Basic > Quality custom (defined by Advanced options) - Game in Window mode only - Vsync off - smooth frame on - Multi gpu off - AAdanced > everything on Except = Low Quality Hud off - render Eye Lashes off - Max Anisotropy 2x - AA Beta Off. If you do not know how to load Nvidia Control Panel then you shouldn't be following this. DO NOT have the game running, it must be completely closed. PhysX default processor : 1. go to Config Surround, PhysX - 2. processor select your primary GPU. (unless you run a specific gpu this should always be your primary especially if you are running a 3kseries.) [running secondary gpus for physX is redundant these days ] Very important step before you modify m3d Profiles 1. go to Adjust Image Settings - 2. set to "use the advanced 3d image settings THEN YOU MUST CLICK APPLY Bottom Right. , Do NOT select any other option including slider, profiles will only work if this setting is enabled. 1. go to Manage 3d settings - 2 select tab " program settings" 3. If you can not locate your APB.exe in the drop list click on ADD 3.1 ADD window scroll through the list, 98% of the time the game will be listed as show, a very rare and odd occasion you may have to click "Browse" and manually find your .exe - This will be in your Binaries folder as "APB.exe" do not confuse it with the launcher or any other exe. Once you have selected the exe then click "add selected program" 1. your APB.exe should now be shown in the droplist box . you can now use the mini drop boxes next to each option *** were it states "use Global settings" this is only referring to your current global defaults , my "global defaults may differ to yours. focus on the actual options in the Brackets ( ) ** Additional Warning, - NVC can be slow at times, especially when selecting in the mini lists so click once and wait , try not to use the mouse wheel as this can also change options. go slow keep track of what you are selecting. Blue Boxes highlighted are set by default and should not need changing. (providing you have not modified your global settings) Red Boxes Highlighted are options I have changed. Again click "APPLY" in the bottom right of the window once you have made your changes. your control panel may flicker once or twice. its normal . Once you have clicked apply you can close NVC and then load the APB Launcher and run game. I hope this helps as many of you as possible, even if it just provides you that extra bit of game time. Remember if you have issues or dislike the options, simply select the profile you have created and click "remove" or you can "Restore" the profile to default, you can also reverse your PhysX options too as well as the Image settings option if you wish to have 1 setting for all games.

Yeah , so I previously said in one of my other thread posts, (cant find it now) but when joining A) server B) missions your system has to receive and process data. Something like this (not perfect dont quote me) APBR client (you) Request to server > All client character profiles for joining server (ip) Eu1 (example) > [ character customisations - body styles - hair - make up - tattoos - clothing outfits - clothing modifications + colours + decals + player stats] > [ Character Vehicles ALL. - customisations + paint + decals ] > [character music profiles - custom music + for kill sound track etc] > [extra profile contents - Graffiti art work ] > All client locations in/on map by co-ordinates + mission/activity_status_ > Server Requests packets from each client to confirm > Server recieves packets and then has to redistribute packets to clients (this is done at server for security instead of p2p) > Client (you) recieves packets and unpacks info, but also has to send new updated packet. > Process restarts - this how ever has its issues, someone with a bad connection or connecting to eu from west coast california can slow this process and causes delays/packetloss etc, people attempting to use laggers also effects this, were the server is having to request multiple times until arguement is made to drop packet request or disconnect client. This data is stored in "assetcache" and should be automatically cleared on close of your game. always worth checking your assetcache folder is empty. to my knowledge the game 5 years (ish) back used to try and pre render all characters before you see/interact with them. these days there is a delay, believe this is "if" you are passing them you dont need to load them, unless argument states they are within a set zone for set time around your character view = show client profiles. problem with this is its a lot of information for an old game to process regardless of how good your machine is, I think it still only uses max quad with 8 threads.. ? (id have to double check this when i next load it as i run 8core 16 thread),, unfortunately code = game engines, do not get quicker/better as hardware does. unless they are re -written to do so or to fit the new hardware. more noticeable when you receive oppo as "i believe" the game prioritises and pre loads/renders all characters in your current/active mission". so bigger issue here is the game then says to your system, i need to load all these assists NOW.. load X amount of files from cache or install = send to graphics and sound right as you get the sound and mission activation. where this really goes wrong is when 3 things make this worse, someone joins the server and within the first few seconds are put in a mission, bad connection causes packet loss / delay or they are trying to run the game on a machine that cant run the game, the last 2 together is the most common. But your original post and thread topic was about Low FPS in game, not 1 second lag spikes,.. Another thing to keep in mind is your installation location, sounds silly, il briefly explain, windows 10 defender, Antimalware and uac plus all the other bits that work hard to keep your C drive safe dont really care about games. they say they do. always worth checking your game is not being limited by 3rd party apps. so thats why installing your games to a secondary location (hdd or ssd) is better providing its set as a secondary additional storage, the drive will still be checked by all the above but will not be treated with the same high level access requirements, This should/could stop any issues were msw10 is for some reason flagging or stopping your game from running smooth. I personally run APB R Laucher and APB R Game with UAC requirements, you can check yours search under "user account control settings" Also worth checking the "RTX sereies" thread i mention setting up a m3d profiles , aprofile for apb, setting the card and game to performance in options helps and some other bits. 3k cards are beasts for this game, you can easily run the game in high and set card to run the game in performance mode with out it breaking a swet. my EVGA XC3 Ultra sits around 40% load and doesnt get close to 50c without turning on the fans ..

"My question is who's lying?" This has always been a tricky one. so here are a few points to keep in mind, FYI I am not a pro, so dont quote me on this info, general info from net etc. Speed * ( Up Down bandwidth + Ping) - Use Global Speed test (isp speed test) to test your connection, do it at hourly points and make a spread sheet , this will show you any issues with your service, ie drops or irregularities. * depending on your connection contract, some ISP state "we provide UP TO 50mbps " the upto in legal speak means they DO NOT have to provide you with 50, they could if they wish only provide 10mbps down. Up is just as important, anything above 10mpbs UP you should be good. Also throttling - this is wear your ISP automated systems may think your over using your service and its unfair to your street, so they throttle your connection by X. Normally about 20% for every 3gb of data (up or Down) consumed. again depending on your contract. connection type - . Here in the UK , there are 4. Telephone, satellite, cable >coax and Cable >Fibre. Telephone being the worse when everyone gets home at 6pm say, fires up netflix or streams anything the entire street will fluctuate and slow due to the way the streets are wired to "hubs" . this is similar to Cable, but not as noticeable, and like Virgin Media has been servicing all "street Hubs/Distributions" with fibre. Fibre Connects are great all round but they are still not perfect with connection drop outs. satellite is meant to be one of the best for consistent connections but "speed" is still limited (apparently) FYI if your ISP says your on Fibre.. Double check = another lie. they have been saying "fibre" but its only to your local distribution hub, then copper coax to the house, you can challenge them if they state on paper or original sign up advertising "Fibre to your house/door" your home setup and users - the most common issue people argue is not there issue. your router can be the biggest issue, if not setup correctly for gaming, they are not shipped for gaming, so if you have access and know what your doing. then start here. But do it wrong. you're basically leavening the door open. also your setup, if wireless to your computer/laptop then you will always be playing catch up, if wired then great but check your cable, run some router / cable tests, also check your computer connection, ie drivers, apps etc. - USERS = if you have brothers sisters + techie parents who are all streaming music, youtube netflix or anime cat girls then youre slice of the bandwidth pie is a lot smaller. Background programs apps etc - most common issue I see all the time is the amount of crap people have in the background.. chrome is one of them. I use chrome, but I close it right down if im gona game hardcore. this will not only eat your memory but also be continuously using the network, + all the toolbars and plugins people think are great but really just track your data. Other background apps. Like MS oneDrive, Skype, Game clients other then steam = Origin, epic, uplay. they all continously update them selves , if your not using it close it, and close if off toolbar. also check what your antivirus/firewall/security apps are doing, dont close them, but check when they are scheduled to do updates/scans , also make sure they are not blocking or restricting the game under a "false negative" [APBReloaded always throughs a false negative for me after updates, but due to the security apps i use] game - if you are running the game at high graphics + resolution but your system cant mange it, then all the data coming into your system has to be processed, this will at first seem ok, but with in a short amount of time slow your system and game down. so reduce the games resolution and/or graphics down to free up hardware resources . Packet loss can be caused by many many things. from ISP firewalls - Router - all the way down to the extreme "cable interference" . those errors dont mean much other then just logging it., it has been stated that NA <= North American ? servers are not the best or the most populated. i dont know why. this could simply be a cost provider thing. the number of possible reasons for issues is endless, server hardware, server age, server connections, server locations to you, if your in miami trying to connect to a server in cali etc. Silver lining whilst COD Warzone has been so popular APBR has become a lot more enjoyable Anyway hope all typing / reading helps you understand some of the reasons why and it wasnt my time wasted

interesting catch up read. Regarding Files. Config files etc. a few things to be aware of, 1) downloading text files of code/ "game config" can be risky, especially if your not sure about reading/understanding the code. some may contain stuff that will purposely get you banned. or worse have nothing to do with the game [yes there are **** out there that will do that] 2) some config files for one person may/will be tailored for their systems. this can cause more problems for you instead of solving. 3) Be very very carefully what you change/tweak, id advise against it unless you know what your doing. Standalone APB client/anticheat does monitor your game installation + other game related files, mainly replaces files it considers "modified" on launcher load up as well as "during your gaming session" [I have mentioned somewhere else about this as "Dxhooking" used for external 3rd party game capture is not a good idea with APB as the anticheat can read it as a false negative and will force close the game] Steam Client versions "could" but rarely report/ban you, as a false negative . There is a way to further optimise or increase your game/graphics through "files" that is not considered ban-able. BUT... for the same reason they are not spoken of is because you shouldn't. and I wont share because : 1) it can make the game unstable 2) I wont take the blame for your ban 3) Im under loyal oath - so I can not publish how . 3k-series graphics cards issue. Further testing the game is running stable, for me. that does not say what I have done in my last post will work for everyone and given that it is not regarded as "simple process" I can not advise doing a clean install of your system. seek help or family guidance if you wish to do this, but know that it may not be the fix you hoped for. for those interested - an Update to my testing forcing the game to crash under "vertex" & "out of memory" error are only on financial (for me), (the generic out of memory error = system ram usage above 3gb will happen on any district regardless) which although narrows the issue makes it that bit more strange, *edit- When running the game in a Crash-able environment" -I have found that with the NVidia control panel setting up a custom m3ds-profile = program settings profile for the apb.exe (not launcher), and pretty much stripping back all the settings, card to power mode normal and texture filtering to "performance" does help the game last longer whilst having the crash issues. . but not the perfect fix. I would say those that wish to try this its an easy process, take your time follow the onscreen instructions, once all set to min begin reloading the game and upping the m3ds-profile to the happy medium of a good gaming session and crash. I read someone said they had a hard crash = full system lock up, were even ctrl+alt+del would not recover them. this is unfortunately more then just the game, that's a whole different issue, Id definitely question drivers/system setup/ even AV.. Apb over the years has become good at crashing out to desktop with its error reporter. Stick with -> "Ketog", that the best solution fix is coming in the form of engine upgrade. we can only hope this is sooner then later.. Additionally having a "alpha" version of the engine/game for those with RTX 3k series cards to play/test would make sense (yes im just impatient after 5+ years) even if only on a tdm map would allow us to be the test subjects. but ay who am I . dev's ... oh and reviews are just a way for people to vent there dislike or bans, much like the news your more likely to hear or read about the bad, and not the good.

hmm.. ? do me a favour , before you do anything, if as you say its new, new os installed with rtx. so this should be a good clean setup, Q1 was your apb a clean install onto this OS ? or was it a previous install on a second drive? if A is = Previous, try a new apb install, (note that APB unlike other games when loading from previous states on a secondary will revert to old shader/config files. < possible corruption) if A is = clean on OS then try the NV control tweak for me go into NVcontrol panel > manage 3d settings > global settings ¬ 1) power management mode [set to]- "Normal" 2) Texture filtering Quality [set to] "Performance" Give this a try, just a theory i want to rule out. as this is in global setting you will have to change it back for anything else, but if it makes apb playable we can create a separate template just for apb. haha.. .. if only i had all the time in the world and would be paid to play/test apb. i get what you mean though.. My knowledge tells me that if you begin questioning "times of day during server" then this isnt your system as such, "time of day during server" ie performance will only come down to a bunch of things, 1) server performance will always drop when you have more players joining, packet loss is a big thing, and this effects your client as it waits for info, can this cause Dx issues?, No, can it cause client crash? yes. 2) if you are getting frame freeze, or "lag" ingame when servers get busy this can be down to either Medium/low net not enough bandwidth, throttleing or even simply your system is unable to juggle old packets with new packets whist distributing information to graphics, sound, etc. again wouldnt really effect anything Dx related. 3) somthing iv mentioned many of times even waaaaaayyy back when customisation was just beginning to advance , the more you customise a characters cloths, body, tattos, then car body, sound, visusals, then graffiti and custom music.. you now a packet file thats pritty big and complex, and thats just 1 person, you then multiply it by 30players either side. if you get a crowded area say central park of 15 people your system has to wait for all that info and to then distribute to hardware for you to see and hear, if a packet gets delayed then it can cause problems, in theory the servers "pre load"(cache) all information as you join a district, or as new players join, which is why you get slow downs, this is more noticeable when you go into a live mission or get backup, as your system prioritises those players and custom info. again could this effect "out of memory" errors yes.. but in relation to dx (what most people seem to be having) no. I would still like apb to give the option "do not load other players custom content" & "disable music broadcast from other players" (although this is only played from your own system its F* anoying.. I will do more testing/tweeking as i play in general, a 5 hour straight session the other day was pritty tough for any system, showed that cache was being cleared, memory never went over 2.6gb which is perfect, every time i got a map splash i was clicking draging hitting keys and never got a flicker or crash,.
-
on that spec of a system this shouldnt be happening. i would put it to conflict, did you use DDU to do a clean driver install? also unistall/install the game for your new card? I would also be cautious if you have installed your card into a system with an old os install from prior lower gen cards like the 970, see the forum thread here about RTX Cyberpunk etc newer games will use the latest dx12 to run, APB is still using older dx9+ to run, read the thread.

Hello, So iv spent the best part of 2+ days testing.. first day I put the game to vanilla,, tweaked a shader file and environment to get the game crashing this then put out the same errors, fail to APBR Report, And or Low memory etc. (pure luck) "m_VertexBuffer->Lock(m_nNextVertexData, Size, &pData, VertexLockFlags) failed at Src\D3D9DrawPrimitiveUPWrapper.cpp:293 with error D3DERR_DEVICELOST" This does not actually appear to be game issue.. - But... i have not finished testing yet. read on. so, First thing I found, in OS/EV ( Operating system event viewer) and cross referenced the time shown in the APBR Crash log. at the same time stamp I was getting : "Display error "Nlvddmkm" "error/failure" stopped working Etc." Event viewer monitor and the administrative tools are not to be played with if you are new to it. but worth a look if you feel confident. This is normally down to multiple of things. Corrupt driver /"Files.." integration of OS/Driver files. even GPU Device its self or even down to psu supplying gpu(stability). and many many more. but i knew we are looking at Dx related. I have seen this nlvddmkm issue many of times back with ea. bottom line the error was serious enough to kick the whole gpu state were the driver file would have to be reloaded. not good. To keep this simple.. I dug into the DirectX archives about this error and found there is a deeper issue with DX12Ultimate (d3d12U) and older versions of DX below 10.1 , this could simply be down to Dx12Ultra being completely new from ground up. Now i need to confess I was lazy my self and got my RTX3070 and just through it in my rig with doing a "clean" install of the drivers for me this was working and i was lucky, but i do alot of things when installing drivers its habit, But this is were i believe the errors are happening. even if you "clean" unistall your gpu drivers you will always have old temp files or combined files like OpenGl DX OS etc files that are co-writen at some point in time. to simplify this, when i had my gtx980 installed, the Dx Opengl Os etc was installed to suit that card, this is why when you get a new generation of hardware (upgrade) just do a clean install of your whole system, os the lot. . so that's what i have done on day two of my testing. as its overdue and i should of done it when i got my card, Iv done a complete install of my os w10 64 bit very latest build iso. additionally i have only installed the latest drivers for my hardware, and latest DX12Ultimate package. Plus a completely fresh download of APBR to the same storage drive as previous. same hardware environment and install paths. the game will check dx requirements and install modified version files/support files. so Event APBR is installed to recognise the hardware and software available. straight away the game appears smoother. even more then i had it before. running the same vanilla settings at max at 2560x1440 - (eye lashes disabled) i have not put my shader tweaks in (which is why i call it vanilla) its literally bone stock APBR as "cough" it should be . I have run the game for the best part of 5 hours, purposely dyeing (not dethreat) via bullets, explosions, and stupidity to get the map splash up. even changing districts in the same game instance. and it has not crashed once.. (touch wood for when i next load the game) now you may ask why have you not tweaked the file / environment like you did to get it to crash. well that's because it worked and i needed it not too. Now its working and il be thrashing it to make it crash, and if i cant then i might look at forcing it to crash. ( i cant say how i do it sorry) Conclusion and im happy to put it down too.. : it is rare but can happen, installing a new hardware + drivers an cause file corruption. its not just the GPU Driver being installed/modified. and although at first mine was working, once i modified the file and environment to cause crashes it became very clear the issues. RTX and the latest (past 12 months) of NVidia drivers are build around Dx12&Ultimate. its very very clear you should not mix these. ie not upgrade your hardware and require installing dx12 over previous version states. Might also be worth noting that i have monitored gpu temps, voltages including pci and rails, mem frequencies and core clocks. the game really doesn't use much when at max and going all out. (on an RTX3070) i would say frequency fluctuation can be ruled out, as for a while i had my GPU on power management sate "normal" for awhile, were the card can run min and ramp up to max and boost at any point, most of the time the game ran 35% of cards ability. if you run your cards pms at max, worth a try putting it to normal. i will continue tweaking and testing. but like my first suspicion, Dx & Driver issue. the RTX3k cards are monsters and do require their own special sauce. For the Record, I am not an expert, just an avid gamer, tester, techie, putting knowledge to the test, . oh and i try to do a clean install at least once a year so it was well over due. when i can il keep you posted on further testing. il also try and check in and read any bits were i can.

hey I get that dude, not saying it is you directly, but something is either stopping a file from being accessed / used, or a file is corrupt,. im trying to narrow down which, reason is if he find that it is say a "financial district asset file" (example) that has either become corrupt or being restricted by AV then I can send you a "good" copy of the file to test. As being an issue with the GPU, you would likely find the issue appearing in other titles that use either Unreal engine, that specific string of Dx9 , or even your os flagging errors. so.. thats why iv narrowed it down to a file in the game, the easy "get out" excuse is yes 64bit architecture yada yada, like saying you cant go for a run because you cant find 1 shoe, reading your log , - " 23:42:18 - Mem: Memory Event: Day 0.987708 VB 3143196672 Prev 3084148736 LgDev 1 Thresh 3061446400 Dev 0081750272 LgDelta 1 Lim 0010000000 Delta 0059047936 23:42:18 - Mem: Setting new raised memory threshold of 3111446400 23:42:18 - APB_Audio: Damage State 6 (4) 23:42:19 - Critical: appError called: m_VertexBuffer->Lock(m_nNextVertexData, Size, &pData, VertexLockFlags) failed at Src\D3D9DrawPrimitiveUPWrapper.cpp:293" Memory event = Smashed 3 GB memory. then Audio has been triggered , this could be a mix of issues, but id full circle back to reducing the games memory usage, 1) Copy paste this into a note pad , save it as "APBMachineOptions.ini" make sure you rename your original to "APBMachineOptionsBK.ini" or something, Directory > Steam\Steamapps\common\APB Reloaded\APBGame\Config all it is is a default load options for apb. 2) > G:\Steam\Steamapps\common\APB Reloaded\Binaries \ APB.exe ?> Right click\properties \ compatibility \ Compatibility mode > "run this program in compatibility mode for "Windows 7" Click "APPLY" then "ok"., 3) double click on "APB.exe" and load directly into the game, not via launcher, make sure nothing else is open behind, no chrome, music or capture software etc. This might not help you. but its were I start all problem solving, including if content like ingame vehicles have glitches or clothing etc . See how this works for you, you can even alt tab out to desktop and load taskmgr see if the game goes over memory allocation. it shouldnt as in both of my testing the 720 hit 2.4Gb, and 1080 hit 2,6Gb, But this will go up the more players and vehicles you have around you.. this is due to the game downloading all the code for their skins, tattoos, clothing, Plus cars and mods, it then dumps it all in Memory (cache). of which the game engine is rubbish at clearing "old" memory, so if 10 people leave the server and another 10 come in, you then drive past them, the process happens again. I think the game has been tweaked to clear memory more so, but its still slow, but i have seen it dropping the "usage" whilst testing. Iv also noticed a delay in loading oppo custom characters recently.. which is good. this was were a lot of the lag occurred, you could see this by loading into an empty server, and if someone joined the server would lag a tiny amount, .. another reason why going into big oppo missions you would get a lag spike at the start or every time back up was called in, View screens here of the game running in testing with my test ini file. task manger open next to it. yeh see ... now it would be affecting everyone if it was just the "spawning system" everyone has to update the game to the same version to log in and play. so everyone gets the same files, so for it to affect people differently or be it a particular group... this is the big problem with pc gaming.. there is millions and millions of variations of systems, software, gpus soundcards etc etc.. then take into account people who dont update their os, which has all your support tools. it gets really messy. Consoles, until now, it was xbox 1 or ps4, now there is xbox 1, xbox "S" ps5 & "pro" and so on. they all need different code to run different hardware, even if its just an added chip controller or sound output device. curious .. Did your computer seize up in financial district as well? or other districts.

Great. iv had a look through. still checking some bits. concerning part is the very first, "General Protection Fault". so for some reason a file has been compromised or restricted, this can cause either a simple error all the way to game files being corrupted, normal cause of this GPF, Antivirus / firewalls / anti malware and even windows defender app guard its self. additionally if you use advanced launcher or a non-secure version these can be picked up too. there is other known faults which point to GPU drivers again. checking your security apps again, go into the logs and check if or what files have been flagged. most of them you can check list by file directory makes it a lot easier Not to say that any 3rd party apps have been used, because if APBR detects any cheat or un-signed / support applications it normally throughs out "illegal activity" error. (somthing like that) which even using capture applications like nvidia screen cap/highlights, fraps, bandicam, EVGA OSD and more if they "hook" in via DX they flag as "possible cheat software" which by default will close the game . Example of this Forza horizon wont even run for me full screen with capture software or EVGA OSD "hooking" . go figure.. So, 1st you had a GPF, 2nd a Failure - that is non-defined, application doesn't look like it knew its self. 3rd 4th 5th vertex failures In that log it shows error log for the GPF as - 2021.01.16-00.06.41-20724.dmp & 2021.01.16-00.06.41-20724.log [install directory] \Steam\Steamapps\common\APB Reloaded\APBGame\Logs - Could you also load these for me to view? these will give a clearer event log of this fault. if you could also provide that "current.log" as well also in the log folder . this will show last attempted state.

Now that is interesting.. well if you are playing relatively new titles, or be it newer then apb you might not experience the crashes, as apb could be using or trying to action a very specific thing that over games or titles just don't. and the fact that you were able to prolong the crash says a lot. I cant see frequency being the issue, easy test tho, simply load an OC tool, create a profile with reduced power usage, a small amount like 10% off. or be it to 90% pwr. it will change how the card priorities any boost. but I dont think that will be the issue. If you don't mind, totally up to you, if you could upload your log file, ? put it to google drive/ or which ever cloud storage you might have and either link it here or dm me. it has me puzzled now. Location for logs are : if steam = _ [install directory] \Steam\Steamapps\common\APB Reloaded\APBGame\Logs if stand alone [install directory] \APB Reloaded\APBGame\Logs and locate the last log should be titled "current.log" Additionally you can check Steam\Steamapps\common\APB Reloaded\Binaries "crashReport.log" if the last time you ran the game it crashed both logs will show the events. Additionally, You can always try another one, Retitle your Shader folder to "shaderbk" then load the apb launcher and repair,. this will re-download & install your shader files. this is were vertex files are stored. so many its easier to back up the folder/rename it for safe keeping. [install directory] \Steam\Steamapps\common\APB Reloaded\Engine\Shaders but if you have already reinstalled the game since doing your driver/dx/framework updates then pointless as you will have new files. I am trying to reproduce any errors my end.

Hi Professional Egghead. hope your well I get that everyone's setup (hardware build plus OS / software) are all different, some of the tips I gave have helped a few already in my community, so simply sharing it out might help more. I did forget to mention, although not as common is Resolution, If people are running res's that where not common back when the game was originally created or to last related patch, for example monitors using ultra wide 3440x1440 ,3840x1200 2560x1080 as examples.. you will notice issues with older Dx9 games, if the support for these resolutions are not included, to my understanding APBR was only launched with support of Vga Dynamic - 640x480 upto 1920x1200 2560x1600 and then later patched to support HD 720 1080. running any game above release req would add system load, and during my own testing I have found running the game fullscreen 4k or fullscreen 1440 does indeed use more system memory and present the "out of memory" error. however for my self running window 1440, the game does not go above 3gb system memory. this could also contribute to the DX error. when I have been able to run the game Fullscreen 4k, 3830x2160 the game struggles although putting the game to window mode above 7k across two screens the game does not struggle. besides all of that.. If you don't mind me asking, what issue was you having if you were? I'm looking forward to Yangeline reply if they have tried. if not meh no biggy. keep safe all.

Ok so... with out going all in geek talk "D3DERR_DEVICELOST" = "D3DERR_DEVICELOST errors are usually caused by an issue with the graphics drivers on the system. This can be a conflict with DirectX 3D drivers or display drivers for your video card (such as the NVIDIA display drivers for GT, GTX & RTX cards or Radeon drivers for the AMD Radeon RX and RX Vega cards). You can try to update the drivers or perform a clean install of the drivers for your graphics card to resolve this issue." Also failed at Src\ would say at "source" .. \D3d9..... So three things I would look into.. 1, did you do a complete clean install of the latest driver for your card? - Clean as in completely remove the old driver and reinstall. *(not install /replace original) = it is rare but well known that when gpu drivers do their smart install they can corrupt files. make sure you download the latest version, put it to desktop and then when you unistall your gpu driver you know exactly were the new one will be, you can also use DDU Here (direct link to Guru3d) BUT you need to read the instructions and understand what you need to do. 2. Worth doing a repair/install of the latest Dx pack. from Here (Direct link MS site select language and download) follow onscreen instructions , selected either repair or install depending which it offers. ( note that you should be up dating your os, Preferably its windows 10 for RTX cards) 3. Have you installed the latest Net framework. 4.5 i think we are on now.. wrong 4.8 get it here (direct link MS site click download) once you have done any 1 of the 3 options you should always do a clean restart your computer. and when you launch APB Validate files/repair. AS for Antivirus, Dx files are normally associated with MS OS, however if you have installed any "applications" of the free or not from a secure source. that might of used or configured with your Dx files then AV might restricted access. normally dodgy 3rd party games or mobile games using emulators, hope this helps. let me know how it goes.

So there is a lot of different "factors" to take into consideration, but the fundamentals are pretty simple. however there is really no Ultra setting. Low medium and kind of max for APB. The Games happy spot with hardware I have found is as follows, minimum Quad Core 2.6ghz - Absolute Minimum 4 GB DDR3 memory - Minumum GTX980 {my previous card was a 980 and played this game perfectly] (not sure for amd/ati) but this will not be high res/Q. - windows 10 is actually more stable & 32bit or 64bit doesnt matter, 64bit is better . You can also still run this game on a HDD 7200rpm. no noticeable different to my SSD version. My own setup if it is of interest , but not vital, Intel 8 core 16 thread 3.4Ghz - 32GB DDR4 2133Mhz - EVGA XC3 Ultra RTX3070 - OS on SSD - APB install on sata3 (6) HDD 7200rpm - monitor 4k 60hz , played at 2560x1440 at 60fps. One big issue with this game since wheyyyy-back-when is the system memory , it wants and will use 3GB easy. there is this unconfirmed 3GB limit which causes the game to crash. even having 32GB in my system the game will go to 3GB and crash. Fix for my self and possibly others Res above 1920x1080 in game and on monitors above this res. Screen Grabs = "Here" Basic Options > Quality = Custom - Resolution set - option fullscreen = Window mode/borderless - Vsync off - Smooth Frame Rate on - Advanced options > all on - except > Low quality heath hud = off - render eye-lashes = off - Anisotropy = x2 (no point going higher) - Anti Aliasing (beta Feature) = Off. Go to Your "Nvidia Control Panel > manage 3d settings > program settings > add = Locate APB Reloaded (you might have to located it in the installed directory) do not select launcher, you want the actual game.exe. IN "specify settings for this program > set & make sure you click "apply" before exiting. you will have to completely close apb if you had it open, and relaunch the game. graphics Notes : 1) ingame Vsync off is because when you run a game in "window mode" or "borderless" these peramiters do not support in app vsync, however if you have nvidia control panel overrule this by enableing vsync the graphics card will "try" its best to sync frames of the application, same as desktop, if you run high res desktop you should run vsync as default in "global settings". 2) in nvidia control panel go to > configure surround, physX > set PhysX settings > processor = "Graphics Card name" , this will prioritise your graphics card to handle PhysX , APBR when it originally launched was a big supporter of PhysX and Rag Doll. Additional info : 1) you can run the game in "full screen borderless" mode with these settings, but it might not be as stable. Running the game 2560x1440 "window mode" on 4k (3480x2160) monitors it will only use half the screen in the middle. for some idea of size. 2) Further ways to stop memory leakage , "alt-Tab" out of game, go to task manger and locate "vivox-speach" and end this task, if you use discord and not ingame this service is a huge resource sucker, 3) close other apps, ie chrome, firefox, even discord if your not using it as they all use huge amounts of memory , if you have 4GB you need to keep it clear. 4) There is a few Dx9 Titles being reported to not like "full screen" mode on RTX cards, especially 3ks. there will not be a patch fix, companies simply dont care about dx9 now, but window mode appears to be the generic fix. I have published videos in the past about running the game over multimonitor and recently pushed the game over dual 4k monitors, just for fun. but over the 10+ years of playing APBR, its build on Dx9 + has always had system memory issues. hopefully the new UE engine build will fix this, and allow more memory allocation . Recently posted a less detailed info about my RTX3070 on the other thread > "for all Gtx16xx and RTX series users" hope this helps you.

Huh interesting. So I am also running a RTX3070 and got the error message . figured i just needed to reinstall it since upgrade, got it again. so .. I initially got the "out of memory error" running the game 2560x1440 at max everything and full screen with vysnc on + smooth frames, Reminded me of the old errors back in the day regarding 3gb system memory limit. So the simple fix I have found, like back in the day, Run the game in window, (for me at 2560x1440, Disable Vsync in game, (window mode does not run vysnc anyway) disable "render eye-lashes" & Anti-Aliasing. also only set "anisotropy" to x2, I found over the years anything above 2 just caused issues. I have still got the game running max on everything else. Note: In Nvidia Control panel > Manage 3d settings > Vertical sync = on (this will manage your desktop sync including "window modes in game, Also worth noting that most old dx9 games dont like fullscreen on RTX cards. No more error messages game is running stable, I understand everyones systems are different, but worth a try to anyone running an RTX 3k with issues. System Specs if you need to know, Intel 8 core 16 thread 3.4ghz 32gb ddr4 2133Mhz OS ssd, Game Drive 7200rpm sataIII (6) Evga RTX3070 XC3 Ultra

Downtime Premium ? & Riot suggestion

.... this is so funny. not that i care. but lets for 2 seconds. (time related joke in there.) This is some Business management training... "Time Investment - Investors of Time - There’s a huge difference between spending time and investing it. The word “spending” means that you’re using something up or exhausting it. When you spend time, you’re not really looking to get anything back. When you invest in something you expend resources, but you do so with an expectation of getting a good return on your investment (ROI). Investing your time means that you engage in activities which are calculated to bring you meaningful rewards. “Investing” and “ROI” are terms which, up until now, you’ve probably heard only when it comes to money. However, you should start thinking of these terms when it comes to your time, as well." In short, for those that do not run a business or company, that see time as a free limitless entente in life. (probably because school or collage, dinner is made by mum or dad etc) will not fully grasp the concept of this. but stick with me here.. you invest 4 hours, what will you gain from that? what will you accomplish in life? One of the biggest factors is > time = Reward. To play a game, requires time. of which after 4 hours what did you get from it? = reward. For a successful game to work, this rule applies. for players to "invest time they must gain reward" so achievements, perks bla bla. but in real life you still haven't gained anything. other then bragging on a forum about your stats. I play APB , and after a few hours i have either, created new content / edited code to make the game look or run better/ bug find / or helped other players ingame better them selves. = reward. Main one in there is that i put money and time into the game because i choose to.. as a content creator i capture the various content. edit it and create varied forms content and post it online. on varied platforms. thus making my reward. During that time i have promoted the game over a long period time, brought new players in, supported a small minority of the community with troubles , list goes on. so those that want to play a game for hours and then complain that they havnt done anything productive with there lives ? you only need to look at what you do with your time. In the 8 minutes it required me to type this , my reward is that maybe just maybe .. i have helped educate someone.. Im sure someone will happily spend even grater amounts of time typing out a pointless hypothetical reply with no gain or reward .
