In January of 2018 there was a forced password reset on all of the accounts, which is most likely the reason you were unable to sign in. You mention playing through steam, based on that I would assume you don't know the email address for the GamersFirst account that was used. The best course of action would be to contact our support team to get the password reset. For that to be possible you will need to be able to prove that you are the rightful owner of the account.
