what was your average latency? i find anything over 100ms extremely noticeable, especially on actions that already have a delay like driving

roadmap looks nice, but like matt said it also seems very aspirational

    guess we’ll see

I didn’t measure because it was working fine. I would say it was definitely under 100ms. Didn’t feel any lag, no worse hitreg then usual.

I usually play at 1ms on NA when in NA, so it couldn’t have been that crazy high ping if I didn’t really notice.

Thinking pragmatically, I do wonder how useful the cross-region matchmaking will actually be. If it were me and I was in a low-pop server and had two options - either play with 150+ms or not play at all - I'd probably choose the latter, but I suppose that is just one opinion and it's nice to have the option.

FairFight back is a big positive too, I just hope Reloaded's implentation and use of the tool is learned from.

    A good point of reference:

I had an internship in Germany a few years ago where I stayed for 3 months. I played APB during my time in Germany on the NA server. I genuinely didn’t notice a difference.

I wouldn’t worry about it much.

it's funny b/c anti-cheat is non-existent and the game and forums are entrenched by known cheaters lol

Do you play on Jericho or Citadel? I came back a week ago and I haven't seen a single cheater and I've played every day since the 64 bit update.

If anything, the game and forums are entrenched with people who aren't good at the game, but aren't self aware enough to realize it.

  4. Man I was having the worst time in mission districts yesterday.

Every single teammate was starting the round, bitching that the opponent was cheating, pre-quitting by just running away or going AFK, then yelling “don’t feed the cheaters”. So what should have been 4 players vs 3 was now just me vs 3.

They weren’t even cheating. You know how I know? They missed, they weren’t using macro-able weapons, they didn’t know where I was at all times. Suprise Suprise, if I snuck up on them and played defensively I was able to kill them a few times.

They were still way better then me, but it’s easier to say someone else is cheating then it is to just admit “I’m not as good as they are”.

I genuinely haven’t seen a legit cheater since I started playing again. Not one. It’s all in your head my dude.

Only issue with this is that i believe these systems are still broken.  A lot of them broke at some point and just haven't been fixed.  With how small the current team is i'd assume the focus is on fixing bugs and creating content.

    Ah, that’s a bummer.

Now that you mention it, I do remember the challenges requiring a lot of manual intervention from Gamersfirst to give out the prizes because they didn’t work very well, that’s a good point.

For any conceptual daily login system to have any relevance to a veteran like myself, it would need to give significant amounts of APB$ and JT. I already own all the weapons, cars, etc, so such rewards would not be incentives to me. That being said, "significant" in this context would also almost assuredly be more than LO would be willing to provide.

APB$ is only relevant if it's given in amounts that makes it viable to use consumables (which is the only thing that such an income of APB$ has a use for at this point for someone like me). Since consumables cost $2,000 for a pack of 5, and you can very easily use that (if not multiple packs of that) in a single mission, such a login payout would need to be sizeable.

Also no, you do not get enough consumables from end of mission rewards to actually actively use them. All of this is why I adamantly stand on the principle that LO needs to just convert consumables to actual permanent character mods, so that players can actually use them.

The average full mission takes 15-20 minutes, which makes for 3-4 missions per hour. Let's assume an average daily play session of 4 hours, which makes 12-16 missions. Let's assume one pack per mission on average (epipen users generally consume more than one pack, while resupply users generally consume less). That would make for 12-16 packs, which costs $24,000-$32,000. So daily login payout would need to be like $50,000 to be viable as an enticement for me. I play more than 4 hours for a session, generally.

Now let's look at JT. This is easier, because it would be entirely balanced around the legendary gacha. It costs 2,500 JT to pull once on a legendary. Gacha pity is 20 pulls, so 50,000 JT spent. I think it would be fair for a player to be granted a legendary once every 3 months as a reward for consistent logins. So you take the 50,000 JT and divide by an average of 90 days, getting you a daily login payout of 556 (rounded). However, you also can make 90 JT per day from the existing contact daily activity system. If you subtract that from the 556 JT, you get 466 JT. I would say a fair balance on the daily login would be 500 JT, since you aren't always going to min/max 90 JT from the daily activities (some of them are absolutely cancerous to complete, after all).

I already own the weapons you say? Well yea, but legendaries convert into APB$ by selling to other players. Also, theoretically LO will add new legendaries in the future, etc.

So tl;dr- Daily login would have to, at minimum, grant $50,000 and 500 JT, to be an actual incentive for me.

If you think they're going to give out 500jt or 50k daily, you're on something pretty crazy, and i want some too.

Hes definitely gotta be a troll. Any idiot who expects another major update so soon for any of that stuff is.....(ding ding ding), an idiot.

Login rewards would be pog, but they'd have to create a new system out of scratch for it, neither RTW or G1 had a system like that before, so it'd take some time. Although it'd give a good incentive for everyone to log in. But they'd have to be half-decent login rewards too, not shitty 3 day trials for guns or something. Even I have most of the guns aside from reskins, and any guns I dont have are ones Ive trialed that I dont like. I'd say JT packs just to start off would be perfect, then they can edit the rewards or add new ones as they see fit. Maybe like 60 a day, bonus 200 for a week-long streak, and bonus 2000 for a month-long login streak, that way you'd give a good incentive for players to login, as a couple months of purely just logging in, you could perma-buy a 3-slot JT gun. 60x30(days) + 800 (4 week month), +2000 = 4600. Combine that with doing the daily contact activities or Fight Club, that'd be a really good incentive.

Nah, they already have a system for it or at least they did. I can't remember when this was though. I remember everyone being pissed because one of the challenges was literally kill X teammates.

I think that literally just re-using the joker box pool and giving everyone who completes a simple challenge a free pull at a joker box would be decent. You can get permanent cars and weapons that way along with stuff like 30 day trials of guns. Seems like a good way to re-use old features.

not to mention that i run the game pretty much the same like was in 1.20(and is not my pc cause run even bigger games better)

I can’t tell if you’re a troll or not, you’ve committed to the bit so well for so long, It’s impressive.

It’s nice to see you guys focusing on making the new player experience better, along with some QOL stuff for returning players.

If I could make a suggestion, why not add daily challenges/log-in rewards?  A system like that could go a long way to keep the returning players and make the new player experience a bit better by providing free items.

I suggest you use the existing JMB rewards as randomized prizes for logging in. The opportunity to get free permanent weapons and cars along with short rentals of some Armas weapons or JT packs could be helpful to keep players engaged in the game and returning daily.

I think remember a daily challenge system was implemented a while ago, I think that it was infamous because one of the daily challenges was “kill 10 teammates” or something, which was a terrible idea, but aside from that, having the same challenge for every player for rewards would be fun.

game mechanics cant be copyrighted afaik, so as long as no names or assets from apb are used, theres no basis for a lawsuit

The title of this post is literally "unreal engine 5 APB concept" and in the post I quoted, OP said he's trying to recreate APB to show little orbit that people will take action. Sounds like admission of trying to make a game with the IP (that he doesn't own) to me.

Just like how you can't legally make a Pokémon game without permission even if everything is new.

    Merged.

Wrong opinion, in those years on Alpha UE3 everything was programmed in C ++ and then a lot of resources were required, as well as development costs. Now there are other technologies that speed up the process. Here is an example Customizing a character. The meaning of his work is applying alpha masks in layers through the "render target" with the use of a "virtual texture" which is then mixed with the main one. This texture is then mapped onto the character itself via a UV map using a planar or cylindrical projection. This can be done without programming code using "Blueprint" without C++ programming. The new engine has a lot of possibilities, you just need to know it a little and imagine how it will work.
If you don’t feel like developing all this to the engine, there is already a plug-in that will recreate the same customization, pay for the license and build locations for the already customized project ahead.
Link to the plugin I'm talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEEw-iGwldg

What OP has shown (at least from what I can see) is essentially all art, but I see your point.

We can either wait to get APB never released or we can make our own, there is n o promotion here. We only want to let people know that there are people willing to recreate and take actions.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you're not capable of making APB in any reasonable amount of time.

So far you've taken 3 weeks to make something that would take most 3D artists 20 minutes to make.

Since APB took a bunch of talented people 5 years to make, if you stay at your current rate, you'll be done in 7,000+ years.

Even if you speed up, the moment you get anywhere close to release the IP holder of APB can just sue you and force you to close down.

Doesn't sound worth it to me.

Obviously you can make that in 20 Minutes, i would love to see your solution.
You have to create the mesh, fix your Normals, apply UV´s, create textures. import it into ue4, choose collisions, reapply textures cause blender doesnt support colored texture export, place everything, scale it, test it.
I want to see you model this scene in/under 20 Minutes with correct UV´s and normals.
Oh and also it should run smooth, so be careful with your Vertices and vertex placement.

    Good Luck 😉

You don't generally need to fix normals if you modelled correctly in the first place.

Also, structures like this are very easy to UV unwrap and model. Organic shapes like people are where that gets hard.

And why would you need to optimize meshes this simple, you shouldn't need millions of polygons to make this

    Holy fuck you are stupid,

i am not gonna call you any names since i already got a warning because of people like you, not that people like you deserve to be talked to any better.

And from what i have seen people on discord don't seem to think much better of you than me, you are quite "something"

VanilleKeks knew i wasn't talking about nades,

"I don't really think this is a good idea. If you remove explosions from Asylum it will just turn into even more of a frag grenade spamfest."

but sure, choose to be a "redditor" and poke the smallest holes to try and "prove your points", keep thinking you did something by making long paragraphs and lying, it will get you somewhere.

Seems like this is your life, lying and poking the smallest holes in things that everyone knows what someone was talking about already, pathethic and miserable, yikes.

I stopped reading after that, it's not even worth it, bye

Its people like you that make me wish they never removed the downvote button.

Oh I didnt necessarily mean it like right this second lol, like when both servers are actively ready. Then merge them, when there wont be a production conflict.

They are going to make district phasing with the engine upgrade so matchmaking is going to take from one pool of players anyway. There's no point to merge the servers at all.

I can say with 99.99999% certainty that this will not get you banned.
    2 reasons for that:

First: There’s no way to detect if you’re using this or not. It basically creates a website only you can use that is not connected to the internet in any way. They can’t ban you for using a website.

Second: It doesn’t give you any unfair advantage. It literally just shows you how to arrange notes on piano roll.

Additional question: what are the specs on your computer?

I looked at the FPS quotes and most of the computers were quite beefy and most people shouldn't expect FPS that high.

In response to the rest of your reply, I think you're greatly misunderstanding the point of the beta test yesterday. The purpose of the test yesterday was to STRESS TEST. They can't do that with 20-30 people. This is an important step before release.
