Even if LO manages to fix all the bugs and ban all the hackers, what would be the point if APB's community remains the same toxic cesspool that its always been?

And here it is again, the guy who disses everyone and acts like he's not the most toxic person in this thread.

APB's community is fine, it's not going to change, and it doesn't need to change.

  2. I never really turned on G1, so it's hard to say. The reason I never turned on G1 though was because I thought they mostly made the game better so. . .

. . . I guess it would take until LO does more to hurt APB than to help it? But all things considered, LO hasn't really done anything yet except change over to a worse forum, so there's not much to hate them for.

  3. I probably won't participate, but cool idea, hope it works out well. I have a few things that are confusing me about it though.

Why does the tournament start at best of 1? I get that it saves time and is easier, but APB is way too RNG for that, not to mention defender's advantage.

Why are all snipers banned and not just the HVR and ISSR-B? I don't see how the Anubis, Scout, or DMR are unfair.

What exactly do you mean by the wording of your OCA ban? Does that mean you can only use an OCA with no mods? If so, why not just ban red mods on the OCA instead? Are reskins fine? Why not allow the OCA-EW 626 SD NFCP3 as long as you have no mods? My personal suggestions would be to make the rule "OCAs and OCA variants are only allowed without red-mods, with the exception of the OCA-EW 626 SD NFCP3, but not the PDW-57 'Kris'. The OCA Nano does not count as an OCA for this ruling."

Why teams of 3 instead of 4?

Have you considered making your own defined categories? because as it is some of the categories are slightly bizarre, E.G. the SR15, VBR, and OSCAR don't play the same role as the CR762 or OBIR. Furthermore, if you're using in-game categories, are you using categories as defined by contacts or as defined by roles? (E.G. shotguns & SMGs as opposed to Pointman.)

Thats the reason i usually use opacity on the "shadow" so that the skin colour naturally comes through instead of a artificial colour on top. Less work on either end.

I think he was hinting at the fact that sub-surface scattering can sometimes make shadows actually more saturated than the rest of skin, especially on the edge of shadows.

Wow thanks, i knew they had to do something but this makes it look way easier than i originally thought. I just checked the marketplace and guess what? On the skins, featured and there is the AMG medusa with a hazard skin!

That's funny, I never noticed that one, though some members of the community did need to ask G1 to replace the Rainbow Skin Pack image when it was originally an OCA Nano after the ARMAS update.

I'm not gonna' lie though, I've always wanted the OCA Whisper with the Connoisseur skin on the top row of the last image I posted.

I've done my fair share of modelling and texturing. I can tell you that this won't happen, at least until way later, because it is not a matter of unlocking skins, it is a matter of creating the skins. Each weapon is a different model and needs a unique texture. Old devs were lazy enough and wanted to chuck out lootboxes and new weapons every patch so they just made the weapon models and gave them one or two textures/skins and that was it.

So if you want all the skins for all the weapons, the modellers have to actually create them from scratch, not unlock them.

I can tell you don't know much about APB's skin system, so I'll give you a brief rundown of how it works.

Unfortunately the main page that talked about the skin system is down, but I'll try to explain the way it works in short. Yes, you are correct that skins need to be set up individually for each weapon, but no unique textures are necessary. Every weapon in APB has two textures that map different locations on the gun (E.G. stock and foregrip, barrel, receiver, etc.) so that they can be individually modified, each gun simply has a child version of each skin's shader where they apply all the different materials and textures in a skin to their different masked locations, so in fact all of the textures and materials are set up such that they don't need to make any new materials, they would simply need set regions on the guns and configure the texture locations (tiling, size, etc..) Now, obviously I'm not saying this doesn't take any time, considering that there are roughly 24 legendaries they'd need to set up skins for, and many, many skins, but it isn't quite as difficult as making texture maps for every gun and skin. Not to mention, some of the legendaries already have skin support, such as the Nano, it simply isn't enabled.

um no, you're all nuts who agree's with this idea. it's a heavy sniper for fksake ofc it's suppose to do 85 dmg. what sniper you know that doesn't instakill? atleast in this game it does 85% damage, in other games it instakill. so i disapprove this, because this gun will balance out other broken weapons in this game. people who can't use this gun shoulding cryin for nerfs.

APB isn't every other game, it's a relatively unique game with a relatively high TTK.

There's a reason that there aren't any 1-shot hitscan guns.

  8. It's currently broken, Lixil said something about it but I CBA to find the quote ATM.

I think they're working on fixing it ASAP, but I can't remember what she said exactly.

*EDIT* We don't know why, but it's at least temporarily removed.

Also, what Anubis bug are you referring to? I haven't really played in a long while. Last thing I remember, G1 changed the Anubis' special crosshair to be much smaller than it was. I liked it at that time. Aside from that, it ghost fired fairly often, though the DMR did as well. (Oddly enough, DMR-AV always felt to ghost-fire less than DMR-SD. A couple of my friends felt the same way, but it could've just been the power of suggestion.)

They accidentally applied part of the HVR nerf to the Anubis, so it no longer goes into MM basically as fast as a semi-auto rifle like it used to.

Also yeah, as you said, it has awful hitreg.

Care to explain? You would do the same as the other district, and solve the issues adressed. Why would you need to lower it to 50%?

No real concrete reason, I just would prefer it that way or with no cross district pledging at all. Feels better that way IMO.

its not a very competitive gun unfortunately

running cj3 rs3 and just making it a shitty cqc gun can work

RS3 is honestly basically a downgrade to the gun, not to mention if you just intend to use it in CQC you might as well be using an OCA, so I'm going to have to disagree with you here.

  12. Or you could just actually contribute and join a new district, and nobody would need district queueing!

Seriously though, instead of district queuing, LO's focus should be on cross-instance matchmaking.

  13. Only things you mentioned that actually should be fixed are pushing objectives and spawns, and your suggestion for fixing spawns would make attacking even more difficult, which is an issue because attacking is already harder than defending.

APB doesn't need flavor-of-the-month balancing, a "good enough" balance approach is what's healthiest for APB, where they simply try to keep all guns useable, and buff or nerf any outliers, with occasionally finer passes to try and get everything closer to even. The only time a game should have constant major balancing is when the game is almost primarily aimed at e-sports, which APB is not and never will be. Are there things that need to be tweaked? Yes, the OCSP needs a range buff, M-1922 needs its recoil reverted or changed, the Anubis needs its bugs fixed / reverted, HVR needs a damage nerf, R-2 Harbinger needs all sorts of buffs, the OCA needs to go to a middle-point between its pre and post-buff states, I could go on, but these are all, in the scope of things, relatively minor changes, and a lot of times if a company goes too far trying to "fix" balance too often they end up simply changing the game instead of fixing it, and within a year or two every gun, character, or whatever's being balanced is unrecognizable from what it was at the start.

Furthermore, this is not an acceptable way to fix griefing or ghosting. Perhaps the second most major selling point of APB since its initial announcement has always been the fact that it's a large open world living with player interaction, and removing that would simply make APB not APB anymore. APB has never been marketed as fair, or balanced, or any of that, it's always been intended to be a very social game dependent on interaction with the entire district to make the game fun an unpredictable. The correct way to fix griefing and ghosting is a good report system, not destroying the very foundation of the game.

Also, rating based matchmaking could very well be the most destructive thing they could possibly do to APB, because rating has LITERALLY NOTHING to do with skill, or even, if you're going to argue gear has to do with winning and losing, gear (with the exception of reaching R-40 for CA3, and 195+ mods, which are really not all that life-changing usually.)

Also, P.S. players uhh. . . already respawn in groups.
