  1. Most of this was posted in another thread by me already but probably the wrong section (was more about issues there) -

Please add spoilers again - the hover/mark black text to read kind or the normal expand/deflate ones like in the old forums (prefereably the latter for vids, gifs, big pics)

I know, I know, your eyes bleed when having a bright theme but...

While there are makeshift solutions, such as this :^) :

Having an official light theme would be quite nice, especially also on mobile (which isn't too convenient to do yourself otherwise).

Idk, I just prefer it a lot. Probably cause I'm used to books? Who knows.

  2. I feel like this belongs to https://forums.gamersfirst.com/forum/7-game-forum-suggestions/

And I'd rather vote for a hidden one where people can't boast about + boost their ego with... Or where others are discouraged cause they see some highranks. Open Conflict felt nice in that regard.

However the old one with announcement was quite baddass I gotta say xd

Threat segregation only caused issues for APB.

The old penalty-system - as in: get 20% or even less rewards when you play in lower districts used to work quite well unless people just wanted to farm weapon roles...

Not just that, imagine if you want to edit a post and include a quote
    it is just a pain

Isn't that just the same as before? Click "Quote", go down to the box, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, "Edit", Ctrl+V?

Works for me. Was there an easier way in the old forums xd (ye you could make custom quotes etc but you can do the same here in the editor - except name + timestamp)

  4.

Reshade changes the shaders (not in the files I think but also by injection - both might be an issue, injection might be worse). They said something about this:

Q: [Custom] Shaders and certain configs, will they be allowed back into APB?
A: I feel like that this would be a super slippery slope, to say we’re gunna allow custom shaders or changes to the game. Now having said that, I do think we need to make these options available in the game, we need to put them in. We need to allow players to change the colour of the crosshair for low accessibility, and low processing reasons (Editorial: He meant low processing power.). That’s something that we should be putting in. While we appreciate the community doing the leg work, we feel it should come from our side, because it’ll not only look better, it’ll come from us, it’ll work properly and won’t be flagged by our anti-cheat. It’s a slippery slope to say “sure, you can mess with the components of the game”.

It seems like they don't mind themselves (unless), the anticheat might flag+ban you though. (And I honestly doubt support will help you more than once then.) They'll see what they can implement themselves etc., I guess.

  5. You can always ignore them, this mutes their themes

In general though... uhhh... ye same.

Would be nice if there was an option to disable those. Probably would take a bit away from the game, would be sad (if it wasn't for the single note "troll" ones) but ye.

If you also forbid advanced launcher/removing/moving subfolders of APB, I'd like to have the option to completely disable ingame videos, takes aways quite some load time

Also: I feel like this rather belongs to https://forums.gamersfirst.com/forum/7-game-forum-suggestions/

i mean, that is in the context of being spam, you can argue also that it was needed.

Specially when quoting someone or something, it is a real hassle to deal with quotes on the current richtext format.

Ye, I totally agree with you, just saying.

You can't even click below a quote to continue writing if you delete a bit too much underneath by just holding backspace (atleast on mobile)

    Rather troublesome.

    Small bump
Noticed we can't change tittles too now.

"Do not bump a topic unless needed."

    It's been a day lul.

I guess the title thing wasn't intended to begin with...

I'd like to have a non-wysiwyg editor too though, although it doesn't have to be BBCode specifically, just saying. Bumps weren't condoned in the old forums either...

(Just a headsup, no offense. Count it as another bump xd)

Also: Spoilers 😞 I said it in another thread, I mis s them

  8. Ah yes, I guess i'll make an own thread for this:

    A more customizable version of

the preset is close to the theme Tobii made - but:

You can do "atrocious" things like this to make your eyes bleed:

    unknown.png

Or pretty + aesthetic things like this!

    GbKKztN.png

    Download: https://userstyles.org/styles/160572/apb-forum-minimal-customizable

(You need Stylish, which is available for Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Android (and various other Chromium and Mozilla based browsers))

Some things might look weird with some colors because of the layout of the forums.

I did not add pickers all different things (I bet), if you encounter issues, let me know and I'll get on them right away.

I did not remove all shadows yet but made some improvements for consistency though (e.g. edit/quotebuttons).

I'll remove some borders, shadows and add some more things to customized if people are interested.

    DISCLAIMER:

Use at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage you might do to your eyes.

Customization is done here, after pressing the encircled button:

Finally you can have something that fits the best Discord theme!

CTRL + F5 should allow you to make changes and then hit the update style button.

No need to remove the theme.

Doing the unforgivable sin but actually doubleposting:

I added a bit for the edit/quotebar now too, the buttons are not white anymore. Just added

    .ipsItemControls > ul > li > a, .ipsItemControls > button

Ah damn, how did you do that the website actually starts below the navbar? - Edit: nvm got it, easierr than expected

tbh, leave the Swastikas and Nazi imagery in, if anything you will upset the 3-4 SJW Germans here. I am a German myself and I don't see a reason to forbid that. The Swastika is a Religious symbol, to begin with.

no, it is most definitely not religious - the temple symbol is the other way around. (and putting a black swastika in a white circle with red stuff around it definitely is not related to any religion) (unless you want to argue nazis are kind of a cult)

i'm german too and to me swastikas are okay in videogames. and unless they are there just to offend others (unlike wolfenstein or some historical games) they should always be allowed.

which is obviously subjective - and i feel there has to be a line of good taste somewhere - would it be okay to allow people to shout "gas the jews" too? as i said, drawing a line somewhere, and i guess. it's not like they forbid "jedem das seine" which had a long history before it was instrumentalized by the nazis.

maybe noone ingame would care about nazi symbols either - but it would definitely create a bad image for apb/LO - buzzfeed headlines such as "family friendly game dev endorses nazi propaganda" xd

Woooooow! This is crazyyyyyy!! Tho, I never would imagine console gamers would have such lack of knowledge of forum browsing/posting....like.....quad-post? hexa-post!?  ROFL, this is going to be funnyyyyyy...and I thought Colby forumers were the funniest ones after that ol' server merge....

This is not limited to console gamers, don't act like that lol

    You should though.

There are over 20 weapons only obtainable through gambling mechanics? This doesn't look good at all.

In hindsight you should change the model and take notes from the game Path of Exile.

The developer releases gambling boxes as well, the content is purely cosmetic, but that aside.

They display the odds of each item and release it's content after approximately three months to be normally purchasable through a set price in their cash shop.

Therefore those boxes work as a kind of early access. Which would be better if you don't want to entirely remove them.

€: Also take care of these specifically named Joker Boxes. I mean do you want to associate your employees with gambling, i.e. GM's Power Joker Mystery Box? Not to mention that their description says limited release only, so removing them should be no problem at all.

Take your time, but keep that in mind.

    This.

    • And that aside, there are also so many useless drops for people who actually spent lots of money on armas already - should they be "punished" for that? I'm not talking about not giving any duplicates, then you could just drop Legendaries from every box - but maybe reducing the odds of them.
    • or add increasing odds like Dota 2? (if that's not a thing yet)
    • Revealing the odds would be a good move - people will still gamble (-> CS:GO gambling sites)
    • Adding trials via JT would be a good move
    • Or giving people a choice of one untradeable one once they reach 255, idk
    • Add more cosmetic (exclusive?) stuff (the ideas from quote sound good)
    • Add free ingame lootboxes with way worse chances as random rewards (mb with stuff like few jt/apb$ etc)

I'm glad you don't make legendaries generally untradeable.

However... taking EA as an example doesn't seem too good 😄

I guess you do you. Just listing some ideas from other games (that you may be aware of though)

Yea, your point is what exactly?

My point was they they are not VAC bans but Game Bans, noone mentioned the name 😛 -

And it was mostly clarification about which effects both Game Bans and VAC bans can have.

Tbf, idk why I added your quote... >Whoops, Sorry

Since APB already exist on Steam, i'd love to see the game exclusively played through steam.
(yes its nice freedom that you atm don't need to use steam, but consider this.....)

It'd also be nice that If you get caught by BE or FF again in the future, then the steam account should get a VAC record.

I realize cheaters would *just create a fresh steam account, without other games to use for cheating*, but again - those types of players will exist regardless and with their level 0-5 empty steam account and untouchable god-like skills, not so hard to spot 🙂

I have even more distaste for the veteran-type player who uses closet-cheats and pretends a certain level of skill and even has pride in it, when it's a friggin' program doing the work.
Those types of veterans would be risking a lot more by the steam model.

isn't VAC bans only in games made by Valve? There needs to be some deals made between BE and Valve for it to happen. It is a neat idea but I don't think it's gonna happen

    43 minutes ago, ninetenduh said:

Yes, VAC bans only come when the game is VAC protected and having VAC is like having nothing at all. And Valve won't ban your entire account just because of a VAC ban, what i like to see are HWID bans, oh those would be wonderful.

Those are called Game Bans: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6899-IOSK-9514

    Quote from there:

    Quote

The effects of the game ban are determined by the developer, and must be consistent with a VAC ban, such as being prevented from playing online with other players and/or trading items for that game. It cannot prevent the user from launching and playing the game offline. It cannot prevent the user from using Steam.

The duration of the game ban is determined by the developer. Only permanent game bans are displayed on the user’s profile. Temporary game bans, or suspensions, are not displayed.

(In all VAC protected games there are also none VAC servers that you can always play on.)

The issue here is that APB doesn't have any kind of offline stuff - I guess they could do it like "limit to social"? Not sure. I don't think Steam would agree to this. That's something LO would have to figure out - and even then, Steam is rather indecisive at times, maybe they'd revert their decision. (And then again they could just annoy people in social etc. I guess they could make a cheat-district, that should be fine.)

If it's not gonna be displayed on the profile etc. I think LO could do whatever they want though and just ban based on the Steam ID (not URL/Name, you have an unique identifier that you can't change)

Wouldn't stop people from rerolling though. Creating a new Steam account is just as easy as doing a new G1 one... It might only scare people away from cheating on their mains.

I guess that would be good?

HWID bans were already in place with PB and will probably see a return with BE - issue is that they probably won't help much. Many cheats - no matter which game - include a HWID changer and even spoofing it "manually" should be no problem. I guess it would help against macro users who just use their mouse software or smth similar - and have no idea what they are doing but want to get an advantage - somehow.

(I think FF had a similar system? Not sure if they actually were like normal HWID bans but there you go. Issueing temporary IP bans (since most people have a dynamic one these days anyway) could help too - but yeah, 24h and they'd have a new one (or less if they just reset their connection...))
