Westford 199 Posted October 5 I provided some additional information concerning the GFAC 1.0 release in a different thread, Some additional troubleshooting steps I took that has not been mentioned. Sorry,
Westford 199 Posted October 7 (edited) I wanted to share my latest email I submitted to LO support for my support ticket I opened on Sept 26 concerning the GFAC error's, and the inability to launch the game. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Some interesting information to share. I was discussing this GFAC issue with another APB player on Little Orbit's Discord, and they mention that I need to get a working copy of the following two files; GFAC.dll - 997.68k GFAC_Sys_x64.sys - 2.11MB I looked at the file size of those two files in my C:\Program Files\GFAC, and there are as follows; GFAC.dll - 999k GFAC_Sys_x64.sys - 2.11MB I re-downloaded the GFAC.dll from the "manifest.json" URL you sent me. https://gfac.gamersfirst.com/updates/0.5.1.28/GFAC.dll And the file size again for GFAC.dll was 999k. So the person on the Discord channel has a different version of the GFAC.dll, than I do, and his game is working. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So it appears that for that individual on Discord that is not having a problem launching the game, he has a different version of the GFAC.dll than I have. The full manifest to manually download the files that LO support provided for me is here. https://gfac.gamersfirst.com/stable/manifest.json I understand the dev team is working on this, and is having a difficult time chasing this down. I hope they have made some progress, and will be releasing a patch release for GFAC soon. Edited October 7 by Westford
Victoria97 58 Posted October 7 (edited) @MageLO I returned after few weeks of being offline and suddenly I cannot enter APB anymore. Errors that I keep getting states: Error: Failed to update file GFAC_Service.exe File integrity check failed. Error: Failed to update file GFAC.dll. File size mismatch: expected 1022648 got 1023672. After I deinstalled GFAC completely and ran the APB launcher again, it installed GFAC again. But now each time i try to start APB it actually delivers me to blue screen of death and its restarting my entire pc. With classic message of "your device ran into a problem and needs to restart. Westford 199 Posted October 8 (edited) I said in a previous post, that I had exhausted all troubleshooting methods that were available to me. But, I just had to try one more thing. As an FYI, I see a lot of people saying to turn off anti-virus , Windows Defender, yaddy yadda, which I have in previous troubleshooting sessions. No success. I also checked my anti-virus , Windows Defender in other troubleshooting sessions for any GFAC flagged exceptions. There were none. So I can confidently rule out anti-virus and Windows Defender and a contributor to this issue. Also, I have a continued back and forth with LO support, and I forwarded these findings to support earlier today. My current environment before troubleshooting steps: - GFAC is currently installed (Game does not launch after pressing start) - uninstall GFAC (run the C:\Program Files\GFAC\uninst.exe) - uninst.exe ran successfully - delete the C:\Program Files\GFAC directory - Check the Registry Entries for and GFAC references ( I never did this before ) - found the following GFAC references in the Registry - Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SOFTWARE\Little_Orbit\GFAC - Backup the Registry - Highlight "Little Orbit" , right-click / Export to file - Reboot Computer - Check Registry for GFAC entry, Entry does not exist - Run APB Launcher, Message "GFAC Installation Required (This will be the 1st install of GFAC, not an update) Then --------- - After what appears to be a successful GFAC install (no Error messages) - Check the Registry Entries for and newly added GFAC references - found the following GFAC references in the Registry - Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SOFTWARE\Little_Orbit\GFAC - Values are different than previous GFAC update attempts - Checked the C:\Program Files\GFAC\logs\updater.log And Have not Pressed Start - Review the updater log file updater.log ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [2025-10-08 15:38:08] [INFO] [] GFAC Update Client starting... Anyways, I look forward to tomorrows maintenance, and the possibility after almost 3 weeks of no San Paro, to finally enter District, and prevent the Unauthorized use of Municipal Vehicles. Westford 199 Posted October 8 @MageLO, if you could ask the Dev Team what process should those players use that are having issues launching the game because of the GFAC issues. a) Normal Operation - Start the APB Launcher, allow the GFAC update to complete - Press Start to enter the game b) Completely uninstall and remove ALL GFAC before starting the APB Launcher - run the C:\Program Files\GFAC\uninst.exe - delete the C:\Program Files\GFAC directory - Check the Registry Entries for any GFAC references and delete Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SOFTWARE\Little_Orbit - Reboot the computer - Start the APB Launcher, allow the GFAC initial Install, then update to complete If the Dev Team believes that option "b" is unnecessary, then please let us know sometime tomorrow. Much appreciated

Much appreciated Honestly if its fixed tomorrow (lets hope), the fix should be a) like last time and update itself should resolve everything. I will try option a) but if it wont work I plan to deinstall APB entirely again, install it from scratch along with GFAC. I passed through reg edits, through powershell removing the conflict I had with Windows’ security subsystem (LSA — Local Security Authority) and VBS (Virtualization-Based Security) and EAC since my event logger reported that actually EAC which suppose to be offline(not used anymore) is indeed one of the error causes along with GFAC. I went even with creating entire new virtual machine with Windows 11 and APB installed there to behave as entirely new PC. I had identical issue there which brings me to logical conclusion that whoever at this moment downloads APB and installs it from scratch will face the BSOD situation. I gave up only when I got confirmed by MageLO that they are aware of the situation. Which comforts me a lot. I have to add as well that I installed in sunday APB at my remote laptop and I had no issues whatsoever. The tragedy begins when I attempted to simply enter APB on my PC which was always the main for APB. After it installed last 34MB patch all hell broke loose and situation deteriorated the deeper I went with troubleshooting. At the beginning of issue in monday I normally opened APB and after entering password and choosing my character I kept getting kicked out as my first screenie above saying it simply needs restart of the game. Only after going through troubleshot the hell out of it I started to get BSOD by simply starting the game. 2 hours ago, Westford said: As an FYI, I see a lot of people saying to turn off anti-virus , Windows Defender, yaddy yadda, which I have in previous troubleshooting sessions. No success. I can with outmost certainty confirm that it is not an anti-virus and firewall issue because I made sure not only to white list literally entire GFAC folder every single .dll and file which exists inside that folder, along with APB, along with EAC explicite. I even went with risky situation of disabling my firewall and anti virus completely for 10 minutes and tried to start in that session. So people who keep yapping its anti virus clearly didn't do more than 2 steps of troubleshooting the situation like you and me did. Lets hope you and me and rest of people having this issue, tomorrow can raise glasses and celebrate the solution of this problem. Westford 199 Posted October 9 (edited) Wasn't sure if there was a maintenance period earlier today, but I wanted to post my results from running the APB Launcher today (13:33 EST) I am including the discrepancies between the GFAC Manifest file size, and the C:\Program Files\GFAC file size. I also include the updater log for 10/09. updater.log (10/09) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [2025-10-09 13:53:16] [INFO] [] GFAC Update Client starting... BlatMan 734 Posted October 12 I'd wipe my Windows installation. I wouldn't risk having LO's garbage lingering around.
Edyo 0 Posted Monday at 11:59 AM After some personal Search on My End, ive had the same problem whit GFAC and found a fix and maybe why it would crash and not boot the game no matter what i attemped. This discovery was made because of the New Battlefield 6 game, it had this odd requirement, the game required that you had SecureBoot and TMP2.0 enabeled for their anti-cheat in order to work.So what i did: In Windows, I Changed my SDD Boot Partition from MBR to GTP, and in Bios Enabled SecureBoot + UEFI Boot + fTMP. After that, BF6 started to run... and so magically did APB alongside it too now... I just think that LittleOrbit just forgot to tell us that GFAC does indeed requires those two same requirements too in order to work properly... So from what i see, most users who had trouble here is probably a thing alongside SecureBoot and TPM2.0 being disabled. witch can by themselves be enabled easy by just turning it one in the bios whiteout problems if your Harddrive is already formatted in GPT, if not... that's where things gets complicated and need to switch your boot partition..To check if you PC is MBR or GPT:https://youtu.be/3lAYgl_eBlQ I am warning you: Switching your Windows hard drive partition from MBR to GPT isn't a trivial task to undertake as a normal user. If you don't do it correctly or happen to have a hiccup while doing it, it could result in windows not booting up the next time you restart your machine and be stuck in a blackscreen deathloop. Id suggest you follow the official Microsoft online tutorial about MBR2BPT whit caution and to backing-up your files beforehands somewhere in case if fails.https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/mbr-to-gptIf your unsure how to do so, here is the alternative: is to wipe/re-install windows from an install CD instead and make sure you setup your bios accordingly (Enable Secureboot, Set Boot as UEFI, and Enabling fTMP/TMP2.0) before, so you install the UEFI Based Version of Windows.
