It really isnt that difficult to deal with DDoS attacks. And a mitigation service that allows the servers to be able to logged into but nearly unplayable without disruption isnt an acceptable alternative. Packet verification services have existed for the last 10 years for a reason. I doubt anyone would complain at an extra 10 MS to have a playable game. Additionally, the GM in Social confirmed yesterday it is not a DDoS attack and has heard no verification of it from the networking team. Nor did they acknowledge that there is even currently an issue. Hints this posts creation atleast confirming that they even acknowledge there is an issue in jericho beyond that shrugged off response from Matt in the QnA.

Texas could be correct. Its Mid or South central from what I can tell. Texas is actually a really great hub for the majority of the states and doesnt have huge congestion. Sadly people outside of the states will run into some issues getting routed through the West coast( LA area then to texas) and East coast (NY to Chicago then down to texas) both offering up large amounts of congestion to bog up the connection.

Well sadly right now Jericho is in ruin. The server has been glitching hard for atleast a week now. Some people claim its being DDoS'd. I spoke with a GM in social about it. To which i was given a lawyer response not confirming or denying that there is even a issue other then "Networking hasnt said there is any problems" Only command ive seen that might assist you is the /fps command. shows a few different sets of ms between the server and you. Given the ping im receiving. I would assume its currently in Kansas City. But the most likely hub for servers is in Chicago but their network has been cluttered for years.

Are we going to get a confirmation that LO realizes there is an issue on Jericho? Game is in shambles for about a week now and i'd really like to get to play a mission without a car locking up a direction, teleporting multiple feet forward or backward. Cleanly open doors. Or even get in a firefight without people teleporting/dodging like its the matrix. There isnt a player ive spoke too that hasnt had this issue. Would be nice for LO to at least acknowledge there is a problem and at minimum give the server a restart in the mean time until they actually resolve the issue.

I could see that point of view. And you are very right that all collisions are not griefing nor is the griefing issue really that prevalent. And again you are right that APB isnt really a competitive game as a whole but at the same time. A mission APB really kind of is. You vs them in a world of chaos. There are huge amounts of variables in the game to really make it a "ranked" style. Really when i think back about that car ghosting thing. I remember just a few times that it ruined my mission but there were maybe 3 times it happened that it even effected anything. And the biggest one was a Defuse/Plant mission where a guy kept bumping people that were trying to defuse it canceling it. Which is a griefing with a car issue more than a collision issue. So thinking deeper about it. i agree with you, no ghosting.

The entire point of your topic is you want Summit to come back and your sad that you had to stop streaming this game because your viewers are a$$holes. How is that anyone elses problem? Or even more importantly how is that a problem everyone should care about? Or, Use the delayed viewing feature of your stream that was specifically built for this exact issue. I ignored that portion of your issue because its already not an issue. New players as a whole ARE the griefers just having fun with the game. The whole issue comes down to support in dealing with the evidence and having an on-server GM to be able to react to the issue on the spot and warn the player, or if needed kick them from the server and/or apply a temp ban. The other alternative is allow players in missions to ghost through other players vehicles only while in mission. But that wont resolve a player from taking an NPC car and smashing you with it. Unless you make those ghostable. Then you have a case of a huge pile of cars, some you can drive through. some make your car explode ultimately not really solving anything other then adding confusion and prayer that you can ghost through a car.

Completely disregarding the summit conversation. Games like APB are in. Especially if they kick out a Battle Royale game mode. The game will blow up on its own with a few well placed ads. And even then, the game as a whole is getting quite good media with its buyout from G1. I would imagine LO will do some ad campaigns here and there that will consistently boost the playerbase. But we're not likely to see many(if any) until they get the game at a very stable state. Otherwise they dont generate more players, they generate more support tickets. Just to reiterate. How many people were on APB Jericho prior to the buyout? 40? 50? Now just yesterday there were nearly 800 players adding all of the Jericho instances alone. Word of mouth goes far.

I know nothing of summit other then his CSGO stuff and im not a fan personally. But i very much agree that catering to streamers is a very slippery slope. I don't know what he has or hasnt said regarding this game nor do i really care. But i would be interested to hear why you wouldnt be interested in being able to ghost through player vehicals while in a mission?

Griefing as a whole is already a strawman. As the vast majority of the players dont have this issue. ESPECIALLY early in their game experience. Then you mentioned Rerollers doing it, Which is already a subset of a subset of players and an even further subset of an issue for players. So everything about your response was a straw man. Nor did I say anywhere that they should ignore new players or "snuff out" any new players. Additionally there is no "new player" server. There are "Low Threat" servers. Which by far (especially now) not populated by new players. So to answer your question. You're entire reply was based on caring about what only a few players do.

"Enjoyable" is a little double edged. The amount of Lagging/Desync currently in Jericho is pretty rough. But yeah, its been fairly cheat free from what I can tell and ive won a vast majority of my missions. -
Exactly this. I too enjoy that having the game feel alive is important and a reason im drawn too it. But while in a mission it could be frustrating. But what if only while in a mission, you cant collide with other player vehicals that are not in the mission? all passives remain the same (kinda goes back to garbage truck issue but still)
-
Well I assumed we had moved on from the removing the vehicle comment but i guess not. This issue comes down to griefing or removing player interaction. You either play GTA and play alone. Or you play apb and all the ups and downs that come with it. I agree that a passive mode would be nice at least while in missions. Additionally, New players/early rank players rarely spend money on a game. ( i work marketing for another game, so this isn't an assumption) While it is important to not abandon them. But its the curse of being really bad at a video game. If you cant get out of the worst of the worst in terms of servers. You are bound to have rerolls. As soon as people can get over the fact that "rerolls" will ALWAYS exist, be it in a free game or paid game. The sooner we can get into actually resolving issues for the other 99% of the player base. Short of going to their home and blowing up their computers/consoles and draining all of their money from their bank accounts to prevent a new pc and making all of their friends hate them to prevent them from loaning them their PC. Nothing will solve that issue so lets stop grasping at the straw-man case and deal with the majority.

I havn't personally had issues with cheaters in this game. There has been roughly 2 instances where after 300 hours of playing where i suspected someone a little bit. We still won using teamwork. So they probably werent. But maybe we're all in different servers? -
If they do infact resolve the deranking/up ranking issues. New accounts will be irrelevent unless you are completely trash and end up in their server again. Additionally, they wont own a pioneer to grief you with. And if your not playing in nub-tastic server. They'll have to re-rank up repeatedly. to then seek you out and grief you. I wont say it wont happen. but griefing in large margins would stop. It would also give mods/support time to look into it.
-
I mean i know that recording isnt exactly accessible to everyone. But in the end, griefing is in the rule book. its up to LO to uphold the rule book or throw it out the window. Video evidence is pretty hard to refute. The question is what is considered 'excessive' Which imo i would consider the act of persuading the person to grief them. if u hit each other passing by thats one thing. but following them around for a while ramming them cuz your mad, should be a 24h ban so they can take some time to grow up and cool off. With Mods in server, this should be fairly swift.
