what happened to overkill hardware?

What happened to overkill hardware that would allow more people in each district.

na servers got it, server performance improved, but not enough for more than 50v50

 

eu never got it

 

 and then g1 changed to some other servers (softlayer?) that were noticeably worse, but probably cheaper

With the engine upgrade and way faster hardware, shocked it's still stuck at 50v50.

The original Overkill hardware is now10 years old. It's outdated and slow compared to modern hardware. Hardware isn't an issue, but we're limited to whatever LO can afford. LO could host their own physical servers, but I doubt LO have the funding and technical knowledge to do it, going by their latest additions to APB having features missing and broken.

 

Besides, the current issue with the servers isn't the servers themselves. There's network issues between the server host and the DDoS protection provider. You can prove this by running traceroute with UDP packets, using the same port APB is using. The traceroute will look perfect up to the last hop.
