Nah man, the programmers can program so they must be magicians too, they'll just say a few words, pull a sheet up, and there will be a stack of money there. That's how it works, right?

Exactly. They all trained under Harry Potter.

So, they think about how better grab your money, instead of fixing the game. What a nice devs.

You do know that companies need money in order to run right? What, you think all this work is done by magic pixie dust that fairy god mothers just sprinkled?

Ok the problem with this post is, you don't work at Little Orbit, you can only make suggestions from the outside looking in. Everything you said is the cliche "easier said then done"

All you had to say was "I don't agree with this update I suggest they prioritize bigger more meaningful updates instead" and go on with your day.

All this "the game is dying" "fix your shitty game" stuff doesn't help anyone and has been said hundreds of times.

Sure you can look at steam population stats or can't play a game during the day because of low population.

But let's be honest here this game is 8 years old. And developer support dropped years ago. The only people who play the game are real fans of the game.

Little orbit is trying their best to revive an 8 year old computer game and since they've taking over they made weapons balances, server stability, a new weapon, trading systems, and now a holiday day event. Just because YOU don't like all the updates, that doesn't make them invalid

At the end of the day this shit takes time, and the remarks on using/wasting resources, money they have, and money they are receiving you shouldn't have any opinions on because, again, you don't work at Little Orbit.

Amen to that. People think all changes can be made with little time & money invested when in reality it takes much longer than you think. Also, what may seem like an easy implementation may turn out to become more complicated than what was anticipated. I've seen things happen like that many times in animation production. Im sure game production is no different.

You're either talking about G1's launcher, APB's launcher, Steam, or launchers in general. Three out of 4 I have talked about, you keep telling me I need to read, sorry but read fookin what?

You only mentioned an "application to start an application" and I am the one causing miscommunication? Give some clarity about what you're trying to say if you phrase it ever so poorly or create a context where a reader could extract it from. In case you try to bash on steam, LO and G1 before them alike are only half balling it on steam. Otherwise you'd have the comfort of auto-updating etc, which causes them to keep their own launcher and updating services (Even though steam offers better service there, for free).

Unless you're joking about using any form of OS, you have lost me and it annoys me because it reminds me of talking to all knowing teenagers which can say anything without saying anything. E.g. You know, the stuff! Gawd.

just stop responding. Like I said you have no idea what im talking about.

To patch the game before you start the application. If you meant to say: "why do I need a application to launch an application to launch an application?", then you should have said so.
G1's launcher that launches an APB launcher that launches APB itself, is a bit redundant, but has its own reasons as well. You see, G1 bought a lot a of games rather than making them and probably planned on selling them off later if necessary and as such they didn't implement much personalization to the game when it comes to G1 Features, hence the browser based in game store and such. That way they could easily add features like in game shops without embedding much of it into the game, across many games with the same currency.

I always make sure to read entire threads before posting, please dont assume fault would be at my end preemptively rather than considering discrepancies on your own end in conveying what you mean to say.

    Thanks for clarifying that.

Im not even talking about the G1 Launcher, dude. Your response has nothing to do what I said earlier. Like I said you need to read before responding because clearly you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Steam isn't even an accurate representation of the current pop. Your data is meaningless.

Not really. Who the f still uses G1 launcher.
why do you need do launch an application to launch an application? Hi, welcome to the Redundancy Department of Redundancy.

I would call it a friendly suggestion with reasons stated so Little Orbit can make up their own mind.

The alternative is to have noone care at all.
It's the same suggestion they heard a thousand times. Besides it's not even constructive at all. It doesn't suggest anything.

A lot of newcomers have trouble with the tutorial.
tutorial is not good for newcomers but easy for veterans.
G1 admitted it was  just to get by and a new one was needed.

In either case, you dont need a trainer/trainee. You can just have a program tutorial teach the basics and then players can learn on their own. So we just need a better tutorial system.

Those are some good points. I will try to clarify a bit more.

As for time. Well for something like this it would have to be announced in advance, 3weeks? 1 month? I would say that is the least amount of time to get a sign up for this (trainees/trainers).

As for resources I'm talking about one server dedicated for training the only thing I would say that would require tweaking is that trainers are in "godmode" and their weapons disabled. I don't think that would take eons to accomplish.

A tutorial is all fine and well but it is basically there to teach the basics but for the "meat and potatoes" this is where I think an idea would help.

I mean it's no secret that there are folks in this community that are absolutely not the friendliest sorts to a newcomer. New players are introduced to a tutorial that doesn't help all that much when they are finally in game. You compound that with advanced players that gun them down easily, players on their own team that either ridicule them and in some cases kill them outright after they go through loss after loss and is it any wonder why they leave?

I think something like this idea at least gives a better perspective for new players and maybe might provide some friendships later on that would result in them staying on.
You're asking for a dedicated server, a special select people being god mode with weapons disabled, and im sure more. That takes a lot more resources and time than you think. Especially when they have a lot of other things going on that are higher priority.

I do agree that some people aren't the friendliest to a newcomer. The tutorial is just there to help you understand the basic function of the game and honostly, I think it does a fine job. Even if you had a trainer showing/teaching a trainee how to play, the trainee still would not learn because it takes practice, time, and an active attitude and drive to want to be better. The problem with a lot of people nowadays is that they want to be good fast and they dont want to put in the effort to become proficient. What im trying to say is, you can teach a player anything and everything you want, but they wont learn unless they have that drive.

Well I remember this mentor program from about 6-7 years ago. I know one of the prerequisites was that you had to have a mic and log onto Teamspeak (because let's face it. Who wants to type that much to teach a class?)

I think it could work out for a game like this or I should say I am cautiously optimistic about it, if it is done right. It would take a collaboration from the devs, trainers and trainees to make it work.

For me I see it as a "win-win-win" for everyone involved.

Win for the trainers as their time is going to something that awards them prizes and such (whatever LO deems fair).

Win for the Trainees (and I would throw in bronze and silver players if they wanted to get in on some training but it would all depend on how many golds are willing to train) that they get some much needed help with the mechanics of gameplay and how to strategize in missions.

Win for Little Orbit on a few different fronts. They don't have to put so much time and resources into a project. My thinking is allot a server just for training (I think we have one to spare). They are getting new players to stay in the game and keeping the older players motivated to stay on and get something out of this as well.

I'm not going to say this the best idea out there but when I keep hearing about all these other ideas (and they are good ideas as well) that involve alot of time and resources to accomplish, it would be nice if we had something going on now that would be alot easier to do while we wait for the big changes coming.
I dont think this is a good idea at all. For one, it would require a lot of time and resources to just even start this and also to find people, etc. Second, I wouldn't want some random player joe to teach a bunch of people when a program can do a simple tutorial and the player can learn on their own. It all just seems really redundant and a waste of resources.

1st. Quit your drama-stirring bullcrаp, you're not being a part of a solution, rather, you're just interpreted as a whiny little bitсh, just like 90% of this commmunity.

2nd. Nobody gives a fuсk about your steam charts. Not everyone here plays APB through steam.

Dude amen brother. There's too many threads that are nonconstructive like this one that just complain about APB and its possibility of dying. How are you helping anyone?
