I left at the time when the science was just starting since I saw what was coming (more like not) and I am still skeptical. I can only imagine what it has been for those who were actually waiting during that time.

This certainly adds context that you wouldn't have a fuller appreciation of how things have improved or how hopeless of a situation things were seeming with APB.

2011, 2014, 2017 or just joining this week... how long one has been in the forum and in game doesn't change the scenario APB is in nor where it has come from.

Yes, called in to defend. I can only comment on what I see in the summary. If the system is smart enough to not show a dropped player in the summary, it should be smart enough to not start a mission that would create a 1v1 if 1v1 is not meant to occur. Then again, I have had people drop from a mission and it would not show them as dropped on the summary screen. The only reason I knew someone had dropped was the system prompted me about backup.

Unfortunately I think there is a diagnosed mission latency issue.

It would explain why If you press K to ready up but then change your mind, half a second later you're thrown into a mission anyway despite being in a unready status.

Meet me here in a year so I can rub it in your face when it is still not here.

I have been around long enough to know how the things goes.

"We are almost done with the engine update. Nooo. Something unexpected happened so we can do everything all over again."

I have watched this movie already.

Yeah most people on this thread have been on APB long enough to remember how stagnant and hopeless APB seemed in the later years of GamersFirst.

No content, no real updates, next to no communication from staff.

Little Orbit in contract is actively working on the new game engine and MattScott is posting updates on progress. While they're few, far between and rather insignificant, holiday events are still being done and new items are being done on the side.

If the new game engine is going to take as long as it needs to be done properly then that should be reassuring that it is being taken seriously.

If the APB didn't die in the last 3 years with the population numbers dropping

I am positive that coming onto the forums and talking completely out of your patootie, repeatedly, about subjects of which you know nothing, is bad for the community, and the game.

I'm sorry you are so salty that I have some silly forum badge, but I'm just a player. This makes me as free to speak my mind within the rules of the forum as anyone else.

    😉

Later it may be a discussion for a new thread but I agree with Ciber.

I can respect wanting to feel free to express yourself but there needs to be standards, I could elaborate honest If I do then it might as well be a separate thread.

if it is even possible to make it run better on the new engine to begin with.

It is, it's just going to be a bit of work to make all the old code optimised more.

i m not optimistic aswell but we need to take our time with a company that isn't used to this

Considering this is the engine, the heart that runs the core game. It's better to do it right first time than making the game worse without know what caused it and then trying to race to find a cure.

My point is that is less of a necessity nowadays considering as you said you can just cheese your way.

I don't even remember the last time I needed to use a sniper for example. Sure, I can pick one for the sake of practicing but there is no real urge to be like "oh this situation requires sniper so i need to switch to one".

Its "niche" is pretty much 80% of the time right now. The other 20% goes to shotguns and pmg.

The ntec is a guns that's jack of all trades and master of none. It may be meta but when everyone else does it, then it's average but it's your prerogative.

OP asked how to improve, No one can fault them for that.

Things not lookin very good..and ends like this

My guess.RTW knew that they made mess of a game which cant be fixed. No wonder development cost more than 100m and they sell it for 750k.They knew whoever pick this sht is doomed. Most likely LO not gonna be able to fix it.Hope im wrong..

RTW was making something bespoke but doing something completely new and custom was always going to be a bit hit a miss, I'd have to say that simplifying and optimising the game would of been further down the line but obviously funds ran dry and time ran out.

The business went bust but they tried to get something of a return for their efforts.

There are criticism, there is pessimism, I think this thread (if not the OP) is more negative than it needs to be. If APB was going to die again then it would of been during the transition between Gamers First and Little Orbit.

Unfortunately the game engine will take as long as it needs to, Yes the console port was a foolish move but business isn't already straight forward. Last thing the staff need is a sense of pressure or expectation.

Be thankful for the openness and transparency by Little Orbit on the work being done and the progress made, That was something GamersFirst didn't do.

    I mean ARMAS..

Ok. There are the gamble Joker Boxes.

But without new players coming to the game (Or so it seems) wouldn't the paying players run out of items to buy on ARMAS?

I mean is the game still returning any profit?

If not I'm afraid we haven't got much time left folks.

Have you been away for a while or have you just figured that out?

There has been a sense of urgency because new players do not want to get crushed with such a broken match making and threat system, the learning curve is steep enough as it is.

As things are, it's not ideal with such an out dated game engine when adding new content. Obviously there needs a balance of fund and concurrent population but the reality is APB is old and needs a game engine upgrade.

Improving performance on modern PCs and Consoles will encourage some players to stay a bit, repairs/replacement of a match making and threat system should be easier, and new content should more easier to implement.

Regrettably It'll take as long as it needs to. Although APB is free to play, it's easier said than done to not make it pay to win and to maintain profit margins.

  8. I would suggest if you want to practice aiming then go back to basics: Using a joker carbine for practicing with hip firing. Although it is the meta, I would suggest a ntec to practice automatic fire and marksmanship because it's a good average baseline.

Everyone suggesting using certain weapons, when really you should be switching it up and changing as much as possible to learn and build that muscle memory.

That's actually a very good shout.

    28 minutes ago, HawtGirl said:

Why woudl anyone do that in an ntec meta? Once upon a time there was indeed a need to switch but right now, it doesn't seems so.

If you just want to be average or good then just do what ever the meta is or just do something cheesey like PMG.

To improve you got to come out of your comfort zone from time to time, the game's meta changes with new mods, new guns, weapon rebalances... Everyone has a proffered play style but you got to be able to adapt to different scenarios.

addiction counts as a mental illness right?

Call it a hunch but I have a feeling you were going to imply that APB is inherently a bad thing for it.

Addiction is a mental illness yes, just like depression, anxiety, phobias, eating and sleeping disorders, ETC.

Addictions are typically not a good thing; However when over 45% of Americans will have some sort of mental illness in their life, it is not uncommon and mental health is not something to be stigmatized or shamed.

  10. The Medusa regains accuracy the longer you fire it.

It's a a insane laser once it gets going but that's like a full second if not longer, It's a incredible benefit but does that benefit make up for the risk it takes?

The Euryale and Stheno are more simple with it's recoil and accuracy being consistent, for that most would say they are better.

Honestly it's like most weapons, depends on circumstances and play style.

  11. APB was more or less GTA Online before GTA V existed.

APB has an unrivaled level of customisation back when it was first released, and even now in 2020 it is still unrivaled with symbols/decals, vehicles, clothing, characters and music.

Taking the cops and robbers old school yard concept and dialed it up to 11 with bounty hunters and gangsters, But forget marshal law because the City Security Act is in affect*.

Unfortunately it hasn't aged the best.

The community is too competitive to the point of then becoming toxic, and previous management felt maybe pressured, intimidated and overwhelmed by the community at times.

Over the years the experience carries over as new weapons, vehicles and mods come out, the META changes and one adapts but no one can deny that it is a steeper learning curve now than it was back when it was first released.

So you ask why is it veterans that only stay.

It may be a bit late for valentines but It's not word of a lie that I love APB.

At the same time I hate what it has become in some aspects and what others, do, but why do people drink and smoke if it only hurt them in the long run? It's addictive.

More needs to be done to help newer players have a fair starting point.

I think Armas Marketplace shouldn't exist, it's such an old concept.

Feel free to make a new thread to suggest an alternative business plan.

You get 3 hours instead of 30 minutes if you got premium.

True however it really shouldn't be a premium benefit to get 2 and a half hours longer to try out a gun.

3 hours seems like a fair amount to time to get a feel for a gun, but longer would be nice to be able to compare a trail weapons to other guns.

it's already closing, servers already suck

I was going to say elaborate why Little Orbit would take GamersFirst in a acquisition and then spend 2 years working a new game engine for APB only to shut down the game.

Please treat my question of rhetorical and don't answer it!

There are dozens of threads on Social forum complaining that APB is dying, feel free to check then out.

Not sure about you but 6 dollars for 2 clothing items And a title Seems steep for just one per a player. i could understand this if it was for the account but it seems a bit unfair as other clothing packs give you more items (cars, guns etc) along side it . I just really want a halo but not willing to give up 12 dollars for just 1 item i'm going to use on both of my players

Considering each item is $6 and they are items you can only get at valentines, I think you're pushing your luck suggesting adding more items!

Now there is an argument to lower it's price and adding an account wide version of the pack.

I suggest expanding the “leave the mission” button so that it can be done at any time. You can leave the mission now by entering the lobby, but this is not correct, the RAM is filling up to 200 - 300 megabytes, you need to restart the game. Dear developers, activate this button in the mission. This will expand the player’s capabilities, avoiding situations in which the player will have to wait 15 minutes, losing. Dishonest competitors and
comrades will think about their behavior.

A balance is needed, To leave mission when ever you want is going to make APB not a very fun or long lasting experience.

Players should have the right to leave a game if they're in circumstances which are genuinely unfair by normal game standards such as cheating, hacking or players refuses to play in either team.

This should not be an excuse to quit mission just because:

    -Players want a easier opponent

-Players find their opponents too hard
-Players wanting a better team / team member

You should not throw the game just because you can't pick who your opponent or team.

i’m pretty sure he’s suggesting shoes, just a wild guess tho

And here I thought OP was going to suggest adding Unicorns, rainbow motorbikes and helicopters. 🙄

It's easy to say to say we want more content, it also may come across as demanding and a bit rude.
To suggest what kind of content with examples would be more beneficial, besides one should be careful what you wish for.

People wanted a new map, new game mode, some wanted Battle Royale... We got RIOT.

That's more or less how things are.

We have no person situated behind us ready with a whip in case we disagree with choices made by the company. We help out, but we are still individuals and I have never felt like my personal opinion was in any way unvalued or dismissed. I've shared my personal opinions and feelings many times in official settings - you just have to go about it in a professional manner, clearly indicating what you are doing.

Not quite sure what you mean by the first thing.

There are people who want to help but the offers are not taken seriously or are drowned out by others who rather get a laugh out of other's misfortune. I guess I am just a bit cynical about how effective it would be.

The second point was more of a reference to the old SPCT and SPCM. Management has change but as much as I want to help others in APB to improve the community and maybe better themselves and an individual.

To accept different now regrettably doesn't mean confidence and trust are going form quickly.

  18. Basically San Paro City Mentors.

I am very much in favor of a training/support program for new players within APB, but I'll hold my hands up to being bitter after years of insults from fellow experienced players and a strong distrust from new players.

With a lack of care from the previous GamersFir... In fact do I even need to elaborate on the previous G1 with SPCT and SPCM?

You have no idea how much I want to help new players but there's 2 things I'd like in return:

Some basic level of respect as a person, not as an authority but as a fellow player.

Also I'd like to help other and still have some level of freedom of opinion. This doesn't mean freedom of speech but one shouldn't have to pretend that they agree with everything Little Orbit does, It's ok to disagree with a superior as long as you handled in a professional manner.

Sadly neither of these are likely I feel are likely.

My heart and in principle I say yes, my mind says try not to think about where the inspiration came from! 😓

  19. It's not just Armas guns, vehicles, clothing items and all the money other players have spent on this game.

We have had new anti cheats, new servers hosts, server merges, optimization, bug fixes and new features, games modes, threats, match making system as well as now having APB:Reloaded on consoles now.

Even the vehicles and guns from 2012 have had their stats, polygon meshes and skins changed.

What made APB successful in 2012?

GTA V didn't exist, APB was in effect GTA Online for many. Technology of consumer computers have changed and improved DRASTICALLY...  Just look at the minimum and recommended requirements for APB:Reloaded taken from steam's store page:

    temp.png

I think most people if not all know why APB is getting a game engine upgrade so I won't go into that.

APB's lore has hardly changes, RIOT felt like a spin-off.

Years of work such intricate core game coding cannot be undone, It's not as simple as replacing the current game's folders with ones from 2012.

Rose tinted glasses or not, APB has become stale and the game's coding has been fundamentally changed yet is still very much obsolete.

The refer a friend version should be on Armas.  It's not the best weapon, but it's not the worst and should be an option for people wanting it.
