i got bored so i wondered what guns were made that were considered the worst in history.

too lazy to come up with good search term but this website seems to have a decent amount of weapons to laugh at.

Not sure about some of the guns on that list, especially the M14, but it's a deece start. Here are my contributions of what comes to mind off of the top of my head.

TL;DR, it's a single shot "open bolt" shotgun (except it has no bolt, the barrel moves back onto the shell.)

The French Sho-Sho
 The Chauchat is the only full-automatic weapon actuated by long recoil, a Browning-designed system already applied in 1906 to the Remington Model 8 semi-automatic rifle: extraction and ejection of the empties takes place when the barrel returns forward, while the bolt is retained in the rear position. The failure of its limited version in U.S. 30-06 (the Mle 1918) have led some modern experts to assess it as the "worst machine gun" ever fielded in the history of warfare.[2][3][4] However the weapon did remain in active service for over two years during the First World War, was the most widely issued fully automatic light machine gun of that conflict and remained in service after the war ended with several armies.

Learned this from a Vietnam Vet some 25 years ago.  Long before Wiki or History channel did it. 

  In Nam unless you were on the front line or on mission, you were not armed. But it was the rule if you left the base on pass to the town, you had to be armed. They would have you check out a 45...so the armorer also had left over sho-shos that were used by the French.
    So he went thru three or four 45.s n none of em could be Racked, they were stuck shut, n they wouldn't spare m-14 or 16s. so he checked out a sho sho every time he went to town.   I later saw a show by the bullet headed bald guy on History confirming that it was THEEE worst weapon fielded by a military to date. But They said you could take it apart and make a still out of it..
    One of the problems with the sho-sho was it was cheaply made stamped metal, n was manufactured by several armorers, resulting in parts that could not be interchanged from one gun to another, it also had a ported cut out magazine so you could see the amount of bullets you had, this also let in mud n debris. So if the weapon functioned it would jam easy.

yeah. just the thought of being in a warzone using a weapon that has a higher risk of not operating normally is terrifying...
