Issues which appear out of nowhere and cannot be explained usually require a couple of steps of troubleshooting.

I'm just trying to eliminate possible error sources.

they can be explained pretty easy

there are 2 things that changed

    APB got patches

and for me because i didnt play for longer time

    Easy Anticheat got added

those are the only 2 things that can explain this because like i said

everything else EVERYTHING runs perfectly fine

I don't seem to have this issue either. Just for comparison, my rig:

    CPU: I7 - 6700K 4.0 GHz (OC @4.5GHz All cores)
CPU COOLING SOLUTION: NZXT Kraken x61
    GPU #1: Palit GTX 1070 8GB OC @2.0GHz
MOBO: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3X
    RAM: 4x4GB G.Skill RipJaws 4 2133 MHz CL15
PSU: Some 750W Corsair, too lazy to look up

(APB installed on 2x1TB SSDs in RAID 0)

I noticed your RAM timings being higher than mine, not sure if that is related to the issue though.

Do you have APB installed on an SSD or HDD?

    RAM timings are you serious?

can we stop now with the shitposts here because we said mutiple times already that:

    other games run perfectly fine

    apb ran perfectly fine BEFORE

Our Hardware is fine if it wouldnt be point 1 and/or 2 would not be possible

this is not productive at all

Disable power saving features for your GPU and see if that fixes it temporarily.

like i said in my posts above every other game runs perfectly fine

    CSGO 400+fps

    League of Legends 150+ fps

    Black Desert Online 100+ fps

    PUBG 100+ fps

no fps drops no stutter at all only apb is not playable at all

True, I get fps dips from 145 to 120 in the character screen selection screen, as well as in the game it self, Camera keeps stuttering all the time.

so we have exactly the same error i guess i am happy that i am not the only one and that it has nothing to do with my setup because every other game runs perfectly fine

@MattScott is there something we can do to help identify the issue or something

  5. 4 hours ago, cheater said:

The fps issue is something they introduced 2 patches ago, resolved last patch and introduced it again this patch, Has nothing to do with your GPU clock or CPU Clock, i have the same problem as well.

so the game is basically unplayable for you too?

  6. so ive wanted to play some apb again yesterday and ive now have framedrops from 120+ fps to 5 fps and crazy stuttering

and there are 2 changes that happened between now and last time ive played

    1. easy anticheat got added to apb

i have a ryzen 7 2700x and to get most of the performance possible from the cpu you need to set affinity and set specific cores to the game

(this doesnt work anymore because easy anticheat blocks every cpu affinity or core affinity changes and even programms like process lasso that optimize cpu distribution get completely blocked)

    2. ive changed my vega 56 amd gpu against a new Navi 5700xt gpu

this is something else ive changed but i dont think its the problem because the gpu sits at like 200-500mhz when i am ingame in apb so it gets stalled by the cpu that doesnt give it enough work

the normal boost clock of the gpu in Black Desert Online for example is like 1900mhz so its basically sitting idle

if the frames boost up to 120 fps when i dont move the mouse the clock also only goes up to 700mhz

so is there something i can do or can you devs work together with me to fix performance for either ryzen cpus or navi gpus if we can find out what the error is.

thanks for the help in advance

  7. its crazy that this community wants everything like right now but LO and Matt isnt allowed to make any money at all in any way because they are instantly "greedy" and shit like that

they bought this dead as fuck game for probably way too much money and are sinking money into it right now which makes them probably a 99% loss right now because this game probably makes them money for like 5% of the employees that work on it.

stop being greedy fucks and wait until shit is ready

the shit have to read all the time here makes me furious seriously

  8. ok first feedback round i didnt crash ever and everything runs really smooth

    gameplay wise

    - we really need a go to next round/district when your team is dead so you dont have to wait like 10 minutes for next game

    - there should be more stuff spawning in the game (weapons/cash) / the cards to activate the poison machines are too spare too maybe

    - hazzmath suits are more than enough

    - teamchat / voice doesnt work?

    - there is some sort of safezone in the middle of the game near central bug but maybe it was a bug?

There is some inconsistency in the benchmarks and initial frame rate tests. For instance, some hardware is running better than the current game and others are running worse. We already have another build queued up for testers this weekend with another round of changes. Improving the frame rate is critical, and that's an area that we will be focusing on until we can match or exceed the framerates in live.

i hope that doesnt mean that you guys only optimized for intel/nvidia hardware but you will also optimize for amd graphics cards and especially the new cpus.

because that sounds like intel/nvidia is running better with the new engine (its unreal engine which is optimized heavily for nvidia)

because my ryzen 2700x + vega 56 runs really fine right now in apb would be shit if it would run worse after the engine upgrade....

If that's the case then I'm a little miffed tbqh. It's the old players who have kept holding on and playing this game, supporting it (myself included) through continuing to buy etc.

The engine upgrade isn't even out yet, and while I don't know the exact number yet, I'm pretty sure the majority amount of people even playing will be mostly made up of OLD players (plus all their alts) not new players.

It would be a different story if this event was after engine update where it could start being promoted, but as of now? It sucks because this would have been a major draw to a couple of friends who haven't played in a while to come back, only to then turn out that we can't play together due to not wanting to be unfair to a low amount of new players (I think, if I'm wrong on that please correct me)

With that said, Jericho pop is so low that when doing missions it's typically premade vs premade most of the time (my own personal experience)

Not sure why that had to change for this event. I'm just salty but that's my two cents.

the little group of people supporting isnt even an argument if you got 5 people to spend like 500 dollars each you have basically 1 months of salary for 1 employee... good job!

  12. Movement in combat situations

At the moment we just can run, jump and hide, switch arm, look around corners. I thought it could give fights a bit more action if we can do more like dodge rolls/jumps, wall-walk-shooting, 3-Point-Landing, laying down. I was kidding with the two things in the middle... nothing too edgy or straight out of anime looking moves. Something possible you can do in a fight. If shot you can jump or roll into cover or use it to avoid bullets. That could probably open the wae for new character upgrades or a new stamina system for those moves but somehow it can be confusing because stabba reduces stamina and adding another system besides that could burst someones brain.

At some point it is boring just being able to walk in a fight or crouch. There is more to make a fight nice and spicy i think.

I asked Matt about this in January on Twitter and he responded: (I'm assuming what I asked back then is the same thing the OP is asking about)

from what ive read this is right but there is way more information about it out now and the complete integration and featureset which wasnt available back then so he should take a look again

i've edited my post (an hour ago, just before you posted - again now because it was still a bit vage), haven't read properly before (i've stopepd after new api tbh xd) and thought this was just about steams new platform-wide trustfactor measures

    actually seems very good!

only point that still stands is that steam tends to go down at times too - but it's definitely better than than constantly laggy servers due to ddos

    https://twitter.com/SteamStatus has a good backlog

yeah but the 4hours it goes down is for steam maintenance and should not affect the servers itself right steam games are not usually down at that time atleast i cant remember them being

  15. 22 minutes ago, neophobia said:

except when it goes down for 4h every other week... guess not as dreadful as constantly ddosed servers but still

issue is, even with steamworks - you'd still have to host servers yourself, obviously, and those could be ddosed just like before. steam doesn't do this (and if they would, certainly not cheap)

...and thus, it would make 0 difference from current state.

the only thing it might change would be if login servers or something would always be ddosed, that could probably be circumvented like this.

    but:

the server ips are still exposed (as you can see in dota2 - some players used to ddos the specific gameserver they were on if they were losing to null the records of said game)

the other way of using steamworks... would be p2p connections. and certainly you wouldn't want apb p2p - especially with steamworks

(try e.g. playing terraria over steam and then with direct connections or even something like hamachi/tunngle - the lag/desync issues become insane (at least in some cases - well recorded in steam reviews though)

of course there are games where it does work perfectly fine though - i just wouldn't sell it as the perfect solution)

so you basically contradict everything that steam is saying?? i dont believe that

Relaying your game traffic over our network gives you several benefits.

First, relaying traffic anonymizes it, protecting both gameservers and clients from denial-of-service attacks. Furthermore, because routing decisions are made dynamically by the client, if a relay becomes unavailable, clients can switch to a different relay within seconds, perhaps at a different point-of-presence if necessary. For an attacker to disrupt gameplay, they must mount an attack large enough to overwhelm multiple data centers.

Second, clients can select a route that gets off of the public Internet and onto our dedicated links as early as possible. On our backbone we can ensure that the routing is optimal, since we have peered with over 2,500 ISPs. We also prioritize the latency-sensitive game traffic over HTTP content downloads, which we can afford to do because game traffic makes up a relatively small percentage of our overall bandwidth utilization. And on our backbone, a sudden surge of traffic unrelated to gaming won’t degrade the experience.

Finally, by relaying the traffic in software, we can often improve the ping time!
How can a relayed route be faster than a direct route? The Internet is a packet-switched network; there is no such thing as a “direct” route. When a packet is sent “directly” to the remote host's IP address, it takes the route determined by standard IP routing protocols. This route is often not optimal! Our protocol puts the client in charge of routing decisions. The client considers each relay point-of-presence, and determines the end-to-end latency along this route. It then selects the route with the lowest latency.

Giving clients their choice of route makes a difference surprisingly often. Based on a sample of 16M connections from unique client IP addresses to dedicated servers in our data centers:

43% of players experienced an improvement in their ping time.

25% of players experienced an improvement of 10ms or more

10% of players experienced an improvement of 40ms or more.
