Officer Foxtail and I went on patrol for a few hours in the past few days and ended up with quite a few very exciting pursuits and shootouts in both the Financial as well as the Waterfront districts. Thanks to everyone on the criminal side who participated! The only thing that was mildly irritating was that the servers seemed to have some kind of issue with game freezes and people being thrown out to the lobby a lot (especially on Sunday). ----------------------------------------------------------- The weekly installment of the "LAPD Squad Meet Up" is being held on Wednesday and, as always, takes place in combination with the "Chipp's Car Club" (CCC) player event. The starting time for the "LAPD Squad Meet Up" is around 19:00 GMT*. We usually meet up at least an hour or two before CCC starts and do regular patrols together as well as custom high speed chases (depending on whether or not open world crime is going on). If you want to participate - on the cop or the criminal side - just let us know. The CCC player event does start at 21:00 GMT* and the location for this week should be the Financial Gold district. Please use either the CCC Discord LINK or the CCC APB Forum LINK for more details about the CCC event and the specifics about the district's event location. Members of LAPD Squad will again take care of traffic control during the street races after the CCC car show (where participants present their newest customisations). Any other enforcer or criminal interested in helping out - and thus doing something entirely different in game for a change - is welcomed to keep the traffic at bay with us. If you have time to attend, we hope to see you on the streets. In any case please stay safe out there and use all necessary precautions to stay healthy! --------- * Make sure to take "Daylight Saving Time" (DST) into account in regard to the starting times for both the LAPD Squad Meet Up (19:00 GMT) as well as Chipp's Car Club (21:00 GMT) in case you hail from a country not using DST!

@Officer_Foxtail - Thanks Fox! I think Kuro's ride looks awesome in that "sepia" coloured background shot.

Thanks for the update. I personally really dislike voice chat for all the obvious reasons, but I get why the average console user might want it as an option. One thing I would really like to see in regards to text chat is an ability to save and then use short "customized" text snippets. For example for an enforcer to say something like "Freeze!" or "Need assistance at my location!" in the normal text chat window when pressing the assigned button (though I would recommend a cool-down so it can not be spammed repeatedly to soften the big abuse potential). That way people could for example quickly tell the group/clan/team something in the heat of a gunfight or pursuit without dying due to being busy typing (can not even count all the times I died while typing something). Besides this it would also be a tremendous help in roleplay (RP) and semi-RP situations. Not sure if the implementation of something like that would be possible though.

Went on a solo patrol for a few hours yesterday evening and while things started a tad slow at first, I ended up with quite a few pursuits and shootouts in one of the Financial districts. Later I was joined by a new "prospect" but sadly our patrol was cut short by technical issues on his end. What surprised me was that there seemed to be quite a few new players around that evening, which is a good sign I think (especially since they seemed to be genuine new players and not new characters by veterans). Hopefully this trend will continue. In any case I see you on the streets!

@FirstCommander - Oh no that car might be prone to suddenly block all the tracks at their narrowest points for no apparent reason @Officer_Foxtail - Good job Fox on the showcase video - keep up the great work mate! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The weekly installment of the "LAPD Squad Meet Up" is being held in its usual slot on Wednesday and, as always, takes place in combination with the "Chipp's Car Club" (CCC) player event. @FirstCommander - Well done on those track showcases for "Chipp's Car Club" - that is actually a brilliant idea mate! Seeing all the tracks is also very interesting for me as I usually only know those parts of the tracks I take care during traffic control.

@Officer_Foxtail - Very nice work on the latest, fast paced pursuit video mate - keep up the good work and keep 'em coming! @all - Do not forget today is "LAPD Squad Meet Up" and "Chipp's Car Club" day! Details about both can be found in the announcement posting HERE. See you later on the streets!

@Bawes - There is a stickied thread HERE that tries to deal/help players with the above mentioned graphic cards related issues (i.e. crashes).

Had this too yesterday (and a few times in the past). Usually after this message I am moved back to the log-in page and after re-logged in things usually work fine. So can you log-in again and then play (like I can) or is that error on your end persistent? On my end I assume the error comes up from time to time because I have an old potato PC and sometimes there are issues with the game loading into a district for a long time, making BattleEye probably think I do not do anything and then throwing me out.

@FirstCommander - Well done FC, great to see you back on duty! @Officer_Foxtail - Outstanding work Fox, thanks for sharing your latest video!

Customization - I really do not know any other game that allows this much freedom of creation.

Yesterday I had serious issues with general lag, constant lag spikes, freezes and FPS drops as low as 5 FPS in the Financial Districts (EU Server). So I wonder if something significant has been changed server-wise. A year ago I was able to play just fine, even on a full server. Somehow things went downhill steadily from that point on. Nothing has changed on my end as I am still using the very same computer, have the same internet provider and am even utilizing the advanced launcher (without it I could not run the game). Granted my laptop is an old potato with low specs and I have to run the game pretty much with very low/minimum settings, but like I said I did not have these massive issues a year ago (sure it did not ran great back then either but it surely did not run as bad as it does now). So what changed? Is anyone of you guys having the same problem/experience?

2/17 Maintenance Announcement
StevenDeckard replied to Sakebee's topic in General Discussion Archive
Wonder how APB fares on consoles - any console user can chime in on this and offer his/her experience? I also assume there is no cross-platform play between the console and PC versions, right? -
Hmmm - what about making dethreathing impossible from the get go? - If someone gains silver they can not drop down to bronze or green and are restricted to play on silver servers (but may join gold servers). - If someone gains gold they can not drop down to silver, bronze or green and are restricted to play on gold servers. This would mean that those players that are constantly stomping bronzes will be silver in no time and then have to play on silver servers against other silver players. If they are really good enough on those silver servers they will eventually gain gold and be pitched against other golds on the gold servers. That should result in full silver and gold servers since I see LOTS and LOTS and LOTs of golds and silver in bronze each day. Being pitched against golds and silvers in bronze district missions usually results in players like me being shredded to pieces as we certainly pose no real threat to them. No fun for us certainly, and whether or not it is fun for them... - ...well probably these players like to stomp others or they would not come to bronze instead of playing on silver or gold. But I like to think that most people rather would like to have a bit of a challenge when playing - right? Anyway if dethreating is removed people would have to play against others closer to their skill level - that should equal an increase in the population on silver and gold servers. (And it might be a good idea to let NA players come to and join EU servers and the other way around.)
