Audio bugs, some works, some doesn't

For some reason normal game audio doesn't work. the Ambient noise is fine, as well as dialogue, notifications and whatnot, but for some reason both footsteps and attack sounds don't work at all. It should be noted i'm running this from Steam, but i've already validated the game files twice. All the audio bars are at max, but nothing's working. Send Help
