That's an interesting idea... but then I just wondered, what if everyone was running around with 7-day leased Ogres? I guess you could make it cost a hefty amount of JTs though.

I am alread ypast my "need JT" part in APB, so I don't know whats currently possible to gather, but 700JT's for 7 days lease of a legendary should be ok?

BE is a literal rootkit, so yeah it's intrusive, and it's also a good indicator of how bad cheating has become when you'd rather have a rootkit on your PC than play against cheaters. I for one will be happy to let Bastian Suter have a look at all of my anime profile pics if it means I can play a cheater free vidya game.

he can't watch as much pr0n as BE could gather xD

Not trying to make money reselling legendaries, I just didn't like what I bought and wanted to sell it and get something else, but losing 200k or so was pretty steep, I'd have been fine losing some money but that was a lot

this could be solved by adding all JMB guns to the joker store so people can test them.

  4. I really hope the best, but honestly, they have underestimated a lot. in fact 3 things already:

The cheaters as visible in OP.

The ticket flood, which extended past their expectations.

And the forum behavior, which led them to delay the GM recruitment annoucnement.

Now I hope they have not underestimated the other technical parts of APB, especially in regards to the engine upgrade and serve rperformance/lag fixes.

    GL with the testing LO.

How exactly does it know if you used the GUI or manually changed it? Isn't the GUI just a way of automatically changing the same file? Please explain.

depends how BE can be implemented your OS does track quite a few thinsg about when and who alters a file. So there is that, that could reveal it. BE iss aid to be very intrusive, so it surely has ways (and will impelmented in ways) to figure out such simple things.

    btw

https://store.steampowered.com/eula/eula_113400 (if they are still the up to date ones)

" 3.1.3 modify the Game or any files forming part of the Game in any way not expressly authorized by Reloaded; "

so theres that we can use the AL because it was expressely authorised

Guess if you changed your key bindings you're gonna get banned for altering files. Don't change your resolution either. Gonna get banned.

yes could happen, its still a difference if those things get altered through the ingame or by any other user directly in the File, so yes it COULD happen, because you do stuff you aren't supposed to do.

    @SImilarities

if the client doesn't listen all consequences are his own fault, thats liek your warranty being gone because you opened your laptop within Warranty time which you were not supposed to do.

This is just how it works, and just because youc an open it and probably do undust it yourself, you never should do so, not if you expect warranty to stay for those 3 years.

Just because they have not enforced anythign before simply doesn't means they won't in a future. Thats the danger many might run into, And "but you never acted against it" isn't a workign excuse then.

As far as game development is concerned, trusting a client in any form with anything is bad, if you don't want the client tampering with things they're not supposed to be touching then make it clear by disallowing them to do so.

If you allow movement to be clientside, you better be prepared for cheaters to noclip.

If you allow ini files to be edited, you better be prepared for players to modify them if your game runs like absolute garbage.

If you decide that it's okay to be rebuilding the shader cache every time the game is launched, be prepared for players to modify shaders as they please.

Don't want people doing something? Don't give them the ability to do so. That's it.

I don't use shaders or anything as I actually like Little Orbit enough to listen to them when they say not to do something, I won't be using modified config files/localization files/shader files when BattlEye comes out, but if you allow people to do so with no repercussion, they will.

Thats still not the way it works, don't TOS say do not alter files? So there is your disallowance. if people still fiddle around with and get probably banned thats their own fault and claiming "but I cna edit it so it must be allowed" isn't going to help at all.

No. You're still wrong. The developers do not add every option into games for whatever reason but it doesn't mean they are against "always sprint" or "hold to crouch" or whatever else. Sometimes it can be an oversight.

Again, if they truly didn't want you to do it, it'd be locked. Obviously they don't care if you edit your APBinput.ini. Why would they?

Sorry but thats the wrong mindset and wrong logic, you are as a user not uspposed to do stuff outside the runnign application just because you do does not make it correct or your logic true.

You are incorrect. The developer can lock anything in the ini file to be edited. I've played games were the key bindings cannot be in change in the GUI and if you go to the ini edit, you're unable to change the key bindings there as well. If it's in the ini, it can be altered. If they really didn't want you to alter it, they'd lock it. Seems pretty simple to me.

being common =/= supposed to be done.

inis exist because devs can easily be adjusted without interacting in the code. What ini settings are supposed to be altered by the user is usually reachable trhough an ingame setting. Yes devs can lock them, but not locking them doesn't equal an allowance for the user to adjuts it at his will.

being able to =/= being allowed to =/= supposed to do

these 3 can have a connection but don't necessarily imply each other in any way.

  9. No, its the onyl money sink the game has.

however cars could indeed need some adjustment in their tax as opposed to symbols and music they aren't free to get and put in marketplace.

If g1 would remove the tax we all woudl just see prices skyrocketing due to inflation of money.

APB needs more large scale money sinks (Legendaries don't really fufill that purpose in my mind). Perhaps there needs to be more expensive items that could be purchasable in game? Maybe weapon skins and titles that cost a lot of in-game cash. Or even paying through the nose to trial Armas weapons.

There could also be a need to introduce more tradable commodities with finite quantities. Perhaps Little Orbit could run competitions for designing items, and then release those items as limited edition fashion items which can be traded.

Whatever they do I hope they at least reduce the ridiculous cost of refurbishing vehicles.

If statues would be like symbol boards people would buy them to place their avatars in districts, unfortunately they disappear and are only active in the one district you activate them. But they could be another money sink.

Really? If you can't be bothered to work towards the mods, just buy em off the market.

thats the problem with the rank 195 locked ones, all mods once wer elike rank 30 at max (iirc) and that is kinda fine, but when they made the new mods they slapped this high R195 requirement. I do also think it's time to remove that high rank requirement.

That's not how that works when you speedhack all you're doing is creating more movements per server frame and they're all being processed at once in the next server frame, it wouldn't add any extra stress and even if it did the amount would be minuscule at best. Cheaters do not add more stress to the servers than legitimate players, we all network the same info.

I am quite sure cheaters cause more traffic, I doubt our local games know the locations of ALL cars and all other characters at any time, so someone moving faster causes more information being trasnferred because he comes across more poeple and objects at the same time a regular person does.  Thats also the reason why car meetings screwed up the server performance, because suddnely more people at the same time in the same spot causing more updates at the same time. so the amount of items to be updated does matter and running across more items in the same time means updating more. How serve this more traffic is towards screwing up the server, thats somethign I am not sure about.

While merging everything into a single server sounds like a really bad idea to me (ping/latency), I support the idea of being able to switch freely between servers, as some mentioned above (even though right now, yeah not possible).

    I don't think so.

G1 did already merge servers, so merging does work. Creating one character masterserver where characters are stored would therefore work. and individual districts can run on local servers around the world.

AA has been in a terrible state for years. the downfall for that game is directly related to the content you partake in. but if there is OP guilds that dominate with having the most geared players in the top #100 pon the server. they faceroll events that is necessary to progressing faster. so you have either top geared players that are split between guilds or have a top geared zerg guild that do nothing but own every single event!

the motto of that game is the rich stay rich while the poor get poorer. if you have a monopoly of land in that game you pretty much are set to make fuck tons of gold. yet there still isn't a game that offers what AA has. Black desert has the combat portion figured out but doesn't have housing like it does in AA. and thus we come to APB. there isnt a game that offers what APB has all in the same package

thats liek most pvp events and pvp battlegroudns look in many MMO's because they are just badly designed.

if you were that individual, you are telling me to lock you up with those 100 evil people and throw away the key.

Who said that the available status is being locked away WITH them and have the key thrown away. thats a very fishy result.

But in the end, how muich would it differ if those 100 people Life aroudn you and your family where they can still pose a threat to you (which is similar to be locked away with them) but also your family relatives and friends? The only difference is "hope", the hope that this stuff won't happen to your and your family, because gladly the world is rather big. But it doesn't negates the threat, it just lowers the chance for you as an individual. But not overall across the society.

"Malleus Maleficarum" Let's start the witch-hunt already.

Anyways,  comparing a misbehavior in a video game with murdering irl...meh.

well the quote was a generalisation so it has general meaning which would just not end at "misbehavior" it would even go as far as murder.

And yet what you call just "misbehavior" is a companies buisness beeing impacted negatively and can even ruin a game and the company + the living that the employees make out of their job at that company.

This kind of cheating differs a lot from a player just cheatind and ruining his own singleplayer experience. And APB has not just  a few cheater, remember the list of 200names they gavem, and how they said the real number is serveral times as big? https://apbreloaded.gamersfirst.com/2014/07/fighting-fair-in-apb-reloaded-with.html

cheaters have a big part in what ruined APB and affected the employees as well. Their impact went much further than just misbehavior. Their only advantage is that yet cheating and impacting companies buisness is no real crime and too hard to track and punish.

there's a reason those settings aren't hard coded into the game and a settings file 'ini' exists.

and there is also a reason why some of these values are not adjustable by the GUI, because they are not usuually supposed to be changed by the user
