  1. Disregarding the topic of collision for a second, you can't disregard a streamer's benefit to player count just because a game has a problem retaining players. Anyways for example, when an advertising agency brings in millions of people to an event and it turns out the event is shit and people leave you don't say the agency was useless. The event coordinators need to fix the problems with the event so that the agency's efforts aren't gone to waste. You also don't have the event coordinators fix the issues and then sit twiddling their thumbs hoping that more people come. The coordinators need to have the agency reach out again. It would be foolish for the event coordinators to think that the advertising agency was useless. Also, Fortnite can thank streamers for its absolutely explosive player count. The issue isn't simply the problem of players accidentally crashing into each other in vehicles during missions. It's specifically griefing that makes a large aspect of the game, missions, virtually impossible to complete. You could say it's basically game breaking What do you think about a very small dead-zone around active mission stationary objectives (phone booth) where outside mission player collisions don't affect in-mission players. Surely that satisfies both sides of the fence since people still get to collide everywhere except for .01% of the map.

Hmm what if they implement a "dead-zone" around active mission objectives (phone booths, store fronts, etc) that makes players in vehicles outside of the mission not have collision with players that are in the mission. That way people that like the chaos of running into people as they go to the objective still have their fun, and also the players in the mission can complete the objective. Both sides win
  3. I understand that there are players that enjoy crashing into people and I respect their desire to keep that uniqueness. There are also players out there that enjoy a bit of competitiveness in their game, so I would be glad if LO introduces a revamped competitive mode that satisfies the desire of those players to play without intentional outside interference.
  4. I'm curious, let's say you're in a mission 4v4 and a random griefer, how would you manage to not let the griefer know where the objective is? If you "lure" the guy away with one of your players then you'd be fighting 3v4. I also wonder what the turn around time for reports were. Were they hours or days?
  5. Summit is an example, the situation could apply to any other streamer out there. Delay feature also doesn't work, as it was what many streamers utilized but it's not an effective solution. It may work for games that has matchmaking that places you in a phased area or in a seperate server, but not in APB. The griefer can still locate the victim in multiple ways, and once they do it's hard to shake them off. This issue is something we should all care about as it affects the playerbase. You don't have to be a content creator to get griefed, you just need a sadist player to decide on a whim to add you to their friends list, and grief you whenever you get on. If the amount of players ever grow, that would require the GM team to grow in order to cover as many districts as possible and could end up being expensive. I agree that confusing phase-able vehicles and non would be an issue, but my idea was just a suggestion and I would hope that if LO were to implement something like that that they would handle the consequences gracefully. Either way as strong as the opinions are for or against griefing are, it seems like the developers have already mentioned that they plan on doing something. As long as other players outside a mission can't stop a mission from being completed, I don't care how they accomplish it.
  6. You are ignoring the entire point of the topic. But I digress. You were implying that the issue of griefers only occur to players that have higher rank, and thus would require the reroller to rank up in order to reach their victim again. It is entirely possible that a lower ranked player is getting griefed. It is obvious that there are no "new player" servers, but where do "new players" go first? The "Low Threat" servers. There are none there at the moment but that is because the game was virtually dead a few weeks ago. You have to take into consideration new players that will be populating those servers whenever this game manages to get more players.
  7. You need to keep in mind that a lot of new players either come from advertisements or watching a video on youtube or stream on twitch. A lot of gamers out there don't dig deep in the internet through thousands of games out there, they often see it from somewhere. I was simply using Summit as an example, please don't have a preconceived notion that I think that only big name streamers are of help. As for why his viewers aren't here it's either they were put off before even installing or one of the many issues with APB pushed them away after trying the game. However, you don't fill a bucket that has a hole with more water. You plug the hole (aka fix the issues), but in the case of APB where are you going to get more water (aka players)?
  8. What part of my reply do you believe is a straw man argument? Anywho new and early rank players often get better at least somewhat, over time. If you snuff out those players before they get their foot on the ground then there's a problem. Can you clarify on what you're conveying here?
  9. Every multiplayer game has a lot of low ranked players, including APB. It's not a smart business decision to abandon those players. I was also using the pioneer as an example, there are security trucks, vans, and fresnos that are very hard to move.
  10. Griefers will simply create new accounts and circumvent IP bans with VPNs. Not only that but admins won't get around to the report for hours or more likely days.
  11. Removing those would not solve the problem. Pioneers have a lot of power to ram and are really heavy to push off the point with other cars, even with another pioneer. Griefers will simply use cars like that instead.
  12. I would have to disagree. Collision is what enables people to grief, in fact it's really one of the only few ways for people to grief people in missions. There are annoying themes and attention grabbing outfits but those won't likely impede your chances of winning the mission.

  14. I disagree that there should be a selectable "passive mode". I believe that people should still be able to bump around others that aren't in missions. Really we just need a change to how collision works for players that are in missions.
  15. There was a time half a decade ago when APB was an unknown game to most of the gaming community. It was also a time when the idea of a GTA-esk cops and robbers game was still very relevant (GTA 5 released in 2013). This was also a time when the game could have taken advantage of Twitch, a powerful streaming platform that has the ability for a single person to expose games to tens of thousands of viewers. A very popular streamer, in 2013 streamed APB and genuinely thought it was cool idea of a game. Unfortunately shortly after him and his friends finished customizing their characters and started a mission they were bombared by mobs of griefers. As a previous streamer myself who has experienced griefing and had to give up streaming to play, I knew the streamer wouldn't enjoy the game if he'd stream it. Not surprisingly, griefers constantly pushed him and his team around with cars during gunfights, pit maneuvered them as they reached objectives, and sat in cars over and on top their objectives. It was painful watching his stream, to say the least. Every day he would get on to try to get some games in but would continue to get griefed again. It got to the point where he had to stop streaming, to his tens of thousands of viewers, in order to play the game. Can you imagine the impression that his viewers got from that? Being forced to stop streaming, which is the streamer's livelihood and source of income, just to enjoy a game that he genuinely wanted to play? If I were one of his viewers nothing would convince me to ever touch APB. If the streamer continued to play and stream APB longer than he did more of his viewers would have played, possibly purchasing things from the ARMAS marketplace and producing more revenue to the game. Now while I acknowledge that there are a plethora of other issues in APB that would have made many of the new players quit, there are bound to have been many of them that would have stuck through. Regardless, with a new company picking up APB that hopes to make a lot of changes to improve this game I highly encourage that changing how collision works in this game be one of the first. This would allow content creators and streamers to have an easier time to enjoy the game and share their experiences, and in turn foster growth. After all without the power of multi-million dollar advertisements, word of mouth will be key in bringing in new players. The issue of objective griefing isn't specific to just streamers though. It can happen to anyone. You beat someone and they're a sore loser? You lost and the guy is just a bully and wants to rub salt in the wounds? Maybe some random guy got up one day and decided to grief anyone they see? It could happen to players in a green district where one green thinks that the other has to be a cheater. Objective griefing can happen to anyone, and due to how easy it is to do it it can be done on a whim. There are several ways that the company can decide to handle this. One example that satisfies both sides of the fence is to have a zone in a small area around active mission objectives (phone booths, store fronts, doors, etc) that makes vehicles outside of the mission not collide with players inside it. This way players that enjoy the chaos of crashing into people on the way to objectives get to keep their fun, while still allowing for players in the mission to actually complete the object. I would like to hear your thoughts, do you think griefing hurts the marketability of APB to popential players? How would you suppose Little Orbit fix this issue?
