Hypothetically speaking, game going open source is an interesting idea and experiment

Hypothetically the community members running the 'open source' projects, assuming more than 1 succeeds, wouldn't hide their source code and install malware on peoples computers that beat them 1 time in a mission.

I would never let a community ran version of this game touch any hardware or virtual machine that I have control over lmao.

  2. Can confirm this guide will work for an Arch minimal install using LXQT + Openbox desktop environment on the Linux kernel (Not hardened lts or zen. Haven't tried those)

A couple of things to note is before installing the drivers as per the section in the ProtonGE tutorial, install the linux-headers package first

If you're on an nvidia card and you've followed the OPs directions etc and the game launches and the splash screen appears, then closes after a few seconds, try uninstalling the amdvlk package. For some reason it shows up after going through this tutorial at least it did for me.

Everything else should be identical to the tutorial posted here at least at the time of making this post.

I still don't know what this means. Is it the part where sometimes animation shows character exiting on the left side of a vehicle but then somehow he/she ends up on the right side?

If I'm correct it's a desync that can happen where the player hitbox disconnects for a moment from the player in certain situations after exiting a car, leading to someone having to shoot where the invisible hitbox is rather than the physical player model.

At least that's the one I assume they're referring to, and hope they're referring to.

HIGHLY annoying and meme tier that it existed this long.

  4. tl;dr probably better than apb everywhere except symbol creation + how those symbols apply to clothes and cars

As someone that's played the previous Saints games, they don't appear to have done anything revolutionary, it seems like a few extra things here and there on top of what was already very good customization in the other games and probably a large number of preset items. Not a bad thing, it was already good to begin with, at least from what I can tell they haven't tried fixing something that wasn't broken.. though won't know until the game actually comes out. This is one of few game franchises I have had any faith in rivaling the freedom we have in APB with customization, and they're going to do it better in most areas no doubt. Most others do pretty generic stuff. Our ability to use the symbol creator + the way symbols created there can be applied to clothing and vehicles is still going to be something unique to APB.

I'd say someone should just rip off the way APB does customization but do it better, but then how are they going to sell people a 15$ pair of socks in their microtransaction store when a player can make ones that probably look twice as good. Honestly the way APBs customization works is a threat to selling preset outfits etc like most other modern games have started doing.

    Hope Saints is good

Hope they bring back Protect Tha Pimp and maybe throw some other modes in too..

They are not, .ini edits are basically all that is permitted officially although there are some grey area edits like the localization ones and Nofog shader, however, .upk files are a whole different story as these are used to remove muzzle flash or other explosive particles and therefore are not allowed to be edited.

Except for the elephant in the room being this is entirely not enforced. Opening up Twitch will put that fact on display.

Themes, Symbols, Vehicles, Weapons, Clothing, Modifications ETC all that stuff.

I would love to know before/after player mail database size if this ever actually gets added. Just for lulz.

i didn't read the full treath and all the topics just reacting to first forum post of this topic. -

look at car gameplay... - if a person is playing with his car and tries to kill someone in the open . than that person who is in the open can use a shield. couse the other person has a car in use. - i think the shield on consumable was fine. but now they can survive cargameplay becous of the medspray and i think thats also fine.

    You can shoot under cars

I have read this ten times but I still don't understand it, technical jargon just doesn't compute with this simpleton. When I click on all my different outfits, it takes at least 30 seconds to change the picture. It would take ages to find the right one so I named them with different titles so mugger is the trampy one, veteran the mission one, king of the dead halloween one. If I click on all of them then run off down the street he'll cycle through each outfit every ten seconds. I lag when shooting at everyone, even those clones in default clothes that haven't been customised but some will cause the screen to freeze until I'm dead, I often won't see what killed me.

    tl;dr potato config memes

0-0-0 black or an "adidas-esque hoodie. Primary weapon must be the NTEC, Carbine, Scout, OSCAR, or PMG.

But really, i've had this happen with people, but it's always the same people, and no-one new. Probably have their character customization and -every- customization slot filled max under the hoodie.

    APBisms lmao

I mean, it took G1 3 years to figure out that character models had applied "double" the intended value to scale/sizing or something. We know that increased customization causes stress on the server, and that using things like USPStyles thing to remove even character textures can reduce lag and fps drops (because models and textures have resolution ranges and the like).

To me it's not far fetched to believe that that's the cause. Especially when there's no other explanation as to why when aiming or shooting at -that- specific player(s), I lag out, but have no issues with any others.

Though this is something that had occurred a number of years ago. Maybe LO fixed it in the back end by now in the coding or something. I haven't exactly been active lately. It's just something I starkly remember, because it was always the same people lel.

Fun fact if you have an APBCompat.ini file that has a high quality character and vehicle preset, and also has one with playdough untextured characters and vehicles, you can achieve an effect where only your currently equipped outfit and vehicle customizations load by loading into an empty district with the high preset, then switching it to the playdough one, and joining any other district. If you do this while any other characters are loaded they will also have their stuff loaded so if you encounter them elsewhere in game their stuff will be visible too, hence the empty district part.

This is probably well known by certain parts of the community, or not, idk, I don't associate with people enough to know if it's common knowledge or not xD

I ran into it while trying to force the character models to not load and remain as the "default" model

    totally not wildly offtopic x3
