This Engine Upgrade should hopefully help with fixing most problems.

Do not forget that Little Orbit will be doing another Engine Upgrade  after this to a better version than this one will be.

Clearly steps in the right direction with actual promises of movement forward kept.

the "switch" to UE4 is in no way comparable to this

For this project, they're updating the underlying core of the game - it's still going to be Unreal Engine 3

The UE4 switch, assuming it'll ever happen, will basically be APB2. They'll have to rebuild everything from scratch

last i checked csgo has pretty predictable recoil patterns, especially compared to apb

CSGO weapons have predictable recoil patterns, but they also always have some inherent spread, which worsens on the move - so even while standing perfectly still there will be minor deviation to your shots (though it's irrelevant for anything past extreme ranges)

I love everything about current ntec. It forces you to learn its mechanics, and it is high skill - high reward weapon. I dont use it tho, I prefer cqc weapons, and FAR instead of NTEC. NTEC is in great spot and it should not be touched by any buffs / nerfs or changes.

If I get it right, you are complaining that you cant handle its mechanics. Just go and practice more.

You did not get it right 🙂

A major issue with curve mechanics is that the current position along the curve is not communicated well, if at all - it's part of the reason why they had to buff the SWARM to follow the predetermined sway pattern for a lot more shots, because you, a player WITHOUT debug tools, can't quite tell if you've recovered enough to take advantage of predictable recoil (in the case of SWARM) or avoid bloom exploding (in the case of the NTEC)

The raptor tries to avoid this by using the Speaker icon on the HUD, and it's one of the few, if not the only time the mechanic is comunicated properly

People are angry at N-Tecs, ATACs and you have nerve to actually advocate the reverse of nerf.

ARs are so bizzare nowadays that in some cases they are more accurate than smgs on their own close distance and recover better than some distance snipers in long range.

the curve based bloom nerfs were asinine so I can get behind this feeling

it was openly stated by Little Orbit as well as the community that it is not time for weapon balancing because of the difficulty and lack of expertise on this matter

you do not diffuse a bomb with a novice unless you have a will made out for next of kin.

But you do want to try and defuse a bomb - there's a difference between losing a couple experts to a botched defusal attempt vs losing hundreds of people to an uncontrolled explosion.

Those are still relatively bad though, and nowhere near useful enough to replace a bunch of other guns.

The S1-FA won't become another N-TEC unless they drastically buff it, as it has one more shot to kill.

the S1-FA is pretty much a 7stk NTEC , even the TTK is similar, and that's the problem

It sucks at range which is the only niche where the NTEC can dominate since it has godawful hipfire

Eh. Last thing I need is not having any good option for pointsman weapon right now.

You took away my CSG, now you propose to take away OCA?

I am actually proposing to give you back the CSG

Tbh, some weapons needs to get re-balance, (semi weapons) maybe. But rebalancing few weapons always have side effect on making other weapon OP. Dats why whole rebalance action should be taked very slow and careful.

There are a few weapons that are a bit too good and a few that are a bit too bad

If they start taking small baby steps in balancing we're gonna be one small baby step closer to a more varied meta. There is no need to completely rework weapon categories - this only results in a balancing clustertruck

  7. Due to APB's competitive nature, it is important for the game to be well balanced, with no item or weapon being clearly superior to another.

This is currently not the case for a good chunk of weapons - Some are woefully underpowered, while others dominate their range bracket.

Following the recent shotgun changes, Little Orbit has seemingly abandoned all weapon balancing efforts, possibly in hopes of not angering the community further.
While I sympathize with the mindset that led to this approach, this is not a healthy way to go on about it - and has in fact caused more harm than good.

While the pellet scaling changes were great, the stats given to some shotguns have led to them being underwhelming (e.g. JG, CSG) or extremely annoying to fight against (NFAS, DOW)
Some very good changes (OCA TTK nerf on OTW) were also never pushed to the live servers, contributing to some weapons being further cemented as the best option

LO has not communicated at all on the topic of weapon balance ever since.

There are a lot of small changes that could contribute towards a much more varied meta, but if all of them are being put on the backburner indefinitely (as far as we know), at least let us know!
