if they made anyone useful a gm, all the cheaters wouldve gotten banned already. i could ban over half the cheaters in one sitting if i was gm

I am going to be honest. Like 99% of the people you think are cheating are probably not cheating. I am fairly good and I get top frag once in a while in fight club and shipping but I am not delusional and I can admit that there are people that are SOOOOO much better then me. I personally just have realized I'm not the greatest at shooters and I don't invest as much time as many other people do learning the maps and all the small tricks hiding spots and mechanics although I do know quite a few of them. I just would suggest you take some time to study the mechanics of the game and try looking around on the internet for tips and tricks.

  2. Hello everyone,

I am not sure but I was playing just testing a new TAS Joker I bought and I was online for about 5 minutes and I randomly get kicked for a cheat software detected. I am sorta confused as the only new software I have installed on my PC since the last time I played APB was the new Modern warfare which was not even running and Malware-bytes. I am not exactly sure what happened and I am here just to document the issue / see if there is any way I can see what exactly caused this kick, are there any logs that get stored locally on my system that I can check which will tell me what process caused this or something along those lines? I don't understand what happened as I haven't installed any new software that should effect the game in any manner. Thanks for the help.

  3. I'm am glad to see progress. This brings me a lot of joy. Also, I would like to recommend updating textures after UE4, not everything instantly but at least several things per week. I wouldn't suggest doing it in UE3.5 as that would just make it more of a pain in the patootie transfer new textures and old if you will be doing the both and make it more work but yea the game would be great with new textures.

  4. Holy shit this is amazing. Detonator blacklisted every match.

I also completely agree on the unlocking all content to all players as that would make it feel like a less pay2win game (don't rush to conclusions on this) I feel like the locked content kind forces people to buy premium to unlock content faster which makes it feel pay to win. If you were to unlock most content to all players It would make it a free to play the game more and that would bring people to try the new content that they may have not gotten to if they played got their asses whooped by golds and quit. Also would suggest lowering the rank of the osmaw and nade launcher unlock as that would also interest new players I feel like. When I first started the game that was all I was thinking of. Unlocking the osmaw and I feel like a lot of new players see higher rank players with these op patootie explosives then when they realize that its going to take them forever to unlock these weapons they have less interest in the game.

  5. Hello everyone,

Don't post often but I feel like I need to post this and just be blatant about it. This post is for @MattScott.

Hey Matt. Genuinely from the bottom of my heart. We don't give a fuck as a community how ugly the upgrade may look and we all understand that there are kinks in the development process because like 70% of the player base are tech people. Now, this is coming from me alone but I want to see evidence and pictures of what's to come I don't give a shit about what stage it's at right now I just want to see it if I am going to continue supporting the game and or even interested in the game. I don't think anyone else gives a shit what stage the game is at or what it looks like, I feel like everyone just wants proof of the concept. You understand its like G1 kinda ruined this communities trust. You guys started off strong by constant updates and you guys posting and pictures and other interesting things that may have been useful. Now its some deadbeat post about a game mode no one gives a shit about (RIOT) and a bunch of other useless things that 70% of the community doesn't care about. Honestly if you really care about APB, let the testers post pictures. If you really are so set on having the game look perfect just allow them to take pictures of the "not bugged stuff" and I feel like the community would be happy with that. I am sorry but when you claim something then go dead silent on it when someone asks for pictures or proof or just make constant excuses that makes my bullshoot radar go off, but hey that's just me.

    Hi all,

I'm not interested in sugarcoating or spinning this last week.

I am sorry for all the downtime.

Many players have asked what happened, so I'm going to do my best to summarize the events.

On Monday the 29th, we took the servers down to move data centers and migrate to all new hardware for our backend systems. This move was necessary for a couple reasons, but mainly because a lot of the hardware was more than 5 years old, and we were already seeing failures and system performance problems. It was only a matter of time before something critical failed. The timing also happened to line up with the end of our last legacy (ludicrously overpriced) hosting contract, and we needed to make some network architecture changes to facilitate some of the features coming after the Engine Upgrade.

I figured we could kill three birds with one stone.

The core challenge was managing all the information needed to drive APB since all the hardware was new. That meant backing everything up and then hand carrying a series of large hard drives from one location to another. The hardware had been prepped and configured in advance, so while we knew this would be challenging, but we had a fairly detailed plan and felt we could manage any issues that popped up.

Problem #1: Unfortunately, during the move we unearthed some buried issues that delayed our ability to bring servers back online for quite a while. The team did a solid job of working through those problems and even recompiling code in a couple places to remove landmines that we stumbled over. But once we got the servers back online, I felt we did a decent job.

Problem #2: Shortly after we went live, the brand new RAID controller in our new primary database server quickly degraded in performance. To make the situation worse, we rushed to get servers back online and decided it would be okay to let players back in while the secondary database server finished syncing. The hardware failure hit so quickly that the secondary wasn't ready, so we couldn't failover. At this point we made an effort to keep the servers online through the weekend, and while our jury-rigged fix allowed some players to get on, it also lead to many other players being unable to login (Error 9). The team decided the quickest way to fix the issue would be to build an entirely new primary database server and then swapping everything over on Monday. We didn't want to risk moving damaged drives to the new servers, so we needed a complete backup to make sure we didn't lose anything.

Problem #3: Once we shutoff all the servers and started the backup, we found that the faulty RAID controller could only copy files at the rate of 1GB per minute. After 18+ hours, we were finally able to complete the backup, and then finally get the new server finalized and back online.

There are a lot of things that went wrong, but in the end, I should have planned better. With that much new hardware, we were bound to have an issue somewhere.

To make it up to everyone, on Friday we will be turning on 2 weeks of free Premium for all players. For anyone who has existing Premium, this will add to it.

I never want to have to make this kind of apology again.

Little Orbit can and will do better in the future.

    Sorry,

    Matt

I work in the industry and I get it but I still want those pictures of UE3.5

    Hey everyone,

This thread has started to derail a bit, I would kindly remind everyone here that this thread is not about whether or not certain edits of files violate the EULA. If you wish to discuss this topic, feel free to create a thread for it, otherwise, I would ask everyone to stick to the topic at hand!

    -Spuzva

Thank you. I was just about to say that. Umm @MattScott Any chance we will be getting those pics soon?

He never said those screenshots would be coming on Monday, they would come after Monday.

You read 'after' as 5 mins/a  few hours after, that's not specified.

Plz Kevkof. You are just not salty and hyped because you get early access. You have no right to talk here. Please leave.

The password in JP was "mr. goodbytes". None of the variations thereof (with without space, dot, and capitalization) work and result in the same screen.

SQL Injection doesn't seem to work either

They probably aren't going to waste their time making a database for something this small. They just hardcoded the password & username into the backend and left it there. Or this could be like an online web portal to be able to check your stats and etc. We will see really. Best is yet to come.

  10. If there was abuse from GM's and they were giving out APB$, JT and Legendaries then I find it more then necessary to trade lock those legendaries to keep the balance of things in the games current economy. Honestly, it's good on your part for trying and doing as much as you possibly can. +1 vouch for Matt Scott for best CEO of the year. Single-handedly keeping my hope up in APB.

    Hi everyone,

I should have commented on this sooner.

There is an active plan already in the works to remove the cooldown benefit from Premium. However I wanted to have a new benefit for Premium ready, so we can give Premium players something else to help create new value for their subscription.

I’ll announce the new Premium benefit soon.

    Thanks,

    Matt

YES! Thank you, Matt. You are the reason there is still hope in APB. I can't wait to see what the new value is.

  12. So honestly I remember back when we had that nade launcher event the person would have a nade launcher that had a mag of 10 nades more hp and faster movement speed I wanted to know when that's coming back because that was the most fun mode ever. It's like the best thing in APB and I remember spending hours playing that mode I wanted to see if that was going to come back or not. Was that some specific holiday even because I don't ever remember it being associated with a holiday.

I think a lot of work needs to be done on how threat or skill is calculated. It feels like we should be measuring activity better, and change should be more gradual (like BXNNXD referred from an earlier post of mine).

I agree with your point on this. If you look at mass esports games like let's take CS:GO for an example matchmaking ranking takes so long to go up in threat and go down in threat but then there is one thing that APB has that CS:GO doesn't which is standing and money that you get from the number of kills that you make so I feel like making it more gradual will help but it will not make it so that it doesn't happen. Like there are still going to be people dethreating and then going for more kills and because it's more gradual that means they will stay in a lower threat longer at the cost of it taking a bit longer to dethreat and if you make it easy to up threat but hard to dethreat then that's just gonna cause a lot of silvers that were good for 1 or 2 games because of luck get stuck in a higher threat and want to kill themselves playing the game because they will be getting pooped on. So, in the end, I feel like that isn't a real solution it still seems like a band-aid for a bullet hole.

I can appreciate the OP’s frustrations. We are not perfect, but I do read the forums, and we do our best.

    For the record:

    - this was requested by players

    - it was already implemented for Fallen Earth, so it took very little effort to just standardize the code for APB

    - we are working on 2FA

    Thanks,

    Matt

For real though the whole money earned should be upped for regular people and premium should just earn a bit more money and for premium, there should not be any extra standing with contacts. I agree with op on some points but I see where you're coming from too but I feel like without premium all you are able to do is buy ammo and spawn your car and then when you get premium you have so much money left over you don't know what to do with it. Also the extra points for contacts I feel like that's bullshoot it shouldn't be that way and this is coming from a person that buys premium.

    Hi there,

I have made a separate post about adjustments we are making to the Trade System. However, the Trade Lock will re-engage every time you access the game from a new computer. The length of the lock is based on several under-the-hood values, but it will most commonly be 7 days right now.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Will this happen for the first time after you log in since the system has been implemented. I haven't been on in like a week or two since I have been busy so what I am asking will it lock me out when I log in to the computer I usually play on since the system was just implemented.

LOL .. sure 31m its alot. But almost any real legendary weapons collector can surpass 31m ez if they sell few weapons.
"THE RICHEST PLAYER" is who have credit card.
lol, I have a few million in $ but my legendary collection definitely is more than 31m. So basically what you said. Also not a credit card but who has money. I try not to use my credit cards at all although I got a shit ton of them.

I tend to agree. The idea of world servers is outdated.

We've already started working on an architecture change that would merge all the worlds into a single clustered system allowing access to characters across all districts. Then we could untether the location of the district servers to spread them out and make them closer to a lot more people. This will take some time, but we are already moving forward.
But again that comes with engine 3.5 or am I mistaken?

Why in the world would you make crosshairs less responsive, that makes the game way more difficult? Lol.

BTW, LO already said that they're looking into crosshair customization, though I don't think they promised anything. That'd definitely be after the EU though.
Idk, to be honest, the responsive crosshairs throw me off sometimes, but um yea customized crosshairs would be amazing. I just want 1 red tiny dot that has a opacity of like 80
