Has anyone here played the last version of Descent? I've played that game a long time ago in the DOS era, but want to know what happened afterwards. I have read the page here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Descent_(1995_video_game) but it doesn;t say how the game felt afterwards A new version is published by our mothercompany, which is the reason for the post here

Breast cancer has killed a lot of people, including a few close family members of mine. -

THat is totally *not* what I said. newbie stomper is a special kind of player who needs special timeouts (IMHO a ban after the behaviour has been proven consistent over weeks) -

that so unfair, now all people with Overpowered PC get better and better. damn LO buy me a gaming pc please. You are so funny no PC is overpowered. It has what the owner needs. I need a machine with two GPU's one beefy GPU (GPU 0) to display my OpenGL (and dx12) data, the other to drive my 2nd monitor, but more to work with nVENC so I dont get unneeded cpu loads for gfx stuff which I want offloaded from GPU-0. It results in a very smooth gfx experience. GPU-1 can be quite weak because of its assigned task as long as it has nVENC of course (a GT630 does it beautifully already, ATM is a Ti 750) Im also building a machine with 128GB of ram, because I need 2 virtualize multiple workstations for work. Most end users get by well with just 16GB. -

Im also sure that if I am at the receiving end of your skill and got pummeled good in a few rounds, asking advice how to better my gameplay would be given by you. You seem to be that kinda player -

A good fix would be resurrecting the referral system, modified so that the new player gets great stuff also. Do a massive twitter campaign. Add that campaign also to players referrering / introducing new players and getting fresh new blood in. If we get 10000 players new, we may keep 3000, which is more than the pop of any server ATM BTW The universe doesn't owe us an explanation - Humble the Poet - -

IMHO its fine the way it is. Babying new players will get us nowhere. I got in the game when you got kicked of the PUG for just being new. Im still here years later -

I did not compare them. It was just an example of getting crushed pummeled and stomped upon, yet stand up, wipe the blood off and go back in. -

It's even more fun when I encounter blatants and Im teamed with people who have 4000 to 6000hrs in their belt. I follow their instructions (Im at about 2000hrs) and we CRUSH the blatants. Someone called playing against blatants supermode. Often when they speed-cheat they slam against walls and cars. We just entrap them and give them a hail of well placed bullets including one or two sniper slugs -

In the Battlefield online version I was also pummeled by highranks. Instead of getting pissed I asked what I could do to better myself and I kept playing against the *topranks* When you were small you fell *EVERYTIME* when you learned to walk. EVERYTIME Yet you learned, think about it. Its fine that the threat system cant work due to low pop. Learn the battlefield way, that's my take on this BTW following you on twitch... -
I would call the players reaction Storm in een glas water (language NL) (loosely translated: much ado about nothing)

Perfect setup dedicated to APB (PC Building)

I love this thoroughly composed reply. Thank you for making it. You've also pointed out nicely that for intel cpu family upgrade you need a new chipset, which is IMHO a no-no when the families are close together. That's why I avoid intel builds for myself. How much difference does the memory make on the performance of a Ryzen 2700x if you would buy "normal" speed DDR4 in comparison with super fast, high performance DDR4? This list was fun to analyse. I esp love the AMD GPU that you quoted. If I had not invested in the nVidia GTX1050 already I would have planned the 2nd GPU to be a similar one as you listed. I use GPU-0 for NVENC hardware based streaming, while I use GPU-1 for the OpenGL & Direct-X output. GPU-0 is also used for monitoring chat while I stream -

You won't get proper feedback if you start bashing hardware with no obvious motivation. Your thread has a chance of derailing. No one said intel is not good. It's just significantly more expensive. With the current line AMD is up to par with the intel line that is out. You get marginal gains as a normal user with Intel on the current consumer line. Only the top level CPU's of Intel (which are not in the consumer line) give superb performance. Also remember that security wise Intel is working hard on the side channel problems the current line has (someone can break into systems much easier using those vunerebilities) In the end your pocket in combo with your preference will decide. You said economics are watched, which is why I recommended a CPU like Ryzen 7 2700X https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-Processor-Wraith-Cooler/dp/B07B428M7F/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1531301824&sr=8-4&keywords=ryzen+7+2700 This Ryzen will also work well https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B41717Z/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8 -

I use a GTX1050 here and I also have a seperate GPU to stream on with NVEnc (nVidia hardware H264/265 encoder) Over here it works fine (when I use a tweak (garbage collection) I learned from a seasone APB'er in a settings file to prevent stuttering) Config relevance to you CPU (the last AMD Ryzen 7 2700 series are good) if you want Intel CPU prepare to pay top bucks GPU GTX1050 (it would also run on the Ti750) Ram I have 16GB here SSD I have one here for tests the game is not on it PSU any 500+Watts is good, a *real* 500W (500W RMS) not a cheap one which peaks at 500W I run on Win7, if you want newer go 8.1 Avoid win10 due to privacy concerns (that's why it was free) APB needs tweaking to run on current hardware, my video had problems displaying my blue cars until I put gfx on max Note: putting together a machine only seems like lego if you dont want to know what is going on. It's complex work, made to look simple. I solder since 9 years old and have extensive hardware knowledge on regular electronics (repair and tweaks) computers (I can de/solder IC's from boards when needed) know how to handle fragile FET's and MOSFets so take it from me when I say its not lego. -
If this image is not faked, I have a feeling you just wanted to impress us with a bitcoin mining machine which has 8 gpu's on special slots It can be a real machine, the slots to attach them to a standard board are for sale at amazone, e.g

Only use the launcher for patching. Just launch the exe of APB and be done with the weird stuff that the launcher does. It messes up your config.ini's for example by replacing them with default ones. That's a big no-no for me. It's also know for installing things like direct-x IX on machines which have direct-x X on them It also installs an old version of an nVidia lib which is of course also bounced by the OS -

Not moving on, means ruining your game time. A troll should *never*, ever have that power over you. If after you have reported cheaters to the proper channel(s) you can't move on, you might as well do something else, preferably in real life. Otherwise the cheating troll, unbeknownst to him has true and actual power over you, the person who plays for fun. Never allow that to happen... -

Pls tell support about it with details. As users we will not be able to do anything. Your forum join date is 2011, which means you have many more hours than me in game (collectively over my different toons, I still have less than 3000.) A player in another MMO once told me "When you see blatant cheaters, try to play out the match, shrug then *move on* Getting mad about it, just feeds the egos of the cheating trolls...
