Weapon Modification Guide

Recommended Posts

Nox made a weapon modification guide a while ago, but I wanted to make a new one and update it. There are some weapons here I haven't tried yet, this guide is a a combination of my knowledge and other players. Please offer some support and your opinions and I will update it as I go along.

 

Thank you to Yeedman, Cookypuss, Flaws and Rikard, SteamAnimator, Noxious and Moki for their guides and assistance with creating this guide.

 

Legendaries are highlighted in yellow.

Unfinished is highlighted in red. (Please give advice for these weapons as I haven't used them yet)

 

Assault Rifles:


STAR 556:

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3,  3-Point Sling or even none at all
Optional mods: Tagger, 3-Point Sling, Mobility Sling

Why: The STAR 556 is great without modifications, but can also benefit from both Hunting Sight 3 and Improved Rifling 3 if you want to tap fire. Be wary that you will lose close range capabilities if you choose to mod this weapon, as the modifications will force you to use marksmanship mode.

 

NTEC 5 (inc. Joker CR5, Agrotech VAS R-2 and Scoped NTEC):
Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Heavy Barrel 2, Tagger, Magazine Pull 3, Extended Magazine 3, Bandolier 3

Why: Hunting Sight 3 and Improved Rifling 3 are a must. If you like to full auto, you could also use Long Range Rifling, but considering the fast tap fire of this weapon, you're better off going for the usual meta of Hunting Sight 3 and Improved Rifling 3. With the recent changes to NTEC, Heavy Barrel 2 is also an option.Any blue modification will be down to how much you intend to fire or reload.

 

Raptor 45 'Hawk' or 'Vulture'
Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3

Optional mods: Cooling Jacket 2/3

Why: This weapon benefits greatly from marksmanship mode, and the increased accuracy with marksmanship mode will make sure that you get your target every time. You can full auto with this weapon if you wish, as it is meant to take down opponents in a hail of bullets. Tap firing is unnecessary. If you want to fight up close and personal and speed up your Time to Kill (TTK) put a Cooling Jacket on it.

 

ATAC 424 'JT3' 'Watchman' 'Patroller' 'Bodyguard' or 'Mercenary':

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, Long Range Rifling 3, Mobility Sling,  3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Tagger, Cooling Jacket 2/3,

Why: The ATAC is a great weapon for laying down midrange fire. The Long Range Rifling helps control the fire rate of the weapon, meaning you can choose to full auto while losing less accuracy. Improved Rifling 3 is amazing if you want to keep the fire rate and get targets that are further away and Mobility Sling will allow you to strafe while fighting opponents. Due to the range, it doesn't benefit as greatly from Cooling Jacket as say an SMG would. Unsure of which one to pick? Get the 'JT3' so you can change mods, or 'Patroller'.


STAR LCR 'Old Glory' or 'PR2':

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Cooling Jacket 2, Mobility Sling ('Old Glory')
Optional mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3 ('PR2')

Why: The 'Old Glory' is exceptional for laying down suppressive fire and bullying opponents. If you wish to get this weapon, get this version over the 'PR2' as the Mobility Sling will keep you moving during heated gunfights and the Cooling Jacket will speed up your TTK.

 

FAR 'Vanguard' or 'Spearhead':

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, Long Range Rifling, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Extended Magazine 3

Why: This weapon is for tap-firing. If you want to do some full auto and go against convention, use Long Range Rifling. Otherwise, just keep your distance, point and click. Extended Magazine isn't essential, but it can be nice if you want a little more in your stocking.

 

COBR-A 'Venom' or 'Adder':

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Cooling Jacket 3, Magazine Pull, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Reflex Sight 1/2, Long Range Rifling

Why: This weapon is a hip-fire god. You want this for getting in your opponent's face with the occasional tap fire. Hunting Sight is recommended, but if you intend to use this up close feel free to opt for no sight at all or Reflex Sight

 

Raptor 45 'Condor' :

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3
Optional mods: None

Why: Hunting Sight 3 is the perfect combination for this weapon. If you fire in short bursts, you'll stay off of the radar and opponents will have a hard time finding you. That extra zoom is paramount for getting your man.

 

NTEC-7c 'New Glory':

Recommended mods: Improved Rifling 3, Long Range Rifling, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Cooling Jacket 2

Why: Improved Rifling will give you that extra range you need to finish off opponents. You can opt for Cooling Jacket 2 if you're in tight spaces and want to hip fire and finish a fight quickly.

 

NTEC-7 'Ursus':

Recommended mods: Improved Rifling 3, Improved Rifling 3, Long Range Rifling
Optional mods: Long Range Rifling

Why: 

 

S1-FA 'Frenzy':

Recommended mods:

Why: 

 

Agrotech ACES Rifle:

Recommended mods:
Optional mods:

Why: 

 

AR-97 'Misery':

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, Long Range Rifling, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: N/A

Why:  This weapon fires slowly and has a lot of bloom. If you want to slow down the fire rate, use Long Range Rifling, otherwise Improved Rifling 3 is your friend.

 

ISSR-a JT3, PR3 'Artemis', N-ISSR-A:

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Long Range Rifling, Mobility Sling, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Cooling Jacket 3

Why: This weapon may sound quiet, but it doesn't have a built in silencer like the other ISSR iterations. This weapon has quite a deceptive range and you will want to take advantage of it to finish off your opponents.

 

LMGs:

 

ALIG 762 (inc. CASE 'BOLO' 'The KO':
Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Cooling Jacket 3 or Improved Rifling 3, Magazine Pull, 3-Point Sling

Optional mods; 3-Point Sling, Heavy Barrel 2

Why: This weapon is a vehicle killer. The Cooling Jacket 3 speeds up TTK and makes it faster to blow up cars at the cost of range and accuracy, but who needs accuracy when you have a secondary? Magazine Pull speeds up the reload time immensely, and for a weapon with a 75 bullet magazine, what's there to lose by only having 60? Heavy Barrel isn't so necessary on this weapon nowadays as the spread has been decreased substantially, so aim for something which maintains the power output.

 

SHAW 556:

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, Muzzle Break (Vertical), 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Magazine Pull 3

Why: This weapon has a lot of spread and is fast firing, you need to fire it from a braced position (crouched and not moving) to get the most out of it.


NSSW-7:

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, Muzzle Break (Vertical), 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: , Heavy Barrel 2/3, Long Range Rifling, Magazine Pull 3

Why:

 

SWARM 'Killer Bee', 'Locust', 'Swarm':

Recommended mods: Muzzle Break (Horizontal), 3-Point Sling

Optional mods:

Why:


Shotguns:

 

JG 840, 940, 1040 or 1140:
Recommended mods: Improved Rifling 3, 3-Point Sling, Magazine Pull
Optional mods: 

Why: Reflex Sight 3 does nothing to this weapon, you'll want the extra range and fast reload.

 

NFAS-12:

Recommended mods: Improved Rifling 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: 

Why: This weapon has a very short range but is fast firing, you'll need IR3 if you hope to get a kill with it as its damage output as of right now is quite weak.

 

Shredder 'DF PR3' 'EB PR3' or 'R&D III':

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Magazine Pull 3, Improved Rifling 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Cooling Jacket 2/3

Why: This weapon greatly benefits from marksmanship mode, but it reloads very slowly and fires slowly too. Improved Rifling 3 makes the weapon better for midrange and the Hunting Sight makes you more accurate. Cooling Jacket isn't so necessary for this one.

 

SG-21 'Strife' JT1 or JT3:
Recommended Mods: Improved Rifling 3, Cooling Jacket 3, Magazine Pull 3, 3-Point Sling

Optional Mods:

Why: This weapon is brutal, but it fires very slowly. If you want to get faster kills, put a Cooling Jacket 3 on there, otherwise aim to be as accurate as possible. This is a one-hit kill, but if you manage to find yourself missing shots, you'll be punished for it.

 

RHD LS1 'Corsair':

Recommended mods: Reflex Sight 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Magazine Pull 3

Why: 

 

NFAS-12 'True Ogre':

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling
Optional mods:

Why:

 

Colby CSG-20 (inc Joker TAS20):

Recommended mods: Improved Rifling 3, Magazine Pull 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Extended Magazine, Tagger

Why: The mods for these weapons are pre-selected, so choose based on what is most important to you. Improved Rifling 3 is a godsend for shotguns, so go for the PR1, PR2, Or TAS20 Stock.

 

DOW 'Thumper'

Recommended mods: Magazine Pull 3, 3-Point Sling, Mobility Sling
Optional mods: Extended Magazine 3

Why: This weapon is best fired up close, aiming down the sights is not recommended except for getting a far away opponent. Losing access to red mods (Cooling Jacket 3, Improved Rifling 3) means that you need to aim to control the reload time, ammo available and mobility.

 

DOW NFCP 2:

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling, Reflex Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, Cooling Jacket 3
Optional mods: Mobility Sling

Why: This weapon performs weaker than its legendary variant, but the increase in range on Improved Rifling 3 is a godsend if you wish to use it. If you want to finish a fight faster, use Cooling Jacket 3.

 

Semi-Automatic Rifles:


Obeya CR762 (inc Obeya SLR762 'Spartan', Obeya SLR762 'Hoplite':

Recommended mods: Long Range Rifling, Cooling Jacket 3, Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Tagger, Magazine Pull 3

Why: A faster fire rate will kill faster, at the cost of reduced range. This weapon already has monstrous range so you have nothing to lose if you choose to opt for Improved Rifling 3 instead of Cooling Jacket 3.

 

OSCAR

Recommended mods: Cooling Jacket 3, Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Tagger, Magazine Pull 3

Why: A faster fire rate will kill faster, at the cost of reduced range. This weapon already has monstrous range so you have nothing to lose if you choose to opt for Improved Rifling 3 instead of Cooling Jacket 3.

 

Joker SR15 Carbine (including STAC 10)

Recommended mods: Improved Rifling 3, Cooling Jacket 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Cooling Jacket 2, Reflex Sight 1/2

Why: A faster fire rate will kill faster, at the cost of reduced range. This weapon already has monstrous range so you have nothing to lose if you choose to opt for Improved Rifling 3 instead of Cooling Jacket 3.


High Velocity Rifles:

 

N-HVR 243 (inc PSR 'Kite' R&D III, PSR 'Harrier' R&D III):

Recommended mods: Cooling Jacket 3, 3-Point Sling, Hunting Sight 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Tagger

Why: This weapon fires slowly, but it is a two shot kill guaranteed. You'll want that increased fire rate as it doesn't affect the bloom. 3-Point Sling is perfect if you like to tap with a secondary and switch to a primary. Most legendary versions of this weapon include a Tagger, which is great if you want to strike fear into your opponents before sending them to an icy grave.

 

Agrotech DMR-AV:

Recommended mods: Cooling Jacket 3, Hunting Sight 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods:

Why: This one's a little weaker than the N-HVR but if you can get that extra zoom in marksmanship mode, you're in for a good time.


Rocket Launchers:

 

OSMAW:

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling, Bandolier 3
Optional mods:

Why: 

 

AAEPD 'Volcano JC':

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling
Optional mods:

Why: 


Grenade Launchers:

 

O-PGL 79R:

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling

EOL 'The Hammer' Mk4:

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling, Bandolier 3

EOL 'Kickback' Mk4:

Why: This iteration has a 3 mag capacity. So if you want to reload a little faster, feel free to put a Magazine Pull on it.

 

EOL 'Deep Impact' Mk4:

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling, Bandolier 3
Optional mods: 

Why:

 

Submachine Guns:

 

OCA-EW 626 (inc. Joker C9 'Hornet' and 'Wasp', PDW-57 'Stiletto' 'Kris' and 'Dagger', 'Whisper') :

Recommended mods: Reflex Sight 3, Cooling Jacket 3, Magazine Pull 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Improved Rifling 3, Extended Magazine 3, Bandolier 3

Why: This weapon benefits immensely from Cooling Jacket 3. It doesn't affect the bloom, Reflex Sight 3 is always a nice staple. If you're using a 1-slot, just use Cooling Jacket 3.

 

Colby PMG 28 (inc. CBMP-45 'Bolt', 'Hush', 'Murmur',:

Recommended mods: Improved Rifling 3, Reflex Sight 3, Magazine Pull 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Bandolier 3, Extended Magazine 3, Cooling Jacket 2/3

Why: This weapon is better placed for long range SMG warfare. If you tap fire, you can clip enemies deceptively who are further away. The Improved Rifling 3 is a godsend for this.

 

Agrotech ACES:

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling
Optional mods:

Why: 

 

Colby M-1922:

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight 3, Improved Rifling 3, Cooling Jacket 3, Mobility Sling, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Extended Magazine 3, Magazine Pull 3, Bandolier 3

Why: This weapon fires incredibly fast and requires you to be braced, so marksmanship and ideally stood still. If you want more bullets, add an extended magazine, if you want less, add magazine pull.

 

Obeya CAP 40 'Sergeant':

Recommended mods: Cooling Jacket 3, Reflex Sight 3, 3-Point Sling
Optional mods: Mobility Sling

Why: This weapon is armor piercing, but fires slowly. Cooling Jacket 3 helps bring it up to speed with other SMGs.

 

VAS C2 'Entente', 'Tin Soldier', 'Troublemaker':

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling
Optional mods:

Why: 

 

S1-NA 'Manic':

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling
Optional mods:

Why: 

 

H-9 'Curse':

Recommended mods: 3-Point Sling

Norseman 'Hel', 'Tyr', 'Hoenir':

Why: This is a standard weapon for CQC and the first one you get. Practice with it well and you'll be right as rain.

 

Showstopper:

Recommended mods: N/A
Optional mods: N/A

Why: N/A

 

Colby .45 AP:

Recommended mods: N/A
Optional mods: N/A

Why: N/A

 

Colby RSA 'Hunter':

Recommended mods: Hunting Sight, Tagger
Optional mods: N/A

Why: The Colby is a long range firearm. Slow firing, but accurate and punishing. Make sure to have plenty of cover in case you get sniped.

 

Mountie 'Northwest' 'Nunavut':

Recommended mods: 'Nunavut' if you need more bullets, 'Northwest' if you don't care.
Optional mods:

Why: The Mountie is a full auto firing pistol. 

 

Joker RFP-9 'Fang' 'Talon' 'Comanche':

Recommended mods: 'Talon' if you value stealth, 'Fang' if you want to get extra range and 'Comanche' if you need extra bullets.
Optional mods:

Why: The RFP is a delicate weapon. It used to be a laser so it's been nerfed, but using it can be quite awkward when hip firing. Marksman sight definitely helps.

 

ACT .44 'Pillager' 'Last Stand' 'Golden Marksman PR1':

Recommended mods: 'Golden Marksman' if you want that extra range, 'Pillager' if you want to fire faster, 'Last Stand' if you like to use it close range and move around.
Optional mods: N/A

Why: The ACT .44 is a deceptive weapon. You can finish off a dying opponent with a single shot and often times players don't expect you to use it. Pick a modification based on your playstyle.

 

FR0G 'Kokoe' 'Rocket' 'Thumbnail'

Recommended mods: If you want a combination of stealth and accuracy, go for the thumbnail.
Optional mods: 'Rocket' is a close second and 'Kokoe' is a third.

Why: The silencer also reduces recoil which is a godsend in a 1v1 pistol fight.

 

NFA-9 'Quickdraw':

Recommended mods: N/A
Optional mods: N/A

Why: N/A

 

S-AS PDW 'Hotfoot':

Recommended mods: N/A
Optional mods: N/A

Why: N/A

So I can give people suggestions on which ones to pick. There are primaries that have locked mod slots too so I thought in the interest of transparency it's best to include all weapons. As I put int he post, I'm gradually completing it. 🙂

Sure, Bandolier 2 and Reflex Sight 3 are good mods to use alongside 3-Point Sling. Bandolier 2 gives an extra rocket while Reflex Sight 3 decreases the zoom while aiming, slightly improving spatial awareness when winding up shots.
