@MattScotthad a quick discussion on Discord and made the statement... "our stats show that RIOT is 1.5x more popular than Fight Club" i was pretty surprised by that. i wonder how that was determined? unique players? finished matches? in other words, was it an "apples to apples" stats comparison or derived/concluded from assumed data points?

thank very, very much @Glaciers a lot of people will love seeing this post!

maybe it's just me, but generally seems like there's more 'info' flowing. feels like it's time for a communicative update of some sort. (+2 for the use of the word 'communicative')

if you want to be a lvl 255 with all the mods to go along with it... and you wanna play with your crew and come down to fight those pesky lvl 10 players in silver... here's an idea to help make it more fair. add the higher lvl players to radar and give them the "struck" indicator like you would see when you're shot with a tagger. this at least helps newer players have an idea of where these people are and at least get a shot off before being mowed down.

https://news.unikrn.com/article/valve-issues-one-million-vac-bans-january-n_ds Continuing the record-setting trend that started in December, Valve's Anti-Cheat (VAC) system continues to crush cheaters in games like CS:GO, Dota 2, and more. The VAC ban wave started when CS:GO went free to play and averaged around 25,000 bans a day in January.

amen to all of that that cookie said. and you just can't get it until you experience it for yourself. it's painful. it's ridiculous. and it's impossible to like this game as a new player unless you REALLY like abuse and wanna play it. i don't like it and i have a few thousand hours invested. to say it's "not fixable" is not an answer. nor is the cheating situation. it just isn't acceptable. we need to do better...

not like this... it's an all out russian take over

you gotta get in there now if you can. what a mess lol....

right now it's on 0. is there a way to make it smaller? the UI takes up so much of the screen on lower resolution settings. thanks!

@TackoGirl, what is the issue with 144/145? i am running at that and suffer some bad stuttering now as well. thanks!

so reshade was an issue from a "hack" side of things (not sure why it is but speed hacking isn't). i wonder about game filter, which is a now a part of the GEFORCE EXPERIENCE app. it's so easy to use, and it's now installed on a TON of gaming rigs. does anyone have experience with this? and is this a "no-no" for APB?

little bit'a stuttering and sputtering on citadel
gordIsMyName replied to gordIsMyName's topic in PC
i had the same exact experience. restarted the game. nothing fixed it. went to jericho and it played horribly even with a low ping (40 ms). then i had a game crash and decided that's enough for the day -
i love reshade. rather amazing what it can do to refine graphics. i run it on Farming Simulator 19 and it is stunning. could it be that some folks are using Nvidia's game filter? it is part of the geforce experience app. i'm not sure if it could gettcha blocked or not.

yes... a "police kit" would indeed be good. i think it is lacking in-game but i know it is likely for a reason. you want players rollin' around in something impressive and fresh and new. an old, stodgy crown vic that you see on old cop shows isn't 'hip'. but i love the car. and would love to have some mods for it. 4wd for starts

7/10 RIOT Update / Minor Jericho outage
gordIsMyName replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
i read "Yakuza" skin and was immediately looking for a buy button i do hope more people are willing to play RIOT mode. i have been through a single match and had no idea what i was doing. here's how it went.... i ran around with a pack of other players and we shot some people. then we died. then i came back and was resold my same weapons. i had on a toxic suit for a short time, then i had my original cloths back. then i died again when someone shot me through dense gas fog that no one could possibly see through. i have no idea if the other people i was playing with knew what they were doing either. they seemed equally oblivious as to what was going on, but ran with a purpose, so i followed. naked leading the blind... -
rofl... @AsgerLund. maybe we can have the best of both worlds?

in the past, when LO bans, the game gets a massive uptick in ddos. it's a massive disruption to not only the players, but to LO as a company. so, here's what i think is happening... get a ddos that works and make sure it works let it run for a while... test it... tune it... confirm it does protect although not perfect, what is cookin' now is certainly helping (and probably cost tens of thousands of dollars) add a totally new anti-cheat learn from what BE and the others didn't provide give it some time to learn and profile as all these apps require with all the cheating going on now, it's getting quite the education time to clean house kick the cheaters with reasonable confidence prep for the pile of support tickets huddle in place and brace for the ddos rinse, repeat... all of this has been done before, but it lacked the ddos protection. so it was 2 steps forward, 1 step back. and, this isn't something LO would broadcast to the community. nor have they in the past. thus their silence. i'm unclear as to what uniqueness the new anti-cheat provides, but... i am wondering if it can help with commercially available exploits. and updating the hack wouldn't really be worthwhile at this point for a 'company' as it would be hard to recoup the investment given the small player base. is it possible that 'every little thing... gonna be alright...' ? or... have i had one too many cups of coffee today?

large cities around the world use horses for patrol. you will commonly see them when there are crowds of people or in places where maneuverability is an issue. https://www.scienceabc.com/social-science/why-do-policemen-in-some-big-cities-still-use-horses.html that is a decent short article about them. they are really quite common and a part of modern police forces. interesting contrast putting them in APB with the "tuner" vibe it has. with the infamous engine upgrade, things like this get a lot more viable.

fyi: just got out of a 5 hour session on citadel fight club. it was suffering some jitters. others were mentioning it in chat. seemed worse in asylum. maybe 5-10% of the overall game play was affected by the lag. i was in yesterday for about the same time period and it was maybe 2-5% overall.
-
@Yeedman, that is indeed a good question!
-
@AsgerLund, i'm feelin' your post may have some brilliance in it
-
hey, i can't make that up! just check twitter. to celebrate such a profound day, i'm gonna do something 'cow' related in APB. gonna be fun if you wanna celebrate it too, do some 'cow' themed thingy and post it! see you fellers in san paro! ps: i wanna hamburger...

even if it is only the guns you own, it would be great to have a place to go target shoot... as in a real range. can be super simple; you and only you with no other players. be nice to keep that sort of stuff out of mission districts and put into a nice place to just shoot.
