the trend of the game does not change, everything that will be done by the development team will be changed by smart teenagers .

changing game files is not allowed

Nothing in this change is remotely related to any game files. This is purely Windows.

Thank you for the response. Hopefully it improves your experience.

I forgot to weigh in on this thread when this was originally posted. Better late than never.

The reason why EAC disables manual editing of CPU Affinity/Priority for processes it attaches to is for security reasons. For most games, EAC is considered a child process which starts and hooks into the game where necessary. On start of a child process, the child process inherits the parent process Affinity for simplicity reasons on Windows. Very rarely will you ever need a child process to access more processing cores than the parent process, and also simplifies data access across processing cores. Setting process priority higher for the game process should not be necessary. Very rarely does it do anything, and has much wider implications. To quote this article's answer on Stack Overflow:

"A realtime priority thread can never be pre-empted by timer interrupts and runs at a higher priority than any other thread in the system. As such a CPU bound realtime priority thread can totally ruin a machine.

Creating realtime priority threads requires a privilege (SeIncreaseBasePriorityPrivilege) so it can only be done by administrative users."

Any process that has real time priority essentially can get ahead of anything else, force other threads to wait until they are done and are one level below the Operating System in terms of priority for CPU time. Perfect if you wish to have your game squeeze a frame or two, or if you wish to get your cheat to circumvent EAC detection by bypassing it altogether.

And as for forcing CPU Affinity/Priority through Registry Edits, this is NOT SUPPORTED by EAC at all, and has resulted in bans for EAC circumnavigation in other games. You perform this Registry Edit AT YOUR OWN RISK.

As far as this RegEdit is concerned, it would be considered circumnavigating an EAC safeguard.

In this case we are on High priority but I do understand what you're aiming or referring to.

Why not just have High priority cap? I doubt anyone needs anything more than that for normal play. It is one thing about EAC in games that I really hate.

Above High does weird things to the entire stability of the system anyway.

i see no reason to add extra problems for myself via getting locked out of my own account, if someone really wants to brute force my account on a dead game they're more than welcome

    Unless you either:

    - enter your credentials on a phishing site,

    - database gets hacked or stolen, (still got luck here if the password itself in the db is encrypted or salted/hashed)

Which are both pretty rare, but not unheard of.

You really don't need 2FA if you also have a solid 21+ random character password that may change around 30ish days. For that I recommend either KeePass or LastPass to maintain those passwords. You barely use it anywhere and if you need it you can copy it form your preferred password manager.

can't enter beacon, it gives me the following error:

"You were discconected due to a server/client mismatch. Please open apblauncher to get any update" (already done that, still gives me this error).

there's also a second tab with the following error:

"District enter has failed due to unreal version mismatch between client and server. If this a development version, make sure that you are trying to connect to the correc district server".

PD: I can play all the other districts without issues.

This one is easy to resolve, you used a config that removed muzzle flashs or other things.

    in this folder delete everything:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\APB Reloaded\APBGame\Content\Release\Packages\VFX\Weapon

Then start the APB Launcher and press repair to make the launcher get them back.

Quote my post if you're still having trouble, then I will upload the clean ones.

  4. Would be better to allow us to trade them. They're currently blocked to trade. Which also doesn't allow us to share them between characters by mail...

I once won a tommy gun and straight up deleted it because it's actually useless to get one now.

tbh i’ve yet to experience this bug but i’ve been told turning off all hud icons (contacts, mailboxes, money laundry, etc) can help sometimes, as this seems to be an issue where the game suddenly decreases the max display limit

That seems like a fair point as I also play with a lot of hud elements disabled. I never experienced this bug either, even swapping 2-3 characters.

My internet security sees APB Reloaded as a treat. I've disabled my internet security that fixed my issue. At times also a PC reboot seems to help too. (I know this sounds like basic tech support 😬)

Sorry I didn't take a look at this topic for a while, my PC specs are:

    i5-4590

    16(4x4)GB RAM 1600 MHz

Asus Radeon RX 580 4 GB

Do the above first, see if anything blocks it or is not allowed to get through.

At least you get to play.... Ive been trying to get on for a week now on ps4 and haven’t been able to play at all because of an error code -1 I’m getting on log in... Despite posting about it and talking to a moderator a few days ago there’s still no solution and the game is still down for me. I was told it’s an open house issue 🤔 and there was no eta on when it would be back... seems like they need to just get rid of this game and start over

    Couple things.

#1 I spoke to one of the GM's in the game 2 days ago in NA, he told me that a open beta public test for the engine upgrade is coming soon. So that is some great news. When its going to happen, who knows. Would be nice if they did the test on Christmas day.  I just hope when they do the public test, give us free premium , 50% sales, and a new map district to play in, but with the new graphics, I'm assuming new environment changes are going to be in the two main districts.

The only wrong thing you've said here is the part I highlighted in green. He never stated when, or how. It's a 'plan' to do so, not said any ETA.

well i definitely noticed less stuttering when i properly set the affinity to cores 2-7.

any news for my problem setting the priority?

Yeah that is because Core0 and Core1 are mostly hammered by other applications taking the same place.

I haven't found as to why it doesn't work for you,  would you be able to tell which Windows 10 build you're on? Maybe different build needs a different path.

I did not use Process Lasso to change anything (yet) I only used your registy file. As for setting Affinity, so just disable it from running on core 0 and allow it on 1-7? im not understanding your directions sorry.

    VXcDk09.png

For APB. e x e I would just set it from 2-7. Don't worry about the other information 🙂

I'll have to dig into why it wouldn't work for you.

and as for process lasso what core would we want apb running on 0-7?

i did a full reboot of my pc after i applyed the registry edit, so yeah.

I did notice it interfering with Process Lasso, did you change it there? That one basically is not allowed to change priority anymore. Let the reg file do the priority.

For affinity I would suggest them not to run on core0 and the first thread (SMT/hyperthreading) since 85% runs on there.

Which build of Windows 10 do you run? 1909? ( start -> run -> 'winver' )

I'm on Windows 10 and this doesn't seem to work for me. APB stays on Normal Priority and as for Affinity its set to use all 8 of my cores.

Did you use the manual method or did you use the file I've created?

Could you please provide a screenshot of the location as shown on my screenshot to remove it?

The forums do rename . e x e to 'program' which makes it difficult to understand for people to do it manually.

As Kev nicely posted below, this doesn't affect affinity.

I'm on win10 as well, worked without issues. Care to screenshot the registry on the location Kyouki posted earlier?

This wouldn't affect Affinity, we use a different program to set that.

    That would be

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\APBprogram\PerfOptions

Take note of the 'APBprogram' which should be 'APB. e x e' without the spaces of course.

I have seen people hard lock on players or even snap between different players every time they take damage.  One guy was hanging out of a car window and snapping between at the 3 of us before he died.  It was obvious he was using an aimbot programmed to automatically lock on the last person to do damage to him.

You can also tell people are using hard locks when their aim perfectly follows their target through walls.  The death cam though extremely short and only available from your point of death has been a great way to spot obvious cheaters.

Snapping is something a lot of veterans can do as well, very well. Without it being tool assisted.

Read the following from back in 2011:

    https://apbreloaded.blogspot.com/2011/09/entering-open-beta-home-stretch-part-i.html

at "Issue (2): Cheaters - and the Perception of Cheaters"

    Still very relevant today.
