  1. Ive submitted a ticket, but I have NO idea how long that will take to get a response from so I thought Id try here too.

Ive played this game for over a decade and have never had any issues.  No lag, no crashing, nothing.

I recently upgraded my Graphics card, and My 2nd monitor.   Since then every time I log in to play I crash at LEAST once and its always in the middle of a mission 😞

This is what the error box says when I crash:

    m_VertexBuffer->Lock(m_nNextVertexData, Size, &pData, VertexLockFlags) failed
     at Src\D3D9DrawPrimitiveUPWrapper.cpp:293
     with error D3DERR_DEVICELOST

    History:
    01:48:39 - Log: Log file closed, 27/06/22 21:48:39

All drivers are up to date, I tried limiting the framerate on the game in the nvidia control panel - Still crash

tried turning off the second monitor - Still crash

ive messed with every graphics setting in game - still crash

Tonight Ive crashed 4 times in a row in less than an hour and im losing my mind here.  Anyone have any insight into what that error is?

    here are my specs:

    Intel i7-6700K 8 CPUs at 4.0 GHz

    32 gig ddr 2400 ram

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

    1TB ssd

    help? 😞

  2. the population has been declining and is the worst its been.  As others have said, we simply do not have a server population that would support this.  We didnt have a population high enough to support threat segregated districts.

premades arent even an issue.  I barely see groups of players queuing together.  90% of the time what you're seeing is people who are solo and pressing K and the game throws those same people into a group together because, theres barely any people to put you in a mission group with when it starts.  last few days ive played i kept getting grouped with the same people over and over by the game for missions after pressing K.  solo queuing will not prevent this.  You're still going to get up against the same people over and over because again, server pop.  If theres only 5-10 people on the other side, you will inevitably be against the same people frequently.

  3. theres maybe 40 people TOTAL on jericho on a good day.  20 crims 20 cops. A majority of the time its like 10/10.  If they reenabled threat locked districts, it would be a bronze district with like 3 cops 4 crims, the crims probably ram raiding and not readying up or 1v1 missions,  and the others would just dethreat to get into the district.  Our server pop doesnt support threat locked districts anymore.  You would have nobody to play against.

This will certainly help with the dethreating issue and, although I am not quite optimistic regarding it, with Jericho's population issue, however, it will inevitably have a big impact on the bronze/silver part of the community and they make the majority of the current population. Time will tell whether or not this was a wise move.

this game has had threat segregation removed before.  It was an absolute mistake.  Thats why they changed it back.  This isnt going to help Jericho at all, but be the final nail in the coffin.

Player count doesnt matter right now but it does after LO is done with the engine and did their ad campagne. If they cant hold the playerbase then we can assume all the wild stuff but right now it says nothing.

I wouldnt count on the engine upgrade.  Not sure why people are still holding on hope for it...

    Merged.

There are some people making a living out of streaming APB!  They should just take collision away from people not in a mission once a mission starts,  this would solve all the issues. I think this would too hard for the the current dev team😂.  If people are purposely griefing they should get a permanent ban, I believe there is a streamer who is known within the community that received a permanent ban recently for griefing.

there is literally nobody "making a living" streaming this game...

Surely they must be close, seeing as last year they wer so close as to where Matt said it'd be weeks if not months.

his january update said that the current team could not get the upgrade in a working state and that they would have to outsource the work and hire some engineers to work on it.  Literally dont hold your breath or count on the engine upgrade ever coming into fruition.

There was literally a playable BETA, which improved quite a bit.
The question is when will we get it tho.

    From January Update:

"For APB 2.1, it's become obvious that we don't currently have all the resources we need in-house to properly evaluate and solve the remaining issues. We have done 5 Open Beta tests, and while there has been a lot of hard work and some progress, it's not enough to meet our goals. To that end, we are in the process of signing deals with some Unreal 3.5 consultants that specialize in performance captures, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending specific optimizations that will work for the APB engine."

At least give us functioning servers. NA is all about who gets the least packet loss. EU had high latency but at least when you get a hitmarker it means you hit the player.

Seriously though. You're paying for 16+ servers in the US, when only 2 are populated at most. Replace East and West with a central location, like in Kansas, Oklahoma, or Texas. This will cut it down to 8 servers (2 per threat level). You can cut it down to 4 by removing green and gold districts. Those districts are rarely used. Fight club really doesn't need new server spin-up with the current population. You can get it down to 7 servers (4 action, 2 fight, 1 social). This means less cost per server, or more importantly, better servers at the same cost.

If you can't change the current infrastructure, removing east or west and upgrading to servers with higher CPU core clocks and more memory bandwidth would cut out a lot of the packet loss issues. Right now the /latencytest shows server tickrate spikes worse than G1's test on AWS. Those tests were done 4+ years ago. Hardware has only gotten better, yet the current servers are somehow worse.

There are never 2 populated servers on jericho.  At max its barely 1 half full district.

im getting bored of waiting for the new engine update, our ancestors didnt fight for our freedom so i could wait for a update for a dead game.

You're bored?  Mr. JoinedFebuary2021.  Imagine waiting for the engine update since it was promised in 2012.  Next.

Peak time for EU and NA are different due to timezone, So if you were to join EU during the night for you it's probably going to be dead.

likewise of course NA population is going to die out the game lacks content, what are you suppose to do after you max rank? there's literally nothing going on for them to progress next. Once they log in and face the same players over and over again to the point it becomes so repetitive and boring players lose interest they just quit or rarely play. It seems pointless to continue playing.

APB Reloaded is a decade game and over those years it rarely changed, not even a new Map or at least expand the current maps for WF or FN. Engine update? looks poorly done and long way to go, nothing extra came with the engine update other than new contacts...

They not getting enough growth from new players so they could be a potential long time APB player and these days it's harder to attract new players to continue playing.

There's probably still some low lifers from NA still playing the game 24/7 they literally don't sleep.

If you merge NA to EU, 80% of the Jericho player base would have quit. Only the guys who play the game 24/7 will benefit them and the others cannot play during EU peak time or unbearable latency.  They already Lost 90% of the Asia player base when they merge Han to EU, Oceania player base is somewhat extinct there's probably only 2-8 active players atm, they probably got more Brazilian players than NA players in Jericho lol.

ive been maxed out on multiple characters for years.   The game has the FUN factor  right, and you dont need progression to want to play.  I do agree lack of NEW maps or content is making it a tad stagnant but having literally noone to play against makes it just not worth it.

Also ive been logging in throughout the day and never had issues getting op on EU but NA is just dead.

I havent had any latency issues thus far.  Been working fine for me.

Are you referring to the mythical engine upgrade?  I wouldnt hold my breath, theyve been promising it to us "next quarter" since 2012.  The new engine isnt going to magically save the game either im not sure why people are under the impression its going to do some sort of voodoo and bring this game back to life.  With the pandemic, and all the issues the current team is having with the engine upgrade (they cant even do it and they have to outsource it to find someone that CAN make it work) im not too optimistic that it will ever see the light of day.  They could have built an entire new APB game in the amount of time theyve worked at trying to make that engine work with APB.   So Matt said he was only going to market the game AFTER the engine upgrade, and hes already stated his team cant handle it...so....in the meantime something needs to be done or this game will quite literally die.  There arent enough players currently and im not sure how theyre even staying afloat.  Im sure theyre bleeding money on this.

  10. Lets face it. We all know its coming.  Jericho on a good night has MAYBE 20 people on total in mission districts.  That's it.  Its a literal graveyard, with most nights no active districts at all.  The pop on Jericho has been dwindling for months and its finally just crashed.  Ive been playing some on Citadel which has a much more active player base, but all my stuff isn't over there 😞  When can we expect a merge? because it really needs to happen.

Can we actually have a GM's in a districts? There is a few Insults removed ~@mayii who just keep grief streamers, so its making game unplayable for them

I remember the days when GM's would hang out in districts and ban hammer people on the spot, put people in time out for making barricades, or mute people for being overly vulgar.  I miss those days 😞

I have no idea, if this was ever asked or answered. i didnt find a thing in the search function about it.

(If there was ever a progress..) at what stage was G1 (promised) work on the engine update ?

This mythical topic is in this game for at least 5 years, as we can see now, how much of time it Matt and the team takes to improve:

Did G1 even do a thing about it ? Have they ever been working on an engine update ? Were all the "early render progress screenshots" and told progress only lies to keep mikling the last players ?

Who even is (behind) G1? They were somehow related with K2Networks (Warrock and other Freemium games). Who are they ?

Can anyone (MATT/TEAM) answere that questions (valid and confirmed, not guessing) ?

    Thanks in Advance,

    a player since RTW times.

I distinctly remember a blog post by G1 prior to the LO acquisition that detailed the issues they (G1) were running into with the Engine upgrade.  There were pictures of faces melting off of npcs, elongated limbs, etc because of some issue they had copying existing models over to the new engine.  I cannot find it, because all blog posts prior to the acquisition have been deleted.  They were working on it and showed progress sometimes but that was the first time they literally showed images of the issues they were facing.

Gold dethreaters . Any kind of segregation is useless.

Better Lock threat level for ...always.

&Maybe segregation could help a bit.

50 vs 50 district is better, but 60 vs 60 is perfect.

Right now prime time on a weekend, there are 34 people on a bronze, 18 on a silver.   we cant even fill ONE district to max if you combine the players from both.  segregation is making people dethreat to get into the bigger bronze district just so they have a chance at playing someone different than the same team over and over.  Our population is literally dead.  You cant segregate an already limited playerbase and expect it to suddenly thrive.  It IS currently segregated and obviously its doing little and making things worse.

Ah yes, fragment the already minuscule community even further. Great idea!

remember when saturdays used to be the best days to play because everyone was home and playing??

I just logged in and theres only one mission district with a population for people to actually get a mission....7 cops and 4 crims.  Bronze district.  So sad.

only 64 total people online and most are in social district.

OK this is how matchmaking works on APB and how match making works in real life.

You have 10 professional players and 10 non professional players. 20 players in all for a 10 v 10

In real life 5 Professional players will team with 5 non professional players making up 2 equal teams.

In APB the Professional players wont team with the non professional players and group together. So you have 10 professional players steamrolling 10 non professional players. GG EZ ......

Non professional players say screw this and go play something else. Population diminishes Matchmaking is blamed......

First, nobody plays this game "professionally".  The word you're looking for is Veteran.

Second, in order for matchmaking to work properly, there needs to be a healthy playerbase.  If all there is in the district is 15 veteran players and 5 newbs, yea youre going to get against vets.  Thats just how it is.  The vets are the only ones still playing this game, new players get discouraged as they cant learn the game without getting "steamrolled".  It will happen, theres no way around it.  Like i said above, theres only 65 people total online and the ONLY mission district with people in it is a bronze district, with 11 people in it.  that means theres absolutely nowhere for golds to play if they log on, unless they dethreat.  This games system is broken, thats no secret.  In order for people to actually be able to play this game, they have to exploit the system and dethreat to get any missions at all which is silly.

  15. 3 minutes ago, Cyberlicious said:

Back like in 2011, the entire threat scoring and matchmaking system was weighted differently, it changed a lot more slowly and so it couldn't be gamed as easily as it is now... well, ofc there was an actual population then, but... a gold of highest threat, I think was like threat 10, could get matched versus bronzes... but there would be like 10 of them... or a silver and 2 bronzes.  We didn't have plentiful fake golds like there are now... the golds back then were truly skilled... and they could "handle" multiple lesser skilled op. I'm not saying we could return to that extremity... but... with some effort, something like it should be implemented. You aren't going to attract new players to what has become an inherently unfair game... with tryhard kiddos with fake gold using every exploit imaginable to stream their "performance..." well, their friends ghosting out of mission to block the other team... their premade gold team with legendaries versus a sad, bronze premade.

Anyway... threat segregation destroyed this great game.  Removing it is a step towards it's restoration... but to do that, at this point.. threat will have to become a hidden game calculation so districts can be open, and matchmaking... because of all the exploits... new accounts with trainee's who are actually max rank, longtime players... or cheaters... will always skew the stats.

im aware of how it was.

I totally agree threat needs to be removed.

We've all come across it, in one way or another. You 85 a guy, he just instantly gets in a car and runs off. Or you get camped behind a car for days.

Well, my friend had an amazing idea to counter this, so I had to share it.

How about we add being able to shoot people in a car/through the car (through the windows)? Yes, I know it's a huge project to rework car hitboxes and the player hitboxes, but it's so worth it.

It's the perfect fix for this meta and it'll make the game more fun for everybody.

also, please make consumables permanent, the 5 for 2000$ price is so unappealing to new players (even for us veterans its stupid)

You do realize that if youre on even ground with the enemy you can shoot their feet under the car right?  its pretty easy to kill someone using a car for cover.  Its essentially the same thing as shooting them through a window.

We had a period without threat segragation due to server issues and the game was even less playable across the board because golds would get noobs/new players even more often and would get bored and quit. Meanwhile new players would get stomped 10x times more by said golds and would also quit. I want 50vs50 back but there needs to be some kind of ranking/threat segragation because the lack of a reliable system has played a huge part in APB's downfall over the years. The fact that new players are in no way protected from veterans is what chases said new players away. Taking the little they have already away will utterly devastate lesser players' will to even launch APB. Its no fun for anyone however you look at it. And at least on Citadel we're not that low on population where you absolutely need all players in order to fill a single district. I suppose they could do that for Jericho, but not for Citadel. Not yet anyway.

We did have a period like that.  It wasnt unplayable at all.  It was literally exactly the same because those same golds weren't dethreating to get into the district anymore, they could just freely enter.

I think we can all agree that threat is pretty much meaningless.  It literally accomplishes nothing because it is too easily manipulated.  Bronze districts still are plagued by dethreaters.  They were back in the day as well.  At least removing the threat segregation kept you from getting teammates trolling missions to lose threat, or being opposed against another team throwing the game to dethreat making it seriously not fun.  New players have never been protected from veterans.  The only way to do that would be to make the districts rank based, which is the worst idea ever.

There isnt a healthy enough game population at this time to do any segregation.  As it is on the US server, we can barely get one full district on a good day.  Most of the time its a half full silver district.  Most "new players" nowadays are just rerolls, or reroll accounts that have been banned.

+time cycles are a sweet touch.

    +movements are much more responsive.

    +tracers!!!!

    cons:

-low performance at this point. the live game runs much better for me. needs tons more optimization obviously.

-lots of bugs in the game menus. can barely change any options and some options don't affect the game after changing.

-low component utilization at around 50% cpu and 30% gpu.

    -runs very glitchy and stuttery.

-for some reason I couldn't disable vsync in fullscreen mode but it got disabled when I switched to windowed mode.

    -no borderless windowed option.

    my specs:

You would have less performance issues if you installed and ran the game on the SSD.

  19. I mean, its looks OKAY.  Its not game changing or game  breaking.  I dont feel this is going to save the game at all.  Same game with some makeup on.  meh.

I was max settings 100fps no  hitching or lag.
