    Speak that truth bro!

It's been known for a while that EAC is terrible, and bans people who've never cheated, while letting actual cheaters carry on without any repercussions. I got kicked for using Afterburner to monitor stats, because the performance is terrible. EAC is a joke, and I'm suprised APB went with them. It's like VAC, but crappier. This company will fold, sooner, or later. I can't wait.

God, I still cannot comprehend how and why people like this exist. Imagine living such a life.

An interesting update, I haven't played in months but I look forward to major steps, especially the engine upgrade. Good luck and strong nerves.

I'm not too sure about this whole idea of "seasons"... I don't really need the fortnite treatment for APB... just push out updates as they're ready... no need to theme them or give them certain time frames...

also, I'm not too sure about RIOT... APB population is small, and maybe (even after the engine update hits and summit1G might bring some "hype" back into the game) there'll not be enough players to properly fill action districts AND RIOT.

all in all, I'm excited for the future, but not very optimistic.
I don't want APB to fail, but it's age is showing and the engine update does only little.

it might sound stupid, but I think it's time for APB 2 (built from ground up) (SOON™).

the engine update will do 'little' in terms of making the game look up to par with others, however they're planning on migrating to UE4 at some point... that doesn't mean they cannot do graphical wonders with the UE3 version they're migrating to, UE3 is still a very capable engine

APB cost appx. 100 million+ $ to make, including the long and tedious, irresponsible process of development and the development hell, which means that an effective and streamlined development process would cost them millions, if not dozens of millions... APB is a more complex game than people can imagine, it'd mean hiring a lot of people of different backgrounds... what I'd like to see is to have the devs improve upon APB once the migration is over - increase polygon count, details, add more interiors, higher texture resolution, cool shaders, animations... that'd mean buffing up their artistic departments, and that's the least important job currently for Little Orbit, but here's hopin

APB is going to run as a 64bit executable, having 4GB ram probably won't even let you run the game.

tbf, it allows the app to utilize more than 4 GB of RAM but that doesn't automatically mean it's constantly going to use that much RAM/will want more than 4 GB, if the files are too large then the game itself can be optimized in such a way that it will load in only the necessities and other things will have to be loaded in from the HDD on the run (page file size) which will lead into stutters though

there are 64bit ue3.5+ games that run well on 4 GB RAM and I am pretty sure APB is not going to become a "IT'S 2019 SO NOW YOU NEED 16 GB OF DDR4 RAM, DOESN'T MATTER THAT THIS GAME'S ENGINE WAS MADE BACK WHEN HUGE MAJORITY OWNED ONLY 4 GB RAM" game

  4. A lot of people are dogmatic. They believe in what they say and won't budge. They'll always find something they dislike about a certain thing/person/team just so they aren't forced to change their view (thus shake the foundations of their ego and superiority) and instead, reinforce their belief. It is the same with finding a reason not to do one thing. There's always a million reasons not to do something. You'll always find reasons, you'll always find something dislikeable.

I like Little Orbit, I am pretty sure they are focused on UE3.5 the most, because they know that the engine upgrade is what will distance them from G1.

    Hi all,

A couple of our staff reported this thread to me, but only I can really post an update on this subject. But it will be a couple more days for me to get updates from the team before I can do that.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Looks cool.  This is gonna sound stupid but I was concerned for the quality of upcoming splash screen art since the one with the Showstopper on it just used a background from the loading screen, but this one actually looks pretty nice and has an original background.  Either way I'm just happy I don't have to stare at the freakin Coywolf every time I go to start the game anymore.

I felt like the graphics designer was actually just in a phase of learning it all. Looked dorky. I don't mind learners and beginners. It's good it's advancing.

I mean every single player in apb has been complaining at the game's performance for so much years of course that is something we all want to know !

Plus this engine upgrade will just clean up the game so much . it will basically open new doors to the future of apb .

I remember struggling to play this game on my dualcore 2.2 GHz... damn that was a lagfest, now I have an i5-6500 so it works really smooth, thank God, but NOW I WANT MORE

Realistically we're probably going to be on 3.5 for quite a while once they get the first upgrade in.  Upgrading to UE4 requires them to pretty much rewrite the entire game's code.  It's a totally separate team based in Australia handling the UE4 upgrade though, so whatever the main team is doing here won't slow the UE4 upgrade at all.  Hopefully these guys know what they're doing better than RTW did.

yep, they are simply finishing up the ue3.5 upgrade while ue4 upgrade was, afaik, their own idea, so they started from scratch there... it'll take a year or two, or three

  9. It's really fun. Especially in the endgame as you are trying to conquer the Memorial Park, but the best thing is to defend it, so many people found themselves on the bridge and around, and it felt really lively and wonderful.

Shame for the server lags and closed connections, but you couldn't have seen that coming as you don't have 100 QAs trying it out. Or the DDoS guys. Keep it up guys! Thanks for the fun!
