Wouldn't the ability to use whatever skin you wanted make them even more worth having though?  Nothing wrong with just adding the option.  Nothing negative could come from it, but it would make a lot of people happy if it happened.  I doubt anyone would get too bent out of shape about this.

Nothing's stopping you from using the default skin on a legendary, and IDK how it hurts for there to be more options.

I don't agree. I think that having the skin not locked is lowering the value of it, as it doesn't have anymore a unique style, and every player just customizes it like any other normal weapon. From my point of view, a legendary should always be recognized in the hands of a player when used, thats why the unique, appariscent skin that fits the weapon.

  2. Enforcers aren't even real cops, why would they need sirens in the first place? They are only a fun gimmick, but I honestly wouldn't use them regardless of how good they worked.

If anything, I wish you could use the lights and the siren indipendently.

urgh, no it won't fix anything. It will eventually make people quite because mechanics are forced on them, that's not how games of this kind work.

The only thing that would kinda work is that a gold in bronze would be automatically kicked after let's say 5 missions. but Making them lose the ability to play missions won't have any Positive effects, none at all.

I appreciate your opinion, but I'm not sure I see your point at all..? Are you saying that dethreaters would quit because they can't play in bronze anymore?

    EVEN BETTER THEN! :classic_biggrin:

  4. The spawn system definitely needs a rewamp. I don't find car spawner that flawed, instead I find extremely bad how you can predict the position of the opponents based on which spawnpoints are active. I honestly think this is an issue, the spawn system shouldn't even give fixed points, it should just put you back in game at a random position nearby (lets say within 100m) where you last died.

That's why only the top players should be recruited, not yukon gamers or hvr mains or overall any people of that sort. Only legitimately skilled people who are neutral and care about the balance, not releasing more broken weapons which they can abuse. With all respect I think that releasing more weapon types which later could get reskins would be a nice idea. I can't say how many times I was sad that I only have either an OCA or PMG to choose from when I want to play smg, or pretty much only ntec or star when I wanna play AR. There should be more free weapon types which could get reskins in the future. The game is very stale at this point because we have been using the same stuff all these years.

Or... you know... have players of all ranges testing instead of using the feedback of a single type of player? You can't really balance something based only on the way -some- play when the majority of the community is composed of average players.

that won't fix de-threating, as dope suggested before, make all districts open conflict. That removes the threat.

Open conflict doesn't prevent veterans to fight newbies. This fix does. At least partially. And makes de-threating not worth the effort, so why not? better than nothing 🙂

  7. Just a question coming from someone who doesn't even know APB has stats... but what is even the deal about it?

If you were banned, you lost the account. You are left with zero. But now you might have it back... So regardless of the stats being kept or resetted, it's already a great reward. I don't see any "double punishment" as some say.

  8. With laptop I don't think you will get anything decent without spending some. Most builds are not meant for gaming, and those that do are usually at $ 1500-2000.

Regardless, I would suggest to look at ASUS models: they tend to have fairly good performance without being overpriced. My old laptop was an ASUS N56Z (at the time paid about 1.2k) and it could run APB smoothly at around 90fps without advanced launcher, just default settings.

While I agree that Anubis right now should be buffed a little bit, I don't think that removing is special crosshair would be enough to bump him up.
Anubis has A TON of problems:
    -bad damage per shot

    -bad hard damage

-can't lean out of a car with it

-bad dropoff range for a sniper

    -bad crosshair

I would probably make the crosshair a little smaller or semi-transparent, give the weapon a more consistent damage per shot, something around 400 like DMR, then maybe either give it a small range buff or the ability to rean out of the car.
Another good idea would be to have a "Spotter" function on the crosshair, so even if the weapon is shit you can support your team pretty nicely.

You actually can lean out of cars. Not that it helps anyway.

no bronze learns how to play by a gold dropping a nuke on them

    only ashes would remain

as for this fix idea - i doubt they can do anything with all the spaghetti coding they have to go through

so adding more spaghetti just to fix things so they can fix things isnt ideal which is also why new major updates arent planned but possibly something small like a new outfit or something when they can

Being able to do it or not is matter for LO.

I still propose it and hope, I still think this kind of hotfix is way more important than adding new content, as dethreaters continuously cause damage to the game (most of new players ragequit because of them).

  11. I think a great point of the game is right the permanent world where all players encounter each other while doing their own activities. It is right the unexpected crash with other players that keeps each match unique: if you remove that, you make the game grow boring quickly.

Instead of changing an already functional gameplay (if ignoring the rare griefers purposely trying to harm other players, which anyway are an entirely different issue easily solved by more present GMs), I would instead make a new mode just for those who want pure competitive play without interferences from other players. Heck, I would do also the opposite too: a mode where everyone can shoot everyone regardless of being in a mission or not.

  12. You misunderstand; the suggestion is not about how the threat system should be.

It's merely a quick patchwork to the current mechanic, preventing dethreaters to cause further damage and allowing new players to breath and play while a new better threat system gets worked on.

  13. I remember suggesting this years ago, but of course under G1 domain it was often impossible to receive real consideration even for the most needed adjustments. I'm sure now things may

First of all, lets remember that Little Orbit already stated they plan to have the Threat system reworked, if not completely scrapped and rebuilt to function properly. But since this may be a long term project that we won't see efficiently in use for a while, I think it would be helpful if they could adopt a faster, easier solution to get rid of this exploit asap.

    Current Situation:

A player (normally Gold Threat) purposely exploits the threat system to join normally inaccessible districts (of Bronze Threat) in order to play missions against easier opponents, trolling and/or griefing with the higher skill and rank obtained. As a consequence, new players are pushed away from the game due to the immediate bad experience, only promoting the wrong idea of "p2w" and "cheaters" in the game.

    Solution:

Disable mission matchmaking for players whose threat doesn't match the one of the district.

    > Optional: Prompt a message warning to change districts to correct ones, with an auto-kick if the player doesn't in 5 mins.

Since the threat level is updated after a mission ends, simply locking the "Ready" status when their threat is increased will prevent the players from causing any further damage. This means that:

    1) if the player is a true gold, he either has to keep playing bad (fair for the bronzes) or he will continuously lose the ability to play missions (and be kicked), rendering the action of dethreating not worth it;

    2) if the player is a silver who got lucky, he will probably dethreat by normal means after moving to the correct district;

In case you begin asking "what about players who keep changing between the two threats", lets first understand that the current threats are incorrectly being altered by the dethreaters: a silver would not keep getting gold and back if he didn't bounce between fighting bronzes and golds. With such simple fix, the districts will begin balancing themself autonomously given enough time.

While it isn't a solution to the issue of the threats, it can quickly address some of the main problems currently faced for the time it takes to create a new proper system.

Feel free to share opinions! Criticism is welcome.

This. I too, am curious about this. Which would render my unquestionable perfect solution unecessary.
