If you talk about the game's age as a reason for the game being as dead as it is, you are an idiot. Period. What about WoW? FFXIV? FFXI? The hundreds, even thousands of other games far older than APB that are, to this day, alive and kicking? FFXI has been around since 2002 and has a larger player base than APB. Game age is not an excuse.

Wow and Final Fantasy are pretty special snowflakes which: 1. fall into a different game category (MMORPGs) and 2. received massive content updates over the years to keep up. APB can't even remotely compare to that, which puts it at the same level of the thousands of other games that became obsolete.

The issue is that in case of other games, the makers smartly close it before it's too late and move up onto the next project.

really don't get the purpose of this topic other than to spread negativity for no reason, all it does it pull people into toxic behavior and is just generally a really petty motive

how about recognizing that LO is making hundredfold the effort old G1 management did in 2016 - 2018. you can't win if you don't try, and i really respect LO for trying very hard.

I honestly think they $%^&^ to just $%^&^ about something.

Too many things were twisted and distorted by them. for me to think otherwise.

Either that or they need to take a real angry poo. Like sumo red face style.

Alright, if that's your argument, what about CS:S or CS1.6? Both are 10+ years old, both are no longer supported since years, both haven't been played in eSports environment in years, and they're still bigger than APB despite being released 5-10+ years before. The original Tribes from 1998 has more players, no new content. TERA has more players, 7 years old. CoD:MW2 has more players, no new content, released a year before APB. ArmA 2 hasn't received content updates in years, 2009 release date.

Age is not a factor in how well a game succeeds or keeps its player base. It wasn't until like late 2012-mid 2013 that CS:GO even started to become big, and before that 1.6 was the game that everyone was playing despite it being 14 years old, but new content hadn't been released in years at that point. The game was solid, and as such, it succeeded for almost 15 years before dying out. The last official patch 1.6 received that affected gameplay instead of fixing bugs was on June 5th, 2003.

It is in it's own category

WoW and Final Fantasy has more developers working on it than APB has players playing it, so let's not talk about that.

WoW and FF have massive dev teams and more than enough money and resources to develop their game, which is not really the case for APB. It's not much different since Little Orbit took over.

Next to that WoW and Final Fantasy are globally acknowledged. There are not many people that don't know about them, so it's much easier to uphold a reputation. APB is one of the more obscure games in the industry, and overshadowed by games like GTA.

It's a much tougher job for APB to uphold a good reputation, though I must say G1 also ignored literally every chance they had to improve the game's reputation, and instead pushed the Engine Upgrade as vaporware.
