Texture Resolution For Cars

With PCs becoming more powerful and the average power of PCs increasing too, can we expect any changes to the resolution of cars. If I am correct cars in APB have a 1024x1024 Diffuse/Specular map and a 512x512 normal map. This hasn't changed since the release of the game and I would love to see these textures going from 1024x1024 to 2048x2048. With the introduction of the engine update there should be a performance increase, can we expect a texture resolution boost too?

This would be a welcoming change. APBs textures in itself are still fine, but cars and certain clothing items are horrible to look at, especially the interiors of cars.

Yeah the interior only uses about a 256x256 which is unheard of really.

Which is funny since the default APBCompat.ini goes up towards ~8192 (or 4096). While the game does not support that texture size, it does lower the performance of the game.

APB absolutely needs up to 4k textures, just sayin'.

 

(8k would be nice, but not necessary ATM.)

i'd welcome if we could have higher textures for various aspects of the game, at choice.

 

Specially now that i can handle some of those vs the hardware that was available before.

Its mostly due to compression.

 

If G1 didn't compress APB the textures would look much better than they appear now. G1 did not think ahead and thought APB as some 2004 video game and didn't realize how quickly computers and internet speeds would upgrade and opted for compressing the game files into a smaller size, completely ruining a lot of the textures.

The compression might not help, but using a 1024x1024 texture for something the size of a car is pretty low, changing it to 2048x2048 will give 4x more pixels to work with.
