  1. Hello,

If the Windows update service is not working or the service is terminated the Visual C++ installers can fail.

Does activation work and Windows updates? (your images show it might not be,  Windows 8.1 Pro build 9600 text).

Assuming you have the above working, in the control panel, programs and features,

Turn windows features on of off.

    Make sure the following,

    • .Netframe work 3.5
    • .Netframework 4.0/4.x

    Are both ticked.

  2. The ATAC cannot be used like the NTEC, for the longer range shots you will end up having to tap fire slowly. This is where you need to consider the mods very carefully as IR will not help for the full automatic fire. I find the best way to use the ATAC is to rely on it's firerate, it can be burst fired very quickly. If within it's optimal range the mobility and firerate will make your life easier but it is not as accurate as the NTEC.

    • If you play CQC (SMG) and sometimes wish for more range / accuracy the ATAC will help.
    • If you want something similar to the Joker Carbine with full automatic fire, the ATAC will help.
    • If you are looking for something as a substitute for how you would usually play the NTEC, it will not work .
    • The higher end of medium range the NTEC will always win.

I also wouldn't say it is an easier gun to use, the NTEC is the weapon that gets good results most of the time, why else is it the most popular gun?

Easy is the weapon which always works, tap tap tap, dead. It is different and depending where you come from (SMG users that can aim will like it) you will either like what it has to offer or find it very different.

What I mean by this is that you have weapons like n tec 5 hitting targets at very long ranges with modifications and performing sniping tasks better then weapons specifically designed to do that very task. Anubis at the moment for example has damage drop off at 80m. n tec 5 if i recall has min damage drop off 60 or 65m.  It does max damage at 50m with Improved rifling 3 itd make the weapon go to 57m. Damage drop off doesnt happen all at once so your effectly extending the range to about  65m for sure. With the higher rate of fire making it less noticeable and almost instantly replacing the damage lost. Your talking about a fully automatic sniper rifle sniper rifle that could possibly kill at 70m in the right hands. Itd also have more uses rendering certain snipers completely useless.

So for a significant change what are the options that you would consider?

Increase the 100m limit or something else. (100m limit means changes to how the game handles player positioning, its a server/network load increase and rendering distance (should be doable with the engine upgrade)

The problem of APB is the Maximum range, view range and the overal scale of the game that renders sniper almost useless since the entire game is objective based and more or less CQB, the situation for a sniper is rarely given. Every gun except the sniper feel about right for the range the game has, for snipers to be a valuable choice you would have to double the Range, that however is not impossible but not practical since again CQB for the most part.

The general size of the maps and the combat simply don't give you any chance at realistically balancing the range of weapons.

This is exactly the issue with long range capable weapons in APB but if you could see beyond 100m game play and tactics would change to suit.

Waterfront is a very open map, it would open up player possibilities?

This means weapons that when used correctly and to thier full capabilities still cannot compete with weapons that are outside of its class/role. Weapons outside of the designated role either out perform them completely or render them inefficient/useless when performing the same task/role.

    Can you expand on this?

    Short range weps

    OCA

    ACES

    CSG

    JG

    Short + mid range

    Joker Carbine

    ACES Rifle

    ATAC

    Star

    NTEC

    Mid range

    Obeya Rifle

    OBIR

    Long range

    NHVR

    DMR

To an extent this is quite balanced with the short + mid range weapons being able to fill 2 roles. A lot of the balancing is restricted to the 100m range. if this were to change it would improve weapon balancing and alter game play drastically. (150m, 200m?)

  5. The GPU workload is processed as a single thread and the game engine is also on a single thread.

Coupled with DX9 and a very inefficient physics processing engine, also single threaded, APB is not optimised for multi-threading / multi-core CPUs.

IPC is the only way to counter the inefficient design and when you consider older processors from Intel vs newer AMDs there is a reason why AMD are still behind.

This indicates lower single core performance on the AMD CPUs so for higher frame rates (more stable frame rates) Intel would currently be the prefered choice.

But what about scammers? People scam and trade scammed guns on Citadel almost openly, some even don't change characters and one said he got ~40 guns this way. Besides ruining trading and overall gameplay experience (why even bother with progression if one may scam anything they want?) these simply remove paying customers from the game: some people quit after being scammed.

There is mention of a trading system in the APB Road map blog post: https://apbreloaded.gamersfirst.com/2018/06/apb-roadmap.html

  7. Hello,

    What router do you have?

DMZ usually exposed all ports to a computer behind the router, this means if the PC in the DMZ is broadcasting a service or has no additional firewall it will be visible over the internet.

This can be a security issue.

Depending on the router your options may be limited. (labelling may also be different)

    Virtual server configuration page?

Custom server = call it something

Server IP address = your computers IP, eg 192.168.1.2

    External port start = 1

    External port end = 65565

    Protocol = TCP/UDP

    Internal port start = 1

    Internal port end = 65565

Do the same thing but for the other computer

Server IP address = your computers IP, eg 192.168.1.5

    External port start = 1

    External port end = 65565

    Protocol = TCP/UDP

    Internal port start = 1

    Internal port end = 65565

See if this works for both computers, disable the DMZ to test it.

My issue perf wise is server lagg. My 6yr old gaming rig handles anything thats avail on max stats thanks to a solid processor and afew months ago I upgraded from my GTX770 to a GTX1050Ti so graphics im fine on for another 6yrs.

As for your question yes I would continue to change the oil and anything else untill I purchased said new car and had the keys in my hand for it. Untill that time the old bus needs to be maintained.

As others have pointed out, the lag issues are not going to benefit from changes as a result of DDoS mitigation even with a new car but particular vulnerabilities may disappear as a result of the engine upgrade.

Wether its a waste or not something needs to be done to help things untill an engine upgrade is ready. Its like the oil in ur car after 3,000 miles it needs to be changed cause its dirty and it starts doing harm. Ignoring that means eventually ull burn up all the oil and the engine will sieze up. Thats after all the dirty oil slowly damages the pistons. The APB servers and data were left alone for so long that there are big issues that cant be fixed that simply. Look at how unstable the servers are now, something has to be done with what we currently have otherwise its all going to crash for an extended amount of time.

Interesting analogy but in this case it is not about changing the oil. What has happened so far is that the oil is constantly being topped up. The APB bus has reached it's service life, the leather seats are no longer leather. The wheel bearings are toast, the pison rings are worn, the valves do not seat correctly and the engine is misfiring. It has served its purpose and now is beyond economical repair, furthermore the engine was heavily modified to the point of making some changes impossible to reverse. Lets say the head has been skimmed, inlet ports bored, custom designed exhaust manifold, custom designed pistons...

Do you change the oil to try and keep it going or consider the alternative, we need a better engine / newer car to take our customers into the furture. (as already mentioned by other users)

Yes I would like the game to be better, anything that helps but the biggest problem is the outdated hard to modify engine.

Imagine all the APB players that have been waiting for years reacting to a new update that aims at trying to provide the current engine with optimisations.

It might not go down very well especially for a developer that is trying to restore confidence among the playerbase.

Can I also ask, what are your issues (performance related) right now with the game?

Most reasonable PCs can obtain a solid 60fps, stutters are more noticeable on HDDs, my gaming experience without considering DDoS related issues isn't that bad.

This has been an issue since G1 took over in which they released updates, patches, hotfixes without optimizing the game files and compressing them so they the game would run smoother and with less issues and space required. I think optimizing all the files would benefit not only the playerbase but LO and the servers as things would run smoother.

I don' know if you ever read the APB Blogs back in 2013, this makes good reading if you would like to know more on the history of the APB tweaks and why what you are asking for is seen as a waste of time.

Due to the vintage of the engine, we keep bumping up against performance limitations, and also severe limitations in our product development speed. Because we use many custom systems in the game, it takes a very long time for our team to make material changes to the game, resulting in a lot of features being shelved or delayed.

An upgraded engine would let us tackle important things like min-spec system performance, lighting system improvements, net code improvements and new graphic card optimizations and it would likely lead to a faster content creation pipeline by taking advantage of new systems available in the updated engine.

Back then it was already tried with the outcome being to move forward and proceed with the engine upgrade.

  11. To provide a solution to those that do not wish to share their weapons, make it an option.

    • Before the missions starts you have it either 1) share with all, 2) share will team, 3) disabled
    • Once a mission starts it becomes locked to your choice.
    • So weapons will only drop from the players that have it enabled / team or all.
    • Weapons can only be picked up by those that have it enabled / team or all
    • If you choose to disable the feature, you miss out.

So as a tactical advantage, it would be great to share with your team.

Why would you share it with the opposition, without any incentive it may be a useless feature.

Disabled, don't help your team, don't let anyone touch your weapons.

You can do that, you dont need to be a baby sitter. I only would help the ones who try to progress in the game and there is nothing wrong in it.

Thats why you can switch your weapon instead of picking others.

This is not what the concept is about.

How can it work after all i named??? are you that delusional?

1- It barely matters when its broken feature not matter how you modify it.

    2- Read 1

    3- Read 1

    4-

-I barely give a f about new players, let them experience the game slowly and incentive them to progress with proper rewards no stealing weapons.

-There is no p2w, i dont want to share my weapons.

-Give them back trial or just like we all did, effort and spent time to buy what you think its useful.

-They can read and experience that themselves, like we all did. I enjoyed experiencing with mods gave me a reason to play.

-Is not tactical killing an enemy unload your weapon, pick the one from enemy and keep firing. Its just buff defenders.

-Is fun for you, i already gave my points why is NOT funny.

5- Fine, buy legendarys and give them away, what prevents you to do that?

I respect all players especially the new ones.

Tactical elements are not just about picking up a weapon and using it. It is the process of making a choice during combat that can change the outcome of a given scenario. A well thought out weapon drop system would open up this area and provide players with a consequence as a result of their actions, as explained already.
