A very shory recap of what was said about FE during the AMA for APB:

 

* FE is "days away from being online. Hopefully not weeks". (Old anti-ddos system prevented bringing FE back earlier, fixed now);

* Theyre still working on the remake. Yay;

* Matt is sorry that we are going bonkers with FE withdrawal here for so long;

 

(I wasnt able to watch the AMA stream - ty to johnnynge for clipping and relaying the parts about FE, Hondy and sal_the_Value_Pig for providing and clarifying quotes)

They are a relatively small company dealing with a big pile of dumpster fires (FE, APB had its own moments too, also Unsung Story and STFU) and this year sure wasnt gentle on them xD
Its probably safe to assume that theyre diverting what manpower they have to more essential tasks, at least until they arent swamped so bad. And writing a quick notice on Discord is faster than a more formal post here (for comparison - APB gets more minor updates / news via discord too, mostly the big ones actually reach the forums).
Im also doing this at the expense of my free time. If LO staff spent the past few months working 16hour long days (based on what Matt said at the end of AMA - im assuming most of them are, or FE / APB related staff are at least) - there really isnt that much spare time left for copying text from one site to another.

(dont get me wrong, id prefer that updates be timely and everywhere theyre due, but its likely just not possible given the situation)

APB anticheat patch (along with a content update) has been delayed. No word yet on how it will affect work with FE, but a delay on any kind of progress with FE is likely.

If I were LO I rather invest FE than APB ,because there is no other post apocalyptic game like FE . If they want they can make it even better and people will play it.

Oh, i get that.

 

Playerbase size and marketplace revenue played a big role in their decisions. APBs was a few hundred when LO bought out both games, FEs was a lot smaller. Naturally, APB seemed more reliable to prioritize.

 

In an ideal world, we would already have the remake to play, and new content for it. In this one, we have to wait it out just for classic.

 

The anticheat is right above FE in priority, its just a very annoying wait, especially when it seems like the game is so close now.

Cool fun fact. i work for an internet company.

 

It took 2-4 people roughly 1-2 days to set up a data center and have it online providing whatever.

 

They should just admit they do not want FE online becuase they got in trouble for IP sitting, among other things, and are forced to keep the game open.

Right now there just weseling there way out of it for as long as they can. 

Any of you smart folk here know a number to call? a place to report too. lets see how fast servers can be up when someone is watching you.

 

Of course lets not forget APBs anniversary update and anti-cheat has been 2 weeks.

And i also heard that people have caught cheaters in apb just openly talking about buy and selling said cheats with zero repercussions.

 

So far i give LO a 1/10. atleast g1 didn't keep FE offline for server months and years, or threat perma bans for everything.

Or refuse to do anything about cheaters. But hey atleast they fixed.....well TRIED to fix several things in APB, by making things way worse in a lot of aspects. like changing mobile cover. or giving everyone the power to own broke and unbalanced guns.

I want to let everyone know that we are aware of how awful the EU networking has been.
For the last week, our primary network provider has been getting hammered into the ground by very large (1.5T) DDoS attacks.
They aren't the only ones. Most of Europe and other regions have also been hit with these large scale packet floods, and it has affected a lot of sites.

While Little Orbit has Anti DDoS protection that we route all of our game traffic through.
But currently if our primary network provider's network gets saturated with attacks, then we still go offline.

I am finalizing a new upstream provider with much larger capacity, better routes throughout Europe, and end to end Anti DDoS protection.
I am hoping that we can get this new solution in place over the coming days to help stabilize the game.

As many of you know, our previous hosting provider went offline with no warning on Feb 1. We immediately scrambled to put together our own set of data centers, bare metal hosting, and Anti DDoS. That has been functioning since March. However, there were several parts of the architecture that we had to cut corners on due to the time pressure.

 

For a number of days now, our transit provider (circuit/internet) that services our EU data center has been getting DDoSed into oblivion. 1.5T attacks are incredibly difficult to defend and since they are upstream from us, we can't apply any of our Anti DDoS measures.

 

However, we were already in the process of making some adjustments to the architecture of our network there. We are working as fast as we can to expand bandwidth, improve routing, and create redundancy to help alleviate all of the issues players are seeing right now in the EU.
