  1. I would not want to be anyone at a Little Orbit board meeting right about now. I could imagine all kinds of hell getting unleashed there.

If their player base is getting antsy about all of this, it's a good bet that any investors that went along with getting this game are just as, if not more worried about the state of the game in regards to the population decline.

I think the only thing that is preventing a total collapse is the hope the new engine upgrade will bring back former players and new ones to the game.

For me personally I think it's going to take more than the upgrade to get APB Reloaded back on its feet.

To loosely quote from the movie Tommy Boy "In business you're either growing or dying, there ain't no third direction."

  2. I don't know about how many hackers there are in the game but I can say there are alot of accusations in district chat over it.  I believe alot of accusations are made but the accuser doesn't ask him or herself the right questions first or takes into account a few things before making an accusation.

    - personal game experience vs opponent experience.

    - opponent tactics.

    -weapon choice.

    - team coordination.

If you ask yourself questions along those avenues you might see the player you were up against wasn't hacking at all.

  3. IIRC a few years back there was a big demand for motorcycles in the game but it was shot down by the devs saying the mechanics of the game wouldn't allow that. Maybe something changed or someone found out it was actually possible to do so?

If that is the case I would submit that skateboards would have been a nice addition being that we do have a skate park and all. Maybe use the park as a mini game area where you could do stunts in the parks for points or whatever (ala Tony Hawk) provided that the updated mechanics would provide for this.

One question though , does the "car surfer" ability allow you to sit in the cab of the pickup or is it just the roof of the truck you can sit?

  4. No my second comment wasn't meant to be sarcastic at all. To clarify , I saw your question and apparently misunderstood what you were saying. I tried to help you out with what I thought was a solution based on the map you had shown of the social district.  My second comment was based on the reply you gave which demonstrated to me that your not even grateful enough that someone made an attempt to try to help you out and it would be a further waste of time to help a person such as yourself.

  5. The only thing I would have as a concern and it's probably nothing if there is some legality that would prevent the dev team from using any player base content .  I know in gamed like City of Heroes and Star Trek Online they have and had (since COH is gone)  an option where you could take missions that were created by players. STO would have a problem since they have to answer to a lawyer team from CBS and Paramount before their own devs can create anything new or from the shows or movies so that pretty much shut them out from using player content with only one exception with a contest for a design for a new ship.

APB Reloaded would probably not have to answer to any lawyer team since the game is original content and since Matt Scott basically owns the game it would probably be just his decision to use any of this. The only reason why I bring this up is because if these were his concerns it would probably be to establish that this was a contribution and the contributor wasn't expecting any sort of monetary exchange.  My last post on this thread was also to suggest that maybe a contest with some sort of reward, maybe that could be the workaround to any sort of monetary payment for contributed content.

It would be interesting to me at least to see how Matt could answer the process he might have for such a thing, if he were interested.

  6. Oh I was referring to the Halloween Event they had a few years back (the one I remember participating in) . Also I think there was a Easter Event as well.  Unless they have something where they became free items like the pumpkin head. To be honest I was interested in the chicken head or rooster head . Those look pretty funny.

  7. I have a question about events and a possible suggestion. If you miss an event is it possible to get the prizes you missed in a new event?

If the answer is "no" I think a good idea is one that I have seen in Star Trek Online where they have a "Phoenix Event".

Essentially it's a lockbox event but how it works is that the game gives you one free box to open (actually a master key to open the box but it works out to the same thing).

Depending on the level of the box you get a menu from items that are useful or just decorative to an actual T6 (high level) ship. You also have the opportunity to acquire items from events you may have missed.

This event can go on through a weekend to a couple of days (I think I seen it run for a week at one time but don't hold me to that). So every day the event is run you get one box or key a day with the chance of getting some cool freebies. The part the dev's would like is that you can also purchase extra keys to open more boxes a day.

In this type of event STO sees a surge in population because there is not one gamer on the planet that doesn't hear the call of the freebie siren and wants all the free stuff they can get. The game company itself doesn't really lose anything because alot of folks will buy the extra boxes just to try to get some of the more high end items.
Anyway just a question and suggestion because I would like to see the game do well as I am so far enjoying alot of aspects of it.

P.S. Sorry if any confusion is caused by mentioning "master keys" and the lockboxes. The boxes are free but you need a key to open them in that game.

  8. I left around 2016 and at the time my excuse was poor game performance, horrible community and no new content to speak of. I told a friend of mine who was an avid player of the game at the time that for me it seemed the concept of the game was to aggravate and frustrate the player whether a new one or a veteran in almost every aspect of playing in it.
So far after being back it's been a learning experience for me. My whole goal is to try to get my skill up and not die what seems like a thousand times over in every mission. To be fair there are many jerks in this game that delight in trolling on the chat, interfering with a mission or just whispering those sweet nothings like "you suck" , "uninstall game" and the ever wonderful "get gud".

But with those unfortunate experiences I have had some good ones both with criminals and enforcers (who I do not envy, enforcers I mean). I will be honest, my two problems I am trying to remedy is finding the right keyboard button for crouch (number 3 right now because it's closest to WASD keys) and getting nervous the moment I get shot at (that one is still a work in progress).

I cannot say what will really make this game get a resurgence of new players and a return of old but I do have a suggestion and although it may sound a bit selfish I figure I'll throw my "net" in.

For the love of all that is holy please have a disable function for hearing another player's death theme. Alot of them are good but you get some with that "heyheyheyheyheyheyhey" and every loud sound you can imagine. I'm using speakers right now and it's a nightmare when that happens, I don't want to even think about what it's like with headphones on.

  9. I am very much on favor of new districts. I look it at as a game has got to grow to keep it's players interested and attract new ones.

There are plenty of games online that do this so it's not like some novel idea that's impossible to accomplish.

The powers that be in this game could even have a contest for ideas submitted for new districts and contacts. At this point what do we have to lose?

  10. I have played for three weeks on this game after a long hiatus so I was rusty from the start. After getting clobbered the first day - all day, I decided to roll a new character in the hopes I could get some practice in.

Here's what I took away from it after three weeks.

If you ask any question in District Chat be prepared to get false info to outright hostility or if you're lucky, complete silence.

If you are a new player in a team the following  things have a great chance of happening:

    - your team takes off leaving you to do the mission yourself or with one other player who is probably new as well.

-you make any mistake in a mission you will either be told you are "trash" advised to "uninstall game" or tossed from the team or all three.

-you will find yourself matched against an all gold army while your team is bronze, or trainee which means you are going to be killed over and over until the mission is thankfully over.

-you have one or two people on your team that just decide to shoot you while you're trying to win the mission and whisper the ever helpful advice of "get good", real nice.

It got to the point that finding an empty district to ram raid although boring was thankfully without all the hassle of a full district. As an Enforcer you are basically out of luck.

My point being is that this game from the mechanics to some players makes the experience of being in the game a disagreeable one.

A new player is going to question if it is worth investing time and money in a game where he or she is being "shown the door" for displaying the inexperience they obviously have.

I think for this game to work and to retain newcomers and returning players there has to be some effort with the game developers and the players to at least get people interested and motivated to stick around.

  11. Well I can't tell who's cheating and who isn't . I had it whispered to me a few times in missions by my team where they believed the opposition had a member or two who were believed to be cheating but I think for me right now the major problem is team killers and outside intrusions (trolls) to the missions. It's nothing new in this game and like everything else I suppose you have to roll with it.

A question though , does Little Orbit have anything like a number they post telling how many cheaters have been caught since they used the new anti-cheat system? I'm not looking for names but a monthly numerical figure could probably clear up any confusion on the anti-cheat effectiveness.

  12. I think another problem that I hope L.O. is working on and will have a fix soon is matchmaking and district separation. I've been playing between being a bronze threat to silver and back and forth because I'm still trying to get used to all of this again.

I can have a team of bronze to trainee and we end up against silver and worse, gold threats and it seems on those missions the only thing I seem to be getting good at and my team is getting killed over and over again in very new and horrific ways lol.

I get why we have silver threats in bronze districts but the gold threats seem to be there to get easy kills. As a returning player this is nothing new to me and so you just roll with the punches and for me personally it's "win or lose I progress just a little more with a contact".

Anyone new coming into game though I cannot see how they would stick around long enough to get better at the game with that kind of opposition against them.

  13. I'm still having fun here.  Yesterday I did a full day of missions and although I had my patootie handed to me too many times to say it was just bad luck, I think I got some good experience that will hopefully improve my game as time goes on. Maybe it was because it was a weekday , but Waterfront did look a bit empty while Financial was hopping.
