  1. There isn't much to discuss when it comes to the efficiency of anti cheat software in gaming. They're only as good as the cheats they detect, and the ones they dont, go "unnoticed" regardless of what actually happens in the game.

Answering your main point: "What if BE is not enough?". Relying on one anti cheat alone is never enough, anti cheat software in general can never keep up with the rate cheats get created or changed, they only die down because cheat makers get bored of the game and no one is interested in even playing the game. You could pick any popular game across all the anti cheats and there will be cheats for it based on its popularity, if there was any game truly that difficult to cheat in it would have become the industry standard a long time ago.

Stacking anti cheats is usually the next option, having more hoops to jump through/ different ways to detect cheats can make it more difficult but is still not a closed hole.

Theoretically a behavior based anti cheat would be the highest efficiency anti cheat possible, but we're still in the infancy stages of having those sorts of anti cheats developed. We already have our own "behavioral" anti cheats in our mind when we see a player snapping between three targets. Something like that which is automated is definitely possible, when we'll see it in place is another discussion altogether.

Having personnel actively monitor districts is only a short term solution. At some point people will just tone down the cheats to the point where a staff member who barely plays the game will be able to understand what is happening and action will stop.  It doesn't hurt to try and help curb the cheating population but its not something that should be given a lot of valuable resources for an extended period of time.

Given the nature of the anti cheat industry right now, really the thing to do when an anti cheat is not enough is to "wait for a breakthrough" or "wait for a better one".

you'll never be able to "seal off" every possible way to cheat when theres someone on the outside poking new holes, even if the entire game was only visually streamed to your device from the apb servers im sure there would still be some exploits

being a cheat coder is a job just like being an apb dev is a job, the only difference i see is that the cheat coder is devoted entirely to cheating whereas the apb dev has to maintain a balance - focus too much on cheaters and the game stagnates, focus too much on the game and cheaters run rampant

Actually there is a reason why there are no HP/Spread/Fire rate hacks, because they're server sided. If the whole game was server side it would mean you would have to get into the actual servers before you can even do anything remotely like cheating. If the game was like that though the user experience would be the worst thing in the world, worse than some early access games.

Usually rule of thumb is that getting around server sided features is 1000 times worse than its worth. Which is why you never saw any real "fairfight bypass". Even when a cheat maker could make cheats in APB before they would have no idea if they were under the radar because everything was calculated on the server. Unlike client side anti cheats which once you've bypassed the anti cheat to get in the game and you're not banned within the hour you're more than likely clear till the next update (if you know what youre doing).

As i said i see no point in playing with 'good looking' textures, this is not that beauty of a game. This is not a montage, just clips rendered together and i prefer low graphics and fps. High textures are distracting me.

The whole point of making a video and advertising it to everyone is for other people to watch. They arent playing so they wont be getting distracted, the better the game looks the more people will be interested watching your video.

Multiple people have tried explaining that the First Amendment doesn't work this way on other threads. At that point I came to the conclusion that either he was ignoring every reply, is in denial or a is a straight up troll.

    Definitely straight up ignoring everything.

Read the part about private stuff i said in the post you quoted. They are going as far as nullify anything even in the streets because its "private". More like "pirate".

Except this whole image says nothing about when you break the rules. It doesnt matter who/what/when/where/why or how a platform is hosted a private business has the right to enforce censorship.

There is a time and place for "freedom of speech" but doing it in someones kitchen even when told "no" is still against the rules no matter how badly you want people to listen to you.

Regardless of what rights we have, people still have the right to refuse yours given the right circumstances. Whether you think its right or not.

Abiding by rules is not being anti freedom.

"The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees Freedom of Speech. This guarantee generally safeguards the right of individuals to express themselves without governmental restraint. Nevertheless, the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment is not absolute. It has never been interpreted to guarantee all forms of speech without any restraint whatsoever. Instead, the U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that state and federal governments may place reasonable restrictions on the time, place, and manner of individual expression. Time, place, and manner (TPM) restrictions accommodate public convenience and promote order by regulating traffic flow, preserving property interests, conserving the environment, and protecting the administration of justice."

APB uses a bayesian modified version of the glicko system... its pretty standard stuff.

The real problem is, most APB players actually have no clue how threat is calculated.

Mostly because no one outside of internal game staff know the variables.

Like knowing what can get an anti cheat to ban you.

The only way to reach top tier threat in a system based on time would be to be a social afk'r.

It does BXNNXD, ya, its a lot more complicated then explained here, but it is the basics. I've set up enough ARMA 3 servers and having to set up battleye enough times to know that this is the basics a regular player would want to kno.

You could find more actual information on the wikipedia page.

The first comment showed that the OP had no idea what they were talking about in the first place. First mistake was assuming BE works the same on every game its used on.

Great video. One thing I would add and you kind of hinted at it in the video is don't spend too long making killer skin straight onto the clothing. Doing it on the symbol can take a bit longer due to trial and improvement but in the end you can use it again and again.

Thats true. I always try and make my symbols/clothing as easy as possible to apply which normally involves making a large symbol instead of piecing it together on the clothing itself. Another thing is that symbols made in the editor will keep their quality better than piecing them together on the clothing itself.

Good tutorial. It always surprises me how many veterans don't know how to make skin on clothes for outfits, but yah. Good video dude.

I believe he is saying he is paranoid about being banned from people not liking him and how many false "team watch' reports happen lately from a misuse of the /report feature we had.
You are not the only one paranoid.
Many feel the same way from bronzes and silvers misusing the report feature just for being killed and how many false bans happened.
that is why I am so happy about Battleeye being added to APB since it is one of the top anti cheats.
It helps prove our innocence while it works on those who are not.
No game currently or since a long time ago solely uses reports as a real system to judge players. Only games or servers that have no anti cheat support.

Game companies know how easily reports can be misused which is why they get anti cheats in the first place.

I used to have that paranoia of getting "Randomly Banned" I've never been banned in any other game in my life and G1 at the time was banning left right and center Trying to silence free speech and it felt like it's not only cheaters getting banned. Since LO took over my stress has gone down and then the blog post where mat went on to say "banning someone is not something to broadcast and is a failure because it means we lost a player" put's my mind at ease.

I say stress gone down because no matter how magnificent Matt's beard is (and it is quite Magnificent that's why i login to apb everyday) I will still feel like i could wake up 1 day and just be banned without ever really knowing why. At the very least my forum account won't be banned so i can still contribute from the grave.

And no if i got banned i wouldn't make another account i would never login again.

Bruh. This forum is not a public forum neither was it a public forum when G1 was in control.
    This is a private forum.
Rules are created and applied for a reason.

  10. I spent at least 7 hours in baylan A. I didnt use that many of the changed guns.

Cobra: Felt a lot better and was closer to before the last changes with being able to tap fire longer ranges but Baylan A Cobra could be used in CQC a lot easier. Even without mods.
Misery: The extra damage did make it a little better, it would still need mods to be viable against other guns with mods. Didnt have any problem going toe to toe with other unmodded weapons.

JG: Some of the pre modded ones seemed to be the same as live versions?
Showstopper: It felt like players were given another 6 shots to their shot guns. Promoted corner popping gameplay way too much for its damage output up close.

Marksman mode on shotguns seemed to be worse than the current live versions, dunno if that was intended but being able to easily hipfire 15m+ kills and then marksman mode doing basically nothing it felt a bit weird to say the least.

Overall: Shotguns felt like the new HVR. If you didnt have a shotgun you were going to be outgunned easily in short to short-mid ranges.

My last thoughts would be that shotguns are not that bad currently and dont need this change.
The main reason for this is that the only issue shotguns have now is hit reg (but so does everything else). Even while being in Baylan A with rarely an 90% full district i was still experiencing hit reg problems across all guns that i used at some point or another.

These changes basically felt like they circumvented the issues with the servers to make getting kills with shotguns easier than they need to be.
