Before they added a DEP check I ran it on some ubuntu flavor with wine and it ran better than windows. If every game I play ran on linux I'd switch over right now which it seems most can now since battleye and eac are supporting it.

-EAC Supports proton already but has to be enabled by devs
-BE Will be supporting proton soon but isn't available yet

  2. Matt said in the previous posts that there wouldn't be much to show / talk about in the comming weeks due to what they're currently doing, being mostly code, other than LO, nobody has information to provide you, we're all as clueless as you are, and if we aren't, we problably can't tell you either 774288233945235487.png?v=1

Can you still play Fallen Earth?

After a long 10 year run, the original Fallen Earth servers were taken offline on October 14, 2019. Little Orbit is now working on an all-new reboot of the game.

You still on a mission to discredit people and their posts with out actually adding anything to the conversation.  Now back up your statement as to why its a dumb conspiracy ?  Use punctuation please, we are not children.

Ah yes, buying a game to kill it after you had a successful line of mobile apps that made your company successful, makes complete sense, that's totally how i would drive my company for a bright future!

The maps, models for cars & guns, animations & textures could be exported to a new engine.

There would be some heavy lifting to be done regarding all the custom code:
Character creation, Symbols, Clothing a.k.a. skinning, LODs, physics... maybe even network...

Starting from scratch would be best, but there is so much to do...

If a "10-devs or less" team could update this game engine in 4 years by themselves, I'd be impressed.

i mean i'm no developper, but a lot of those could be figured out quite fast, none of those are uncommon features nowadays, they would have a very low ammount of creative work to do, and again i meant it as long as they reuse most of the assets without overly focusing on polish.

    What if Little Orbit:

    - deletes APB Reloaded completely (including accounts, progress etc.)

    - develops the game entirely from scratch with Unreal Engine 4/5

    - compensates every player after release of the new game with the amount of credits they spend in the old version of APB

This way devs don't have to waste their time by working through junk code from RTW/G1 times. Instead they focus on developing the game on current technology with clean code.

Also it might be easier to find new employees since new blood devs are more likely to have learned working with newer versions of Unreal Engine rather then older versions.

And with the compensation, starting from beginning won't be a big deal for players since they can re-purchase everything. And they can re-explore the game with all it's new features and optimizations while working their way back to the top.

TBF, i know most people would disagree with me on that, but i thought the same for a very long time, APB costed 100 million but never gave any decent return on investement, it would just be easier to redo the complete game and reuse the assets from APB since LO has the rights.

Starting APB as a new game, with a fresh base, rather than this old, broken, outdated engine, that is causing so much pain, i'm fairly certain APB could be redone even by a small devteam, in less than 4 years, as long as they reuse the assets from the original game.

thing is, this is a long term commitement, and going forward with upgrading the game instead of remaking a new one is ALSO a long term commitement, one that Reloaded Productions and Little orbit choosed to pursue instead of the first option.

So now, i kind of think it's too late to do that, unless matt has enough money saved to run the company for long enough to complete developent of a new game up to a playable state.

  6. The tradelock system implemented by LO is stupid, im thankful for all they did to APB except that

This tradelock system annoys players more than they protect them, and funny enough, it doesn't even protect them sometimes, when i login on my account, usually i'm not even tradelocked on the first login, i'm tradelocked only on the second login, so if i were a malicious user i could just steal everything anyway.

I don't understand why they implemented that system anyway, you should be able to send an email to your email adress anyway to get a confirmation code or something to lift said tradelock.

2FA Can be done by other means than phone auth apps, you can use emails, or secret passphrases.

I just think this tradelock system was by far the most annoying thing LO ever introduced to the game, it's half assed, it's annoying and it doesn't even work properly.

Just saying, that's how it should be done: Give us the choice

  7. apb currently doesn't really need to stay alive, i don't think the popularity of apb NOW is matt's worry, we all know there's always lots of eyes watching over APB, also the game isn't being advertised at all, so obviously there's no influx of new players.

All the focus is on the engine upgrade, marketing should come after, people can stop playing now and they will come back later, well, at least most of us will... and after all, don't we all keep comming back to APB even tho nothing changes ?.

APB has a very big following, but not a highly active playerbase, only thing i can say is, be patient, and if apb isn't pleasent now, then don't play it, we all get that people complaining only want the game to be good at their heart, but there's no point wasting ressources on an already broken and outdated game (funny enough, what we're upgrading to is already somewhat oudated compared to modern stuff...).

We can just wait for the engine upgrade like we all have been doing since 2014 842900323671474186.gif?v=1

    Hello Gro,

As before, we appreciate you making this thread and making sure we know of the issue. We have it in our list to fix, but unfortunately the scope is such that any fix would have to occur after the engine upgrade is complete. You can follow Matt's posts on our progress here.

    Regards,

    Sakebee

i understand that all priorities are on the engine upgrade, but this is a bit of a joke to just let critical game features break and ignore it until something with no known release date arrives.

  9. EOL Kickback + Frog / Deep impact + .45 in baylan

Because i love playing with my enemies's tactics, nobody knows how to react to kickback since nobody plays it

Because nobody expects 990 Damage / This weapon to be used in baylan, sometimes i also have fun using it with TG8, as deep impact does 990 damage, and TG8 does 5 damage, so i can hit someone with deep impact and kill them with two shots of a "non lethal" weapon

Game should at least uncap to 240 after engine update for those who have 240hz + monitors tbh.

Or simply give us the abillity to have a custom FPS limit, like basically all modern games.

I lost the bet... it took more than 30 minutes (~1H30) , but we found the issue

Turns out he had a third party software to manage his steam accounts, after some suspicions he sent it to me and it was indeed, based on AutoIT, which was what he was getting kicked for.

Hello, so I just wanted to update this to my current tweaks which have been really stable. this also includes the recent windows update that caused some fps stutters.

As always this is all based on my setup, which is unique, but focuses on a few key factors surround an RTX 3k  Graphics card. again usual legal "at your own risk" and this is not for the green fingered pc users.

    So recap

Intel 8 Core 16 Thread @3.2 , DDR4 2333mhz (amount doesn't matter but its more then required and above 10gb.)  Graphics Card is an EVGA XC3 Ultra RTX3070 running latest Nvidia drivers. Also Running latest version of Precision X1, with Boost lock off and OSD Disabled.  also running OS on SSD, game is installed to a SATA III (3)6gb 3tb HDD.

Extra bits of info, Monitors are connected by display port, at 60hz (max for my monitors)   OS Version 20h2 (from a fresh iso install not Updated to) build 19042.928, This also includes latest Netframework, VC_distru x86 + x64 , also includes Dx update package to include DX12U from os install.  <<< This is very important with RTX 3k,  Fresh OS install is best with 3k cards do not install into an old environment.

Running the game away from an active OS drive is still key, especially hdd, this being a secondary storage device with out OS or other continuous w/r applications on it. for some reason when i run the game on ssd it just doesn't like it . im not going to dig into this issue.   * added note The game is in a completely Vanilla state, no code tweaks or use of AdvL.

Iv made a change to the Nvidia Profile for APB Reloaded,  (remember this only works if you tell NVC to use Advanced 3d settings)

    9d1d5aff0b71c7b2e4990d4f4ec3b1cb77cf7e2d

Copy these , you will see iv set a "background fps limit" as my monitors only go to 60hz, so iv set an over head of 10.  (remember global settings is what my default is, refer to what is in the ( ) Brackets) but i have kept the game / application fps to unlimited max

in game settings are as follows.

    e804792743d6c09b4693d6e6d49363ed89b98a19

You can see here i have disabled Vsync, this is because i run the game in "window mode" which the os does not actively support, however within NVC profiles you can enable the profile to try and actively "vertical sync" the application . which in my personal mind does a better job then the game does in full screen.

    1d9535dbabb56147946425326a3ed0a612f485c6

This is how it looks for me, fair enough I run 4k 28" monitors,  I run the game in "2k" 2560x1440. (the best res forget 4k even in fullscreen) and yes this res is still overkill for apb in its current state.

    another pic from game play

    d2f0e7b9f506b652e71211608e85624992f47842

In game screen grab whilst in action, haze had his head shot , fps on the side, not  a massively active scene, but never drops below 61.2 max 62 fps. (vysnc max is 60)

Last thing. Nvidia Gsync. This I found out has a habit of been on as default,  and for me my monitors although "freesync" do not support Gsync or cross compatibility.

    3c3b35b4d59dfdc6a4839392dafa3eb53ab1b53d

you can Enable this feature but really it was causing more issues for my work flow then worth the time.  so i disabled the feature out right.  Its worth checking if you do not have compatible monitors to turn this off.

Hope this helps those who wish to play and are willing to learn/tweak.

Oh and if this helps you get into the game and play then give this a ♥ or 🏆 in the corner so I know we are making progress. 👍 thanks

just as a note, but freesync and gsync are compatible between each other, it's just that freesync's good results aren't guaranteed on nvidia cards.

yea and it's literally been the other way around for over 5 years now lol

kind of yeah, especially with the nvidia driver overhead at very high framerates for competitive games, anyway, this thread probably isn't the place to chat about it 🤔
