7 hours ago, Nanometic said:The new Anti-cheat still isn't out yet. The 8 hour cooldown you're seeing was an issue with some new hardware they brought back, one of the waterfront instances was running a time that was out of sync from the rest, causing the bug with cooldowns.
There's been no anti-cheat for some months now since they discontinued their deal with SARD.
Oh wow that's crazy

Wait what do you mean by "anti-cheat is working" was it disabled or something?
And I completely agree about the Discord part

Some modern cards, mainly Intel's lineup struggle with older non DX12 games like APB. I know in the past Matt mentioned that he wanted to update the game to DX12. Is this something that is currently being worked on or is it just something he would like to do but is a low priority now? Thanks.

So we're moving from one full day downtime to two?

as many of you noticed the servers are currently offline. This is because the maintenance has started much later than intended at 5PM UTC rather than the intended 9AM UTC. We expect the servers to be coming back online in the coming hours.
Hey, we would appreciate if you guys posted things like these sooner. I know you have the discord but not all the players know about that it and some of us like to get the news the old fashioned way
Believe it or not some people still like to play this game and with no news they end up wasting too much time hitting the refresh button on forums and game hoping maybe now they will be able to log in...

So day-long maintenance is a thing now?

After updating to the latest Intel drivers my game turned into stutter city. After trying out various things I finally found a fix:
Clear shader cache: Search -> Disk Cleanup -> DirectX Shader Cache. You cave to do this after every driver update for the Intel Arc...
Gonna leave this here for future users. This helps with all games and not just APB.

I remember Matt mentioning in his last AMA that they prefer to perm trade lock instead of banning so most likely you did something naughty in the past. He also mentioned that the best bet is to contact support and to have patience as they have a lot of tickets and not many staff

This is more to do with Intel being a new player in the market and having history with poor backwards compatibility with older applications not running DX12, APB being a very unique game and not because of the card not being powerful enough to run it (and the above mentioned is true as it's struggles without changing settings in the config I mentioned a few posts above). This card is powerful enough to run modern titles like Cyberpunk.
Also funnily enough old APB did ran better with older hardware of that time, hell even 4 gigs of ram was enough at the time. Performance went down the gutter sometime in 2012 when every patch degraded performance.
While we're on the same topic I did find a workaround for crashing while customizing vehicles and clothing with symbols. The trick is to do one thing at a time: select colors of vehicles or clothing and parts (for cars) and save, then click customize again and start applying symbols and save again, do not go back to part/color screen without saving or you will crash.

EpicGoat was probably biggest loser in my honest opinion with streaming his cheating.
You’re allowed to guess that, I’ve been around long enough to know these too, but not really the point
Sarcasm can be difficult to pick up over the internet
I don't disagree about MrEpicGoat but blatant hackers like him are a lot less problematic then hardcore closet cheaters

It does matter because they were two different people. One was a famous streamer and the other was from a clan with shady reputation and alleged connections to GMs at the time of old G1. Like the "Russian agent" is such a bs excuse to get unbanned lmao. I remember even cheaters like the legendary MrEpicGoat was hackusating that clan but I'm guessing most of the current posters are too young to know any of those names...

This game will never die. The same small handful of players will continue playing it until the end of times

A Russian Agent they said.
Hell, I believed it.
Wasn't it DogFish from BitFenix aka BitPenis and not DopeFish tho?

They sure as hell didn't want there weapon to hit the G1 "chopping block".
But eventually, they all did.
Rinse & Repeat my friend... Rinse & Repeat.
Yeah it's nothing to joke about, even worse for the legendary weapons where you couldn't directly buy them at the time and had to gamble them from scam boxes. Some people had to spend hundreds to get those, really scummy tactics by G1. But people couldn't have been so naive not to expect a weapon that's clearly too strong and everybody is abusing not to get fixed.
Heh I remember dopefish doing nano only missions back when you could snipe people from 70 m with it and outgun primary weapons in cqc

There were trying to cash in I'm guessing.
You remember the responses of those players that bought these OP weapons only to be nerfed to uselessness.
They WERE pissed.
Haha
I remember people defending every single one of those weapons, Nano, Yukon, Trouble Maker - you name it xD

I remember when G1 would regularly release a new Weapon on ARMAS marketplace that would dominate and was OP as hell.
Everyone flocked to the Marketplace to grab this OP weapon. Many complained on the forums.... for months.
And then.... after maybe 4-6 months, after many were sold, they would nerf that weapon into oblivion.
Haha, I thought to myself.. what a SCAM..
Rinse & Repeat.
Lol
They made some good coin back then,
I think it took them 9 months to finally fix nano

I meant they (old G1) nerfed FBW from 5 to 6 shots "bcus OP" and then released a new 5 STK pistol (.45 AP) on Armas to cash in.

This resolution brings me back to 2011
So when do we revive APB?

Funnily enough if you download APB through steam but launch the game through APB.EXE with steam disabled you can play w/o steam. I sometimes do that
