Hopefully we are not at this stage yet.

    Hi all,

We're in a weird position at this point.

Technically, all the servers are working properly. All the databases are restored and up.

However, the system overall is unbearably slow. It takes hours to boot and load all the data.

Once it is up, the timeouts between servers make the system unstable and unplayable.

We took everything down and restarted it all from scratch about an hour ago, and not everything is fully booted.

    I'll keep you posted.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Sounds like everything is working fine, just running really slow. So once they get that part fixed, it should be back up.

Now, if we could just get an update on the situation

Now that I think about it,

Couldn't you just look at one of the other games that are working properly like APB and see how the "timeouts between servers" are setup.

Then look at how it's setup for Fallen Earth and make them both the same.

sometimes when you get disconnected your toon is actually still in the game, in opennap they had a very similar thing they called ghosting, you had to kill your ghost before you could relog. here when you do that then enter password again you go to the " alex masters " page

That's what I thought it would be for. I've DC'd in other games and at the login, it would say "you're already logged in" etc, then I would need to wait 15 seconds or so before it cleared the old one.

if you wipe the old copy of your program you will loose waypoints, hot bar, and i think friends list (not real sure on the last one)

Not sure about waypoints, but I re-downloaded the game about a week ago after not playing since 2009-2013 or something and my friend list, clan list is still intact.

    My hotbar was empty

your asking him to throw away his only food hes a dog

After being in the wasteland for so long, sometimes you gotta do, what you gotta do.

Dog Food tastes ok, but scorpion claw tastes a bit like overcooked lobster, so it's not a total loss. 🙂

Then again, anything tastes better than Bug farm suprise...

    Edit -

I never even saw that (Alec masters), or the (welcome to the apocalypse) login screens, until the maintenance right before this "extended downtime", it always went straight to my character screen.

All I ever had to do was,

    FEUpdater > username/password > next > launch > choose my character > enter game

    Survivors log: Day 5

Weird mutants have started showing up, the damn scorpions are as big as horses.

We've run out of bullets fighting off waves of these freaks. Resorted to mining raw copper and turning it into airsoft pellets. ...Surprisingly effective.

The gov says they're doing all they can to solve the "issues." What ever those are, who knows.

Didn't I tell you to stop wasting bullets and just use the Cemented Pole instead? When the scorpions get close, swing around and hit them from the side.

As for the mutants, toss them a can of Dog Food, they'll leave you alone for a little while.

HMMMmmmmmmmmmm.......   Gimme a few minutes, that sounds really familiar.

I have to upload a picture instead, because it blocked me from posting my answers. Apparently the forum doesn't let you type in code format lol

Anyways. it's hard to figure out an answer since I don't know what you're working with.

Are you getting  "stale false" with your timeouts?

You may need to rebuild your indexes.

You might have a firewall blocking a port.

You might be getting a lot of dropped packets which is causing a memory leak.

Check if something like this helps.

Delete this post if you feel it's necessary, I'm just trying to help, so that I can get back to playing the game lol. 🙂

So, any update on that ticket or those final 2 tasks you need to finish up yet? It's almost been another 4 hours.

Taking a game from 2009 and "physically" moving it to 2019 with only a 12 hour maintenance. Almost 66 hours later, seems more of a realistic timeline, I figured it would be closer to 3 days.

I just mess with you guys like I do to folks on other forums. Please take your time and get everything working properly.

So anyways back to what I was saying. It's getting close to 8 hours now, I hope everyone had a good night sleep and could we finish this up finally lol? 🙂

    Hi all,

    Just a quick update.

The team has finally worked out most of the issues (I hope).

I did see the first couple servers come online internally. Don't try and log in yet, it wont work.

I'm estimating about 1 more hour.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Thank you very much for the update. Routing issues have always been a pain. Reminds me of the time I accidentally locked myself out, while setting up VPN on about a dozen devices and had to get a hold of the ISP to unblock me from their side. That was fun lol...

As you know, Fallen Earth is quite dated and it requires operating systems that don't exist any more.

    working on correcting the issue

Truthfully, I'm not upset because of this downtime even though my membership is slowly ticking down, but things like this happen especially with older technology.

I just want to know what the (real issue) is? Hardware, software? Hyper-V? Problems seating the Ram cards or expansion slots? Are you able to get the test server running?

Actually, just about every operating system in existence can still be found online somewhere, even Acorn lol. Like I was saying at the top of page 3, I just got rid of my Win Xp about 6 months ago. I even still have the floppy's for my old win 95, 98,  old Power Mac stuff, Win 7 ultimate etc..

By the off chance, if you needed an old operating system, which one? Eycalyptus Ubuntu 9.04?, Debian?, Windows server 2008 R2? I might be able to find a copy around here somewhere or online, then toss it up on Github.

I've been messing around on computers since 92, went to college for computer programming in the early 2000s, couldnt count how many computers I've tore apart for scrap and/or fixed over the years and I've been hobby "bug testing" for the last 20 years or so, even made a couple small games of my own.

  11. What actually happened anyways? Don't worry about the "technical jargon", just be like..

Uhh well, Mike hit a pothole in the road and the back door on the van flung open. The server fell out and rolled down the street. We thought it looked ok, so we plugged it in and blew the main board which crumbled to dust from being so old. We had to overnight another one from Japan. Then the IT guy dropped his toolbox on his foot, so we had to take him to the ER, but he's ok, just broke 2 toes. Said heck with it and took a nap, then got some coffee and donuts a couple hours ago for the long night ahead.  (Technical issues) like that happen you know. 🙂

The techs hit a number of unforeseen issues, which have caused the extended downtime. And unfortunately these kinds of problems tend to be difficult to estimate fix time.

I know exactly how that goes lol, I finally gave in and upgraded from Win Xp about 6 months ago because something like this happened.

    Which operating system?
