I'm on 1909 and still have the input lag so no thats bs.

It's a theory we had/have and by no means any confirmation, we're trying to figure it out or rule out potential issues.

i got noticeably less input lag on the beta version but worse fps in waterfront even though the input lag was way less than live.

today i just went windowed fullscreen on live apb just to see if the windows update helps with live client also and it actually improved my live version's input lag aswell.

The game has to be coded for it to function properly though, it's a different method of rendering the whole game. With the benefits of alt tab / windowed mode combined with the performance and input latency from the old Fullsceen Exclusive mode.

yeah, im talking about input lag not fps. the only noticably high improvement in fps and overall looks/performance i saw was Asylum.

with the new way windows handles windowed fullscreen i noticed the less input lag easily when firing fbw/45 and obeya rifle myself.

It does feel much much easier to hit the firerate and even beyond that on the engine upgrade compared to live, I did feel that as well.

I agree that it might be hard but in my mind that system works like these npc contacts are just placeholders upon triggers that open contact menu. And these menus have just a flag for a district where it can be opened. So, I believe they need just to set up flag for both districts

That is your estimation (and mine) but it might not be the reality. I don't know exactly how those technical details work.

I don't think it's difficult, as you're able to pledge any contact without coming to him. They need to just allow it doing everywhere

And that's mostly the problem, many people consider it to be a easy thing to set out and get done while it may require a lot of technical redesign under the hood to allow those things to happen. Everything right now is designed from a concept or idea and going out of that path might need 4-5 steps back into the code to make it start working from there on.

Not saying I disagree with the idea however, it would be better for the Jericho server players and APB in general.

  4. This problem is a bit of a two side problem, some people genuinely like the open world and the chaos it produces but it also allows griefers to be effective at annoying you (even more if you stream your game).

I've heard suggestions before to have ghost people outside of your mission but for some that ruins the interaction with the world or other players (or a sense of idea that you're not alone in the server)

It's gonna be a though one to crack but I am sure with the engine done they come up with a pretty solution to this problem.

  5. I believe it has been said they do want to try and bring back this old classical login menu soundtrack, but that all depends if they can make that work.

I am completely okay with something new and fitting as well, as I am not that keen on nostalgia feel towards things.

Where it went wrong was basically the previous team did what they could to keep the game afloat which was making armas items and joker box items, may it been good or bad.

That lead to the game standing still in time for the vast majority of years while it slowly faded.

We desperately need the engine upgrade first for many reasons, as the old dated problematic live client is severely out of date and suffers in using systems available resources as well as the old underneath the hood engine and systems that take care of many of the core components of APB.

I truly believe LO can pull it off and make this happen, but it's only 1/5th of what needs to happen before APB is considered "better" then before. Many crucial things like weapon balancing, match-making, out of memory crashing due to newer graphics cards, old bugs like the waypoints disappearing after swapping character or district.

It's not a holy grail or revival, but it's a start to an exciting new and modern future for this game.

  6. Roughly 18% faster then 3000 series this is due this line in the article linked below:
"The Ryzen 9 5950X compared to the ‘current-gen’ Ryzen 9 3950X is 18% and 12% faster respectively in single and multi-threaded tests."

Since APB purely uses single threaded performance it'll be 18% (roughly) faster then previous generation, I am using a 3950x with 4.350 MHz all core overclock and I achieve stable 144 fps in most cases.

I truly think intel has to step up one way or another but they hit a roadblock in terms of going down a notch.

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/linus-torvalds-wishes-intel-avx-512-a-painful-death avx is for very specific case loads and its already been proven with the benchmarks that it doesn't make a significant difference.

    100% correct.

You undersell it. AVX has been supported by basically every CPU made in the past 10+ years.

Dropping AVX support just to cater to a tiny minority of people that adamantly refuse to upgrade their beyond ancient hardware (and rabidly demand developers still cater to them) is a terrible plan, and will hurt the game going forward. It's a shame that MattScott somehow doesn't realize this.

I understand your statement but as the others have also stated, AVX is going away as it's not a meaningful increase in performance and only increase complexity of workload which might lead to more instability.

    17 hours ago, MarshallRawR said:

AVX is a set of instructions CPUs can use. AVX is not supported on some older CPUs and if it's not, you couldn't play at all.

AVX is not needed for the Live version of the game, and it also won't be for the beta. The graphic just shows having AVX or not enabled

in the game code didn't have an impact on performance, so they could just remove it and have the maximum amount of people able to play.

Which is a good trade off if you ask me, the more people we can get in to play the better.

  8. Those are just things to keep you busy or active/engaged. It's like the thing people do with their legs, shaking or jiggling them.

Other then that, people will call anyone a "tryhard" which lost it's meaning at this point since it's even thrown at a guy who boots the game up every once a while and plays a casual mission or 5. But with a lot of experience in the game knowing where to attack from or what weapons to use against other weapons.

"Oh you beat me? Must be a tryhard."

Comparing gta 5 with apb is the stupidest thing I usually see on forums. GTA 5 is pve based adventure game when apb is a competitive arcade pvp game.

We have unbalanced weapon system because of the stupid players who had been asking for new weapons for years during g1 era. We have over 100 weapons. It’s just impossible to make it balanced. That’s the reason why big companies that producing pvp competitive games do not add new weapons or add it super rarely.

I won’t be surprised if suggestions you make are something like: we need a new district, new hairstyles, a racing district and we need it right now.

The only thing that the game needs right now is the new engine that will let LO get rid of matchmaking per instance, having only up to 40 players to match with and making cross instance matchmaking instead.

    Gold medal to you, sir.

Feels like you've nailed most things on point.

  10. Trade lock's can be triggered by:
    1) Windows Update build upgrades (1909 to 2004 for example), as well as reinstalling Windows.

    2) Driver updates or changes,

    3) BIOS upgrades or changes, this may include setting changes or overclocks,

    4) Hardware changes,

    5) Logging in on other systems.

There may be more or there may be less to this list but this is the list of what I have collected so far from my own trade lock(s) and stories I heard from others.

Everyone should play on the worst graphics POSSIBLE and stream on Twitch.

Also, continuosly press space bar as often as possible.

Best way to make people NEVER want to play the game.

    Carry on.

This is not what is meant by Frosi's post, what the intention is is to lower the chances the game crashes, by lowering the graphical settings this risk of crashing the game becomes less. If this game functioned fine on normal graphics everyone would've played on them.

But with GC stutter every 60 seconds + this crashing issue for RTX and beyond this is the only method to keep a sustainable playable framerate as well as reducing the crash frequency.

  12. With these low population numbers you don't want to create more segmentation though but I approve of your detailed post. It's very often the case you get the basic versus the veterans, which isn't fun for neither party.

Stomp or get stomped - never fun to play with or against. I'd argue the curve from basic to veteran is even more larger due how many guns and complex situations APB can have, from missions to weapon load outs.

Match making is one of those crucial systems which should be possible after the engine upgrade to take a look at, I doubt they can do anything about it right now nor would you want to spend more time on the old spiderweb code.

its just a driver / windows update fault. Im staying at 1903 windows 10 build and im good with 2080 Super without crashing(or having any other issues with it) ... so i supose its some directx updates that gets this shit fucked. Or im just lucky silly person.

EDIT: i tested APB on everything maxed out(using custom configs for that) and my RTX 2080 Super was used at 60-80% so yea ...

  14. Thank you for your feedback, stuff like this is always helpful for us.

I do want to add a few personal opinions for room for improvement for future topics.

    - be serious (the only way it will be considered as a valid opinion/feedback)

    - Please don't play with FONT SIZES I don't think there is anyone who likes reading through that.
    - Less clutter overall with the same format/structure of the news post and then you're feedback based on playing with the gun.

I encourage people to make these kinds of post so we have multiple opinions and visions on the changes.
