  1. Be thoroughly mediocre and watch my TL sink lower and lower into silver sadness.

Well, almost not quite. I'm real shitty at aiming in general so I get my patootie kicked outside of potato aim/basic tactics silver instances, but if I'm running with my more competent gold teammates and need to put my tryhard hat on I rock a HVR so I can at least set people up for fast kills and if there's one thing I'm decent at, it's communication, shotcalling and mission knowledge. I guess I'm comfortable in more of a leadership role. APB's the only game I've ever felt I've had a strong grasp on the general flow of things to the point I can tell other people what to do, but get me in a straight up fight as a long-term player and you'll doubtlessly win.

That and I have a special ability to make gold players very sad when I show up on their team.

They could make the cars feel faster without actually changing any of their stats.  They could add an optional animated camera that would include the old camera sway that was present in RTW-2012, and make it so that the FOV widens slightly based on the vehicle's speed while looking forward within a certain angle limit.  That way if you turn the camera to the side the FOV returns to normal so it doesn't just look weird.

    Emphasis on it being optional.

Yeah, this is the right approach. Let's not forget the ramps and jumps that are made specifically for the vehicle's current top speeds, you'll massively overshoot them if they were any faster. I think an audiovisual improvement would be a big help in improving the feedback of the vehicles but it should definitely be optional.

  3. Fun fact for you all: Back in the earliest RTW days, new players would start with the snubnose. What main weapon did they get, you ask? They didn't.

That's right. All brand new players would have to their name is an ugly shirt, some sweatpants, and a snubnose. This was before they implemented recoil and weapon handling, too, so missions were basically plapping at each other with capguns for the first hour or so. Adorable.

Later on in development they gave new players the STAR LCR, which was a special STAR that fired at a much slower rate than normal but had pinpoint accuracy. G1 replaced this with the STAR we know today and the FBW, but the LCR used to be sold on ARMAS and crops up occasionally. It's not a great gun, but it's a fine nostalgia piece.

I'm sure hiding the ban broadcasts, claiming that battleeye already doesnt work, and no name and shame policy fits right in with giving them a "Second chance". IT TAKES 5 MINUTES TO REROLL DUDE, NONE OF THESE PEOPEL CARE ABOUT THEIR ACCOUNTS MAN

In that case, how does this make a difference? Even if they didn't mass unban people, hackers would, and did, reroll. There was a no name and shame policy in place on the old forums because all it does is encourage witch-hunting and leads to people being placed under unfair suspicion through hearsay (Hackers should be reported through support, where something can actually be done about them and be processed without the chaff of a thousand posts) and if anything, ban broadcasting actually ENCOURAGES people to hack because it gives them validation and infamy.

There was a lot of subjective banning in recent history and a fair amount of it was deemed unfair. Being a new company taking over APB after it was manned by a skeleton crew for the last 4 years means a lot of baggage comes with it, and removing some of that baggage makes it easier for them to move forward. If you ran the company, would you leave all the bans intact and just tell your staff to ignore the gigantic backlog of tickets? Would it help?

  5. People are getting a second chance. It's good for the population and takes pressure off LO, who've just taken the game over, since it removes a lot of the backlog of existing support tickets.

Yeah, you're going to get a bunch of bad eggs showing their faces again, but overall I've played every day since they've brought the game back to life and, for APB at least, the population seems pretty positive. It's always been a cesspit but I've had a surprising amount of pleasant talks with people. Consider it a test of LO to see how well they handle some of the worst elements of the game being brought back, but otherwise - in my experience at least - it's been pretty successful.

But to survive in APB Reloaded is to know these rules. No doubt in my mind that everyone here knows these things and uses them to their advantage. I just pointed out the wierd things of APB R, but by now these rules are also the things that define APB R for what it is now.     And I wouldn't want to see (most of) these things deleted.

While I agree that most of these "mechanics" are useful and very important for high level play and indeed I use them myself, the problem is that a lot of these systems come from broken or unintentional interactions in the engine. These are tricks that you can only really pick up from seeing other players abuse them rather than a system that has been designed from the ground up to be used that way, and as such new players are going to be completely lost and confused when people use these things against you. It's just not explained, and if it was an intended mechanic it really should have a proper system for it. Jumpkicking could be replaced with a "safe" opening animation that keeps your character off to the side (but is slower) and so on.

  7. Me and my friends are having an absolute blast. Hacking seems like a super fringe problem and is by and large nonexistent in a lot of the matches I've played, the main problem is the matchmaking currently and dethreater abuse making the game as newbie unfriendly as ever. Just another one of those things that I hope are resolved soon, but by and large LO have done a great job revitalising the game.

  8. There used to be a male pain sound that was the character screaming "OH GOD!".

Bring it back. Bring it back! OH GOD! OH

Present here in the RTW beta, where it died a sad sad death shortly into its new lease of life. It's just... a great pain sound.

  9. At this point I think you'd better give it a rest mate.

What do you want us to do? March over to LO's offices and demand answers? You're not forthcoming with why support might have given you the response you've gotten, so at this point you should either try to continue the conversation with them or just make your peace about it. Nobody seems to be on your side regarding this matter. If your interactions with support before LO took over was the same as afterwards, then it looks like they've made their decision.

And do you believe that random people on the forum know the answer to your particular ban state? The answer to that is No we don't. You need to talk to Support not the Forum. Specially not Social... Thats like going to a random Mall and starting to scream at people asking why you are going to Jail.

Basically what this poster says. I'm not trying to lure you into a trap or anything, but if you're not going to come forward and say what you've done - yet still think that this topic is the best way to go about getting a response - then all we can assume is that it's something worth your account getting permanently removed over. Lots of posters have admitted to hacking in the past and are sorry about it and have been unbanned since, but given that support has given you a "Nope, sorry" response I can only assume you did something pretty darn bad.

  11. To be fair, I have a lot of friends who came back to the game who'd appreciate a 1 day premium code. We had one who was ready to spend in ARMAS, but without a large backstock of loyalty codes that regular players can lean on (I'd give him one of mine if I could), he'd have to have paid £15 for premium just to get the ARMAS discount, then however much on top of that for what he wanted to buy. The prices being as they are, it's a little bit too much to ask.

Also, to be a cynical capitalist creep: It also gives new players a taste of the full customisation, and as we know a day isn't nearly enough to get all those ideas out - especially as you're purchasing new clothes and cars. It's an easy way to convince new players to lay down some dosh because that first taste is a potent one.

  12. I always thought this would be a nice compromise for criminals. Give cops lights and sirens, crims underglow.

Only problem is that APB currently doesn't "do" dynamic lighting with its engine, so it'd need to be added in after the engine upgrade.

  13. Summary: While in the customiser, be it vehicle, clothing or the designer, I will get a "Connection Problems - Disconnect In <timer>" messager that will count down from 60 seconds to 0 without the ability to stop it. This results in lost design changes and a fairly significant amount of time lost.

Description: I've never had any issues with APB's customisation or connection stability outside of a few rare edge cases, but this most recent issue has become a constant nuisance and it may be related to BattleEye. I'm not entirely certain though - I never spent much time inside of the customisation prior to the patch.

It doesn't really matter what designer I'm using at the time or what I'm doing inside it - I'll get a "Connection Problems - Disconnect In <timer>" message and then I'll be unable to save my design or leave the menu until the timer has ticked down, upon which I am removed from the server and forced to log back in. It is only in the customisation that this happens, mind - regular gameplay and idling in social doesn't cause disconnects outside of server instability.

As you might expect, this is a considerable pain when it comes to enjoying one of the main parts of the game. Frustratingly, it's hard to tell exactly why this is happening. As far as I can tell, it's not related to anything I do in the creator: I've tried making as many inputs as possible, idling, only editing the paintjobs & clothing colours - I'm kind of scrabbling to understand what the issue is. Felt like it's worth a mention, though, since this is a fairly big and annoying problem. The only constant is that this seems to happen anywhere between 10 & 20 minutes of use, never any shorter.

    Steps To Reproduction:

    1) Access any of the customisation kiosks in social: Clothing, car, etc.

    2) Edit the item as per normal: Change colours, add decals, go into the decal designer and so on.

    3) Between 10 or 20 minutes of use, this error will appear, count down and prevent changes from being saved or the menu being left.

    4) Disconnect, log back in, go back to social - head back to step 1.

Frequency of this happening, near as I can tell, is 100%. I've had this issue for a few days now.

    Expected Results:

    Not disconnecting while editing.

  14. Nothing offiicial on the matter. Once the engine upgrade (that looks like an actual possibility nowadays!) is in place and the dust has settled, maybe the devs could add some official shader presets to the game, but for now - like a lot of APB over the last four years - you'll just have to rely on old footage and memories to get your fix.
