How bout a rework of the mailbox so we dont have to sift through 50+ messages when buying JMBs

Yes. Do this. I want to be able to mass delete my dozens upon dozens of pages of 3 day trial jmb items. Better yet, give jmb mailbox messages their own tab in the mailbox and let us mass-retrieve attachments too, so I don't need to spend an hour on every new character accepting all my account perms kthx

I personally hate LTL. Getting an LTL teammate is just a handicap. I'd prefer it was removed entirely.

Hey now, as someone who enjoys rolling ltl squads that hurts.

It's a fun handicap for enforcers who are good at the game and want a little challenge. That said, unless you're God tier it's still better left in squads where everyone is doing it and not on random groups.

  3. I like the hidden numerical suffixes route, myself. Add it once and you can see when someone gets online on any of their characters, block it once to block all of a person's characters for good, and no issues with name conflicts ever again. How likely are two people to have the same name anyway? Not very, so it's highly unlikely that it would ever create an issue with confusing one person for another (unless it's a common or shared name, like naming something after a TV show or video game character).

That said, otherwise they should keep the "oldest character gets the name" route imho

  4. ITT:

    1) Whining that they aren't doing enough, or fast enough, or that they changed something that someone didn't like
    2) Refuting the whining by pointing out what's been done
    3) low-effort memes taking jabs at LO

For real though -- far better than g1, and i'd prefer changes that can always be reverted if they fail to no change at all. This game needs a mix up, or it's going to slowly peter off and die as we've all been expecting for so long now.

There's so many toxic violently pessimistic people who are upset that they're not getting EXACTLY what THEY want and getting it IMMEDIATELY though, that it can be hard to gauge exactly what the "state of the community" is, since most of us seem to be more or less in the "Meh, they're doing alright." club.  Most people are ALWAYS going to be relatively neutral, and only the loud vocal minority on the far reaches of either side are going to be heard. Believe it or not, most people choose to be positive, just either silently so or relatively neutrally so.

For the most part, what matters is that though LO hasn't always made perfect, great or even good changes, they're at least trying to change it up to make the game so much better than it currently is, into a much better game than the one that we know today...
... and even if it ends up still dead in the end, at least the last hurrah was one of trial, going down fighting, rather than simply petering out of existence unceremoniously with a horrible track record, only for the game to be remembered as mediocre at best, and bad at worst.

Edit: side note, they seem to be doing alright with the other G1 game too -- the few times I've actually gone over to the fallen earth forums being linked from here or browsing through the dev tracker, the people over there seem to be majorly more positive, and receiving LO's changes in a much better light.

OP hasn't supported the game for 2 years, comes back and lists a bunch of demands coupled with mild insults to the work both G1 and LO have done in that period. In that same period APB lived on without OP's support and will continue to live on with or without it. OP is a bundle of sticks whose opinion and suggestions are about as useful as that white stuff that gathers in the side of one's mouth when they're thirsty.

alternately, the other white stuff (though sometimes gray) that appears in one's crotch region after having not showered for a long time.

  6. Why is it that every forum post that I see by you is nothing but whining and doomsaying and being a banana to the devs?

G1, for a while, actually did shit, yes -- what should matter now is that shit is getting done again, regardless of who's doing it or if they burn out from being called terrible so constantly by people like you.

Edit: thanks for the dislike, hexerin. I will wear it like a badge of honor. Send me more daddy

  7. Wouldn't an "account-wide inventory" defeat the purpose of account-bound weapons? Unless they like, had a faction-bound (only crim / only enf) inventory instead, but even then many people only play one or the other, so that could cause a lot of lost revenue.

Your specific situation seems to be a personal problem, and support may or may not help you because it does seem to be a problem that you caused yourself.

On top of that, complaining and then backtracking by saying that it doesn't matter to you because you don't play apb any more? Don't complain about stuff that requires you to play, if you simply don't.

  8. On one hand, I didn't have one before this, so I'm glad they opted to allow it.

On the other hand, I always kind of viewed member titles as something for OG forum users, and now they're available to everyone

which makes me feel a bit conflicted about it, even though ultimately it is a nice gesture from them

  9. So... TL;DR people in chat made you butthurt so you came to the forums to complain about it, while trying to add legitimacy to your argument by claiming that you reported a bunch of people and clogged up the support ticket list for next to no reason which makes all the support tickets take longer to get to, as well as harping on the dead horse that is dethreaters?

Maybe, just maybe, instead -- you could actually be an adult (which you should be anyway, playing APB) and not let someone saying something on the internet hurt your precious feefees, just /ignoring them and being the bigger person while Matt Scott and the support team fix the problems that they already know are there, but they're taking forever to get to because they have to waste time dealing with a veritable million support cases from people like you?

Your comment smacks of the a child's propensity to complain constantly and be impatient, and yet you act like YOU'RE the one who's the adult here. Sorry, but APB doesn't need to be a "safe space" and when you're an adult, you shouldn't expect any "safe spaces". Not even your home, in the age of the internet.

They know their problems -- it's their company. They listen to the community -- that's why they've been so much more open than G1 ever was. They're people too, trying to save a dying game with all their might, who don't need even more of a hit to their morale. I have no idea why they bought this game when so much of its vocal and forum-going player base is willing to smack them down and be such negative d-bags to the people trying to make it so that you can still play a game that you probably like. Rome wasn't built in a day, and it took a much larger team a much longer time to turn the shit that was Final Fantasy 14 into FF14: A Realm Reborn which is actually good -- they're no doubt trying their best, so stop bitching for now, when they've already showed willingness to try and improve the game (even if, with no experience in fps/tps games, they still need to learn about balancing and the like).

They'll get to your tickets just like everyone else's, though whether they're acted on is entirely down to how ridiculous or not you're being. Besides that, they need proof of anything before they can take action against someone's account, not just your word. By your attitude, I'd guess it's mostly just complaints about nothingness though.

Because availability stays in no relation to sth. qualifying as a crutch?
What you just said is that there is no problem for a gun to be utterly broken as long as its freely available - I point you to my initial post that describes your objection perfectly.

What the heck is a "smart gun"?
So when casuals are given tools to cheese out wins over players who are actually putting in the effort they obviously have fun.
But it's a terribly wrong approach. You can't establish your balancing around such things that's why we need (and have) proper classifications for skill groups.
There is a reason why sports have norms and skillgroups. Why should someone worse be allowed to compete with someone better - that would be stupid.
I never said it should have as low as or a lower ttk than other weapons -- in fact, I said that it should be at that .8 ttk (or slightly higher, maybe like .85 or .875)) at all of its' effective ranges, giving it a fighting edge but also being more forgiving. Anyone who can aim will still be  able to out-ttk it with almost any weapon though. This means that the silver paired against a r255 obt veteran perma gold might actually get a few kills instead of getting pissed the fuck off and ragequitting -- that stuff happens all the time, why do you think player retention in this game is so shit? The game caters only to the highest caliber of player, blocking out anyone who hasn't played consistently for a long time. Most of my friends have quit because they get frustrated by never being able to compete.

A smart gun is a gun that has kind of homing capabilities. Most operate like missiles do in military games -- a couple seconds to lock on, followed by homing attacks. Titanfall is a big one for this. All of the smart guns are lower damage than other guns, they just give an option for people who want to be more casual.

Note: I'm not saying that this game should have a "smart gun", but the shredder deserves to be what it was made to be: a more forgiving short to mid ranged weapon, with a slightly higher ttk than either other short OR long range weapons, in most categories.

    • Good TTK
    • Versatile
    • Easy to use
A weapon, to be properly balanced, should check two elements off this checklist. Most weapons in APB do, some even check only one.

    Shredder checks all three.
See above. I never said it was perfect, but people who seem to think that it should be nerfed to the ground like the other shotguns really irk me* -- instead, it should be SLIGHTLY nerfed or have a slightly lower fire rate or something to make it 2 and 3 of your bullet points, I just take issue with people saying "B-BUH IS A SHOTGUN I-IT SHOULD HAVE LITERALLY NO RANGE", when it was designed to be a mid-range shotgun..
You obviously skipped the rest of  my post, where I clearly said that I think it should be nerfed slightly, but it should also have its' niche where it's competitive and versatile for people who aren't gods at aiming yet (or hacking), to give lower tier players an edge against upper tier ones, albeit one that will still result in them losing most of the time against someone super skilled, while also giving them much more ability to fight back and not be completely stomped on, which is frustrating and is part of the reason this game died, then so far has stayed dead.

For the record, I support a re-nerf to shotguns... but not a flat out revert. I like the ramp in damage, where the first pellets do more damage, but I think the curve should be slower, so you need to hit more pellets to do the same damage (but not all of the pellets to do all of the damage), as well as the slight range nerf that they've already put into place for damage control purposes... I just think that the shredder deserves its' place, and not to just be a cookie-cutter sub-par NFAS replacement. The NFAS is our melee weapon, so at least let the Shredder add some variety by being more geared towards range. This game needs new and fresh.

Reverting the changes changes nothing, and this game NEEDS changes. We need to work more on what LO has already put out there, and find ways to shake it up, make the game more inviting and noob friendly than it currently is. Shit, I think a no-slot shredder should be an option from the tutorial perm weapon selector and do as I said: have a bit more range, be more forgiving, but have a higher ttk than most other things within its' range. Now THAT could do some wonders to help bring in new players.

  11. Wasn't the shredder originally designed as a shotgun that is useful out to more of a mid range than most other shotguns?

Further, should every single weapon in the game require 100% skill, all the time?

I think maybe it could use just a smidge lower fire rate, but there's a reason why games with "smart guns" get such large numbers of fans outside of the hardcore fps group: it gives those people who aren't as good at aiming a viable alternative.

I think it should be a 4 shot kill up close, with its' damage falloff starting around 25m. That's what it's designed to be. It could maybe use a small, small nerf to get rid of the massive overdamage but as it stands, it's a little less skill-based than most other weapons in the game, but it's far from overpowered -- it simply gives the masses of worse players a viable alternative against the tryhards at the top, while still having a higher ttk than most weapons anyone in the upper echelon of the game would use.

that said, I think most OTHER shotguns should only be a 2-shot up to 10m, then start falling off hard to the point they are useless at a shredder's range.

Yeah. It would be like forcing ESL players to just play in pro league matches and don`t allow them to play casual.
    It would be really stupid.

and xsorrow already had a discussion with nerfing LTL weapons "AGAIN"

On bronze servers there are gold people playing against green people. You really think making another rank would be "the solution"?

Apb is just a game you can`t start alone. Get a clan/premates and let them explain the game to you. Playing alone is just shit.

Let me show you something: I play in Bronze and I was now half a year Silver although I am max rank. But something is wrong. If the opponents would be matched against "Dethreat Tryhard" Silvers they would be demolished. I oftend end up explaining opponents which upgrades they should use or how the game even works. The other times i get demolished by Goldies. ( Remember, everything in bronze district )

    wum3ssdn.jpglsvvvrme.jpg
But if you get matched against "Second Characters" the matchmaking would be unfair again. If you let other characters on the account influence the matchmaking it would be fu**ed up if a Hacker plays against you with his 67th account and he can call backup against you.

There is no way in fixing this
You obviously missed where I said "Yeah we shouldn't split up the player base any more."
And also the part where I said "the current system needs changing anyway."

It's like I'm a Global Elite rank playing at an MG1 level, simply because I was constantly carried by friends who are much better than me at the game, in my case --

I'm garbage and get paired against tryhards, which ruins the fun in every way, and I can never dethreat because I'm constantly paired up against dethreaters, at which point I win and that's that. I know I'm not the only person with this problem, and it's a problem that's tanking player retention.

Unfortunately I don't think that HTML is up for converting sheet music, which is unfortunate.
Ill try to release an update later today that fits the APB system better, I just need to add new keys that don't do anything and are purely visual to make up for the extra keys that APB has that the virtual piano does not.
Yeah that's kind of the cool thing about 3mle, that it can convert both sheet music and midi files into a visual format that kind of matches APB's creator visually, though obviously not exactly. It also has a fairly large list of instruments that you can test playback with.

Though, TBH I kind of just brought it up in hopes that it could give you ideas in how to improve your own program, because like I said, using 3MLE is fiddly with APB's synth being just different enough that it can cause some hiccups along the way. Also it's free in case you wanted to study it to help improve your own heh.

Edit: I'm also not a programmer so I don't actually know how viable this would be

  14. It's not tuned for APB exactly, but I used to play Mabinogi a while back and there's a program to make music in Mabinogi's format (which is letter and symbol based) called 3MLE, and you can use its interface to actually visualize what a song is going to look like in a standard / simplified audio tool like APB's and it's pretty good for splitting up and isolating different tracks (especially for music pieces with different parts / instruments). You can import sheet music directly to it, too. You don't need the extra notepad file for it either, though it does require a bit of fiddling with since it's not made EXACTLY for APB.
While I didn't convert them from sheet music, I used this program also as an organizational tool when I made my old Pokemon songs in APB (basically, I made the songs in 3MLE first by hand, and then copied them over to APB)

That said, if you can get this program's functionality up to par with 3MLE's, I'd be willing to use it just for the sake of not needing to fiddle with it as much due to it being tuned EXACTLY for APB instead.

Godspeed with your project tho my dude, here's hoping you get it working fantastically.

It just ends up screwing over at least one person, every time.
I still do, but the problem arises when you spend 20 minutes not getting opp in a group of 3-4, which i've had recently....
I can't even play because like 70% of the time I get in a mission with just me and one other person, then they leave and I immediately get opp so I can't leave the mission -- so now it's a 1v1, and I'm a "fake gold" so either I get completely stomped on and it just sucks and is no fun, or they're a de-threater and I suck so I barely win, but they're not actually trying to shoot back so it's no fun...

  16. We don't need a further split to the player base. Especially since people who are Gold (but not skilled enough to be, really) like me are already getting really, really frustrated by both the inability for us to actually go down in threat like we should be doing naturally (we're stuck gold because of constant dethreaters it seems) and the lack of districts available for play most of the time -- usually there is, at peak hours, ONE financial that we can enter and NO waterfronts. It kind of really sucks, as it means it's next to impossible to level any waterfront contacts at the moment.

We need a solution that's better than the current green/bronze/silver/gold threat system, and adding more ranks to that would split the player base a lot more.

Instead, I think ignoring someone should stop you being matched with them, we need a votekick system for squads and abandoning missions should be limited to a certain number of times per unit of time, like you can only abandon 2-3 missions before being locked out of matchmaking for a while (actually doing a mission resets this number), or a total of 24 times in 24 hours or something, to disincentivize this kind of crap. I guarantee if it's pushing me away again now that it's become so prevalent, where I've been playing since OBT, it's pushing away newer players for sure.
This makes no sense, players dont /abandonmission because of Rlevel ; its predominantly because they are a threat below the status quo on the respective district. Your Rlevel has nothing to do with skill or kills

Shaming people who use /abandonmission for wanting to dodge undesirable missions is a stance that completely ignores the reason why people use the command.

Some people use it to dodge teammates before they get opposition. If you recognize someone's character name and remember that they were a detriment to the team, you can quickly tap out of participating in the mission with that person. Some people also use the command to get out of teams with disproportionate threat levels. I'm all for helping lower threat/rank players get better and teaching them and whatnot, but it's unreasonable to expect anyone to always do that.

There is also the issue of multiple missions in the game desperately needing a fix. From an objective standpoint, they have multiple issues that require changes or a complete removal altogether.
Just to name a few examples (in no particular order)...

    • Bad Investment - This mission suffers from being unfairly rigged against the Enforcer team in the latter stages.
Stage 4 requires the Enforcers to take over a wide circular area with no cover ("Go To" objective) and stand in the circle for about 10 seconds, if not more. Time limit = 5 minutes.
Stage 5 requires the Criminals to take over that exact same area by standing in the circle for 4 seconds or so. Time limit = 5 minutes.

    • R.O.A.R. - The mission consists of three stages - the first two are a Vandalism objective. What does that mean? It means that very often (depending on objective placement) you don't even need to physically come to the point - you can simply take a sniper rifle and dismantle the storefront from a distance.

    • The Fast And The Incarcerated - Just... why?
This mission involves two stages of delivering cars and the final mission is... well, the exact same thing.
TFATI requires an anti-vehicular weapon. If no one in your team has an ALIG or an explosive weapon at their disposal, you're shit-out-of-luck. Absolutely nothing is stopping either team from jumping in/on the truck and stacking it with Blowtorches, allowing them to drive away until the end of days.

    • The Hidden Menace - Nothing you do over the course of the final stage means anything. The winning team is determined by whether the bomb is planted at the final second of the mission. You can defend the objective as an Enforcer for pretty much the entire length of the final stage, but if for any reason the bomb gets planted by the Criminals in the very final moments, you automatically lose. Your multi-minute defense of the objective doesn't matter.
Believe it or not, I actually don't have that much of an issue with Creme De La Crime. I'm not a fan of the mission (I believe it to be too long), but just about the only things that can screw you over in this mission are base locations. That is, one of the teams may get a base that's close to a street, with civilian cars readily available (or a car spawner), or a base that's exposed from multiple sides/paths and very difficult to defend.

TL;DR removing /abandonmission doesn't solve (nor does it understand) the issue of why people use it.
All that said, I'm someone who rerolls a lot not because I cheat, but because I like making characters with a specific theme and I tend to make and re-make characters regularly for the sake of changing it up a bit. Oh. Gunslinger says that it's only for pistols, but it's for all secondary weapons -- I think that's what you're having an issue with.

"Less Than Lethal" is a quantifier to say "This gun is not as lethal", not "this gun can't kill" (or else it would be called "Non-Lethal") -- it is completely independent of a gun being a "primary" or "secondary" weapon. The CCG fires bean bags instead of bullets, the NL9 shoots what is essentially a long-range taser (electrical dart), the OPGL CD essentially fires pepper spray grenades, the TG-8 fires tranq darts, and the PIG is straight up a taser (uses electricity).

There have been cases of people dying in real life to each of these things, but they also aren't normally lethal -- hence why they are "less than" lethal.

That said, I do kind of wonder why unintentional kills ARE added to the respective lethal kill role list -- it's odd. They PROBABLY should be, but it's still a "kill" and gunslinger is technically for "kills" even though it SAYS "pistol kills".

And yes, the changed links helped me guess what you were gettign at, thank you.
