Extended Server Maintenance (Monday 4/29/2019)
ChrisKrypton replied to Lixil's topic in General Discussion Archive
Just stand by, the item loss may not be a loss, the servers are rolled back at the moment and we do not know if its permanent. Items appear lost because your logging into the game expecting a saved game from 4/29 but what your seeing is what you had on 4/18 or "around that time". -

Guys, I love yas, I really do. BUT backing up the latest server save was probably the easiest part of the whole process. Server is back up and that's wonderful but we are 2 weeks rolled back roughly, I don't expect you guys to update it now as I am sure your exhausted and have earned some well deserved rest and maybe a pint but giving us an answer on this now is just good customer service not something that needs to be worked on so please get somebody on the horn and let us know if this launch is permanent. I am assuming since the game did not shut down over data corruption there is a good chance the wrong save was loaded and amidst this week's problems the thought of which server save gets launched quickly evaporated, but we should have a response to it ASAP so people don't add work onto a 2 week save and then lose it again due to rolling up. -

They do and they suck patootie for the most active players. Before I go trying to make up the 2 weeks lost or so, I want to make sure this is the final launch and that they are not going to roll up to a more current server save. Someone needs to Bat Phone Matt lol. -

Thank you guys for your hard work. As much as I hate to press this question right now but we need to know if this 2 week roll back is permanent before we proceed and add any work on to it. As for shop items check your guys buy history on the web site, they can easily see where they are rolled back to, and see what you purchased in between. @ LO as exhausted as you are and I appreciate all the gangs hard work, we do need to know now if the live server is the final launch at the new data center because there is a lot of progress lost, and would hate to start adding work again only to later get pushed up to an updated server save, thank you. -

Here is another stupid idea of mine....... Would it make sense to load a bare bones version of the game so the servers launch quicker for testing....Then once it's functioning reload the backup? -

Thanks Matt and the crew for hanging in there, perhaps this is good learning curve for future plans too. -

It could have been worse, they could have just given you a false answer as to what was really going on, they admitted they are stumped, but not defeated. Amateurism if that is what you want to call it, fine but i'll take honest amateurism over regular Pro BS that you would get anywhere else, even worse it could be in the hands of a PRO company that would just kill the project right here and now as investing another dime into what you love logging into is not worth it to them. I understand your frustration, but at the same time respect honesty for what it is, any normal company would have found some other reason as to why it was "out of their hands", generally speaking people are so used to being fed the finest spoon fed BS today they are unsure how to react when honesty comes their way. -

Looks like it has been left on to see if it self corrects maybe? Login server seems to work, it's the hand off to the world server that must be mucking up, or perhaps as Matt said it's dumping the request due to no response. What players are seeing is the client dumping us on to the alternate login screen where a world is selected. In our case the only one is Alec Masters which shows offline because the world server is taking too long to respond so the client just shows Offline. Perhaps if not already done see if there is an old G1 contact that might have some insight or harness 3rd party assistance. I know i've been there myself before. -

I am Tech by trade, by not an IT tech so I may sound dumb when I say this..... Perhaps it is literally loading the WHOLE database rather than prioritizing data correctly like a hybrid drive functions. Hybrid drives store more recent accessed data in the SSD and the least used data is stored on a larger Disk type hard drive. I am not saying you guys use hybrid drives but I assume when using massive ammounts of data like that a certain ammount of prioritization of the data takes place. Or maybe if some sort of prioritazation software is used on how the data is handled, it needs some time to re learn what data is important and throw the rest on the back burner? :: Shrugs :: just throwing darts in the dark here Hardware failures can drive ya nutz too because it worked 5 minutes ago. -

They already said they would take care of us for the downtime, kind of hard to talk about in game compensation when you can't even get in game yet. Additionally the game servers are still not up so you can't even begin to gauge what sort of compensation is reasonable. Would a 3 day premium extension make you happy for 5 days of downtime if they gave it to you now? Probably not so worry about it once it's back online and then things can be assessed. Like everyone else I do hope they come back on soon, I am going to guess and this is MY assumption. Some of the hardware likely did'nt make it to it's new home soundly for FE and is probably causing all of this. -

Step 1: Data center needs to respond to a technical problem ticket Step 2: Solution is provided to Step 1's problem Step 3: Task 1 Step 4: Task 2 Step 5: Server spools up 'OR' see step 1 Hello Tech team which step are we on :D? Thank! -

It's not about the money, time wasted, whats the recompensation, I hate the sun, I am depressed, It's raining out, I want my chips back and how much premium time will I get back. Chances are any company will always make that up to it's customers one way or another, at least company's who care and LO surely shows it even with they're limited staff. The part that gets lost here I think is the not knowing, so folks are checking in over and over to see if it is back up. To be fair LO has kinda given many responses and some insight to what they are dealing with. It's just that people like to hear, see and know new information even if it's the same information as to where LO may be with this process. Kind of how an anxious boss might be asking you how a new project is coming along and you provide your updated explanation. Naturally companies turtle up in times like these, and like to keep things confidential. Therefore no information surfaces and people check back to find the server down and no new information so the trolling and memes start lol. If you notice once an official statement is made, people quiet down for a few hours, people like to know whats happening even if it's nothing new. I will say the more LO is willing to share on the process, the happier people will be. Even if it's embarassing that an engineer spilled coffee on one of the towers, but at least now I know it will be a couple days untill new parts get overnighted etc etc etc. As for me I was on vacation this week and was looking forward to make FE "some" of that down time, no biggie Sh*t happen but where are we on the process, what's getting stuck I think is what people want to know. -

Anything new? Should we leave any expectation of them coming back up today?
