Actually faced a cheater on Jericho...
Kylegrey2 replied to CookiePuss's topic in General Discussion Archive
I ran into a player yesterday who seemed to be wallhacking too. Knew where i was coming from everytime and was prefiring every time. One of the most suspicious rounds ive played in ages... clearly most people beng accused are just better than the accuser but that doesnt mean there are no cheaters. -
Are you planning on fixing the FPS issue soon?
Kylegrey2 replied to Parthian's topic in General Discussion Archive
Theres no amount of tweaking that will completely fix the performance issues... ive tried them all. As stated above, the issue is that this game performs poorly on multicore cpu's. I have an above average gaming rig and can hadle every game i throw at it, including a huge library of oculus titles. They need to optimize the game for modern hardware. -

Sounds good but theory and practice are 2 different things. After years of gittery gun fights, im not entirely convinced... we will see. -

So ive been told... seems like a pretty big flaw considering where cpu technology is headed. They might want to do something about that. Shouldnt have to downgrade to a single core just to play an ancient game. I wonder if the engine upgrade will have any beneficial effect in that regard. -

This game always stutters for me during up close firefights which is the worst time for a game to stutter and lag. Ironically, this only became a consistent problem after upgrading my core 2 duo. Have had many upgrades since then... running a 6 core cpu and it plays like garbage. Hence my use of an opgl. This is the only game that bottlenecks my cpu. -
June 2019 - Next Steps with RIOT

I havnt even had a chance to try riot. Theres never enough people in the district. Maybe thats a sign that it should be scrapped... -
I think it looks fantastic. The only concern i have is will it run smoother? The ddos issues have been improved quite a bit and i thank you for that. But if the game continues to run poorly after the upgrade i will be dissapointed. I have a modern system that greatly exceeds the games system requirements yet it ran better on my old pentium 4 system... keep up the good work. Fingers crossed.

Cautiously optimistic... we will see.

Intermittent Jericho connectivity / outages
Kylegrey2 replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
I get maybe 2-3 hours a week where i can get in some apb time. i dont know if im just unlucky but 2 out of 3 times, laggy unplayable servers are what i get. Its incredibly frustrating. At this point, server lag is the deal breaker for me. Im not sure you fully understand how unplayable the game gets... Enough excuses already because there really isnt a valid excuse for this anymore. Its been going on far too long. I was right. Laggy... -

Lol no worries. Im old enough that i actually had a commodore 64 when they were still being produced so i cant tell when im being trolled. I always take the bait . Game runs perfect when the servers are running well. Not upgrading for apb again lol. -

Lol dont troll me like that There was a time when i was running some weak hardware. I upgraded because everyone told me my pc was a potato and that was why apb wasnt running well for me. To my great disappointment 1500 bucks later, i still had issues... when the servers are running properly, its smooth as silk but lately everytime i play, the servers go haywire for everyone at the same time. The whole district empties out in no time. I love apb. There is no replacing it. Believe me, ive tried. I just want to see the server issues taken care of so we can all enjoy it the way we were meant to. -

That is a piss poor excuse that ive heard more than once. i find it absurd you would even make that assumption. I live in a major city, have a 300mbps fibe connection, have a modern computer that can play AAA games released this year with zero lag or fps issues. i crush every game i play including oculus games but youre telling me i need a better computer and connection to play a game released in 2010? Get real dude. Get real. -

I love that you guys are working hard to make things happen but lets get real for a second. Every single time i play, the servers lag so hard. The game is litterally unplayable. How this is not a top priority for LO is mind boggling. All the content and new game modes in the world wont improve the game nor will it improve the population if your servers are consistently crumbling around us. And ddos is not a valid excuse. Every other game developer out there deals with the same server issues yet somehow manages to keep things running smooth. Im happy that you guys communicate with us, but at times it feels like a one sided conversation. Server and game performance should be the top prority. All this talk about riot and engine upgrades dont distract from the frustration of trying to play a game i love unsuccessfully due to consistent server and performance issues. Thats all i want to hear about at this point. Riot means nothing when the base game is almost never playable. Regards -
This is apb... if you want to play a game that doesnt run like a Windows98 slideshow, play literally any other game ever made.
-
After so many years of being jerked around about the engine upgrade, i would say that should be top priority. Next on the list should be weeding out server/ddos issues. I would have put that first but lets be honest, we're all used to the laggy glitchy teleporting mess that is apb.

I got this message when i opened an email with joker tickets. The tickets disappeared and the email looks empty but i cant delete the email because it says there are attachments. i have 2 emails like which that are undeletable yet appear empty. I also didnt get the joker tickets that were attached, which is pretty lame...

Yeah seems like rubberbanding and big lag spikes arent nearly as frequent as before. Keep it up and hopefully this game will start performing the way it should.

G1 processing cc payments as cash withdrawals
Kylegrey2 replied to Kylegrey2's topic in General Discussion Archive
I think it was after after the 100g1c per $1. It was on the 4th of July. I got what I paid for and was happy until I got the 5$ cash advance charge from visa. When you consider Canadian to american exchange rate, federal and provincial sales tax and now a 5$ cash advance fee, its more like 1.63$ Canadian for 100g1c. -
G1 processing cc payments as cash withdrawals
Kylegrey2 posted a topic in General Discussion Archive
Ive already sent an email to support but decided to to post here so everyone is aware. I bought 20$ worth of g1c with my Visa credit card. I was charged 27.71$ on my card (exchange rate and taxes I assume account for the extra cost). However I was also charged an additional 5$ in cash withdrawal fees by Visa for the purchase. Obviously making an online purchase is not the same thing as making a cash withdrawal. I spoke to Visa and was told that due to the way g1 processes their payments as a "quasi cash withdrawal" I was charged an additional 5$ in fees. Im really not happy that I was charged this additional 5$ without being warned in advance. Over 32$ for 20$ of g1c is really not worth it. I dont like being nickel and dimed in this way and dont think I will be buying anymore just out of principle. So just a heads up for anyone planing on buying g1c with their credit card, the payment is processed by g1 as a cash withdrawal and you will be charged additional fees by your credit card company as a result. -
Ive noticed the game runs way smoother with intel cpu's as oppose to amd. My old core 2 duo with budget gpu runs it better than my 6 core amd with an r7 370 gpu. My i5 laptop with integrated gpu runs it better too. Yet somehow, my amd rig runs every single other game flawlessly. With my amd, the game gets better fps than my intel systems but with constant stutters and frame dips. APB is just mysterious that way...
-
New servers might help the lag but the real problem is the game itself... its poorly optimized and has only gotten worse over the years with all the patches. Back in the RTW days I used to play this on a core 2 duo with a budget gpu, 2gb ram and a 5400 rpm hdd. I now have a 6 core amd fx 6350, an r7 370 gpu, 8gb ram and a solid state drive and it runs worse than ever...

Clarification on Fight Club comments
Kylegrey2 replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Please dont kill fight club. For vets with max rank, its all we have left. -
You people just need to learn how to deal with explosives instead of crying to LO about it. Whats next, no percs, no cars, no shotguns... The game is fine, you need to adapt if explosives are such a challenge.
