  1. I got a notification because my name was tagged, so these are my thoughts:

Don't forget that the question was simply: Is scroll wheel shooting cheating in your opinion?

Scroll wheel shooting is for people who want to truthfully claim they are not using a rapid fire macro while still automating left clicking at lightning speed. Thus it's NOT "cheating", which is the whole silly point of scroll wheel shooting.

If it's an advantage or not is not the question (I don't think it's very usable). Just because "anyone can do it" doesn't make it NOT a silly exploit. At the same time you can't say that something which is a part of the game settings is cheating.

It's taking advantage of looked-past, non-intended game settings to make the game left click for you faster than humanly possible. It's not bannable or actual cheating (technically) but if you do the same thing with a macro instead, suddenly it is. That's why it's dumb and should just be removed from the game.

With the engine updates there will also be quality of life changes that will hopefully remove the need for config file edits.
While allowed for now, keep in mind that BattlEye might flag it - so tread carefully.

NTEC need to be nerfed as soon as possible, that's insanely to see how these players jump to weird angle and turning their heads getting those shots on full mag. That's the weapon itself whom not having a bullets spread.

"Not having spread"... that's just incorrect. There's plenty of spread. Especially when you jump like that.

It's not like it's the weapon that gives them the ability to strafe jump a corner while leaning and aiming at you.

  4. Check if your anti virus has any events from APB in your anti virus events history. In that case restore any APB objects from quarantine and add exception rules for the entire APB folder. Restart. Then run repair from the launcher. Then try running the game again. May work, may not work.

The server merge was about 4 years ago so I assume that the people who hasn't logged in since then probably won't even care if they have to change name or not if they ever come back.

    Thoughts?

This is a good idea, but some accounts has been banned since the merge and are logging back in just about now as the first unban wave has been done and a second one is about to roll out too.

There are truly unused character names though, registered incorrectly as "in use" by the system. Example: I made a name change which I regretted. Payed for another name change to change back to that name, system says name is taken. I'm pretty sure it isn't. I think there are plenty of names like this registered as taken which are not taken at all. I wrote a ticket to support to see if that name could be released. We'll see what they reply.

  6. You guys probably know this but Bitdefender quarantines the APB exe, APB_BE exe ("Potentially malicious application") and several other files in the /assetcache folder (about 20 for me) unless the entire APB OTW install folder is added to exclusions list beforehand.

  7. From what I've learned about how effective Battleye is, long term undetected cheating basically stops with that. There won't be anyone who can comfortably get away with cheating without having to worry. When the public pay-cheat developers have developed bypasses for Battleye in the past (at least in the cases I've heard), they have gotten detected so fast that it has proven to the cheat developers that it simply isn't worth it. It's a pure loss for them (time vs money). This is when they move to having expensive cheats open only for a small group, enabling them to still make a good amount of money and in theory avoiding detection in a better way. But these cheats get detected often too from what I've seen.

With a properly configured FF alongside, it means that even if someone manages to bypass an actual BE detection temporarily, they still can't ramp up their cheat settings very much. So FF is a perfect compliment to client-side anti cheat. Running FF alone though is not a good idea at all, as we've seen, even if it would be well configured, because then everyone can still use almost any cheat they like and just cheat enough to increase their performance to a certain level without getting flagged by FF, which is the case with for instance Battlefield 1 (Battlefield 4 has PB also). FF was marketed as the nightmare of cheat developers, but it's the opposite when it comes to games protected by FF alone. Cheat developers then don't need to to worry about actual detections, meaning the cheats are easier to make, maintain and sell, which leads to a much higher number of low key cheaters. The ban responsibility then falls on the cheat users, which is also perfect for the cheat developers.

TL;DR: With both a good client side anti cheat like BE and a well configured FF alongside, there is no need to worry much. It's one of the best anti cheat combinations you can have (if you don't count custom anti cheat).

At worst you could ajust your monitor settings in the meantime but I doubt it'd help much 😕

That doesn't do anything I'm afraid.

What would help all colorblind people is if you could simply select a different color for the friendly and enemy nametag.
